- BrenBeers, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I find it intresting that you chose to post this problem with godaddy.com here. I completely feel you pain, and wish you the best in luck, but you do realise that no matter how much it picks up here on digg.com, it won't make it to diggnation. Think about it godaddy is a big sponser for diggnation and I would think digg as well. Not saying that you shouln't have posted here, just a general observation I guess and a bit or rambling.
I have used godaddy for quite some time now and must have 6 or 7 domain names registered with them and I have had no problem. I will help with the fight and digg. best of luck. - rm999, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Can we please not turn this into another priceritephoto? I admit that vigilante justice gets the job done, and godaddy maybe deserves it, but we always end up in the same place: the victim get his 15 minutes of fame, digg users gets the satisfaction of revenge, and the mainstream media mocks digg as a haven for the immature.
- daze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1do a chargeback and wipe the tears. seriously, this isnt godaddy out to screw you. this sounds to be a computer error that happens with any company. their computer says you werent charged, but your bill says otherwise. that is why credit card companies have the abilities to do a chargeback. move on.

Word. - sintaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I totally agree. When a company takes responsibility for their actions, there's no reason they should be slammed. But when they instead choose to stare blindly in the opposite direction, it really grinds my gear.
- sintaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I changed my mind. This should really go under "Technology".
- GlassUser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I say issue a chargeback.
- bcassner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Wow, shame what the guy is going through. I would just pay for the domains and then submit to my credit card company that I was double billed. The credit card company usually takes care of the consumer over the business. As a side note I have dealt with GoDaddy on a number of domains and have always had a good experience.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i'll digg it, most companies that i deal with are fair and make good on any mistakes that they have made, sometimes even giving me the product or service for free, but those companies that don't acknowledge their mistakes deserve all the bad publicity we can give them...
- lart, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why don't you talk to your bank like they said you should?
- seenthefuture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I used ot work at Godaddy. The help center is run by Bret (fat cocky prick). Call back and demand you speak with him.
- scottymoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've used godaddy for years with no issues at all. However, this is not the place to put this. You should take this up with GoDaddy and not be lame.
- sintaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It doesn't seem like there is any inter-department communication going on. My initial complaint was directed to secureserver.net (registered by GoDaddy), where I was told to talk to "GoDaddy's billing department" at billing@godaddy.com (which is obviously registered by GoDaddy). My support ticket was handled by supportwebsite.com (also registered by GoDaddy). It seems to me they farm all their non-techincal stuff to third parties, keeping it under the guise that it's all actually in house by registering domains for those third parties, effectively making them "daughter companies/partners". If indeed support and both billings are handled by three different entities (along with whoever handles the site errors... probably GoDaddy), there is no way I'm going to get all three people in one virtual room to agree that something went south. There's no trail connecting anything to anything, except whatever server logs were spewed out when the program crashed, and my paper trail at my bank.
- sintaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Here's the deal... it's a Visa Check card, so it has to go through my bank. The problem is, there's a cancellation / reversal fee of like $20. For that reason, As far as 'fraud' goes, my bank typically won't deal with amounts under $50 bucks. It's one of those "swallow your pride and suck it up" things. No me gusta.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0GoDaddy have horrible service - I had the same experience a few years back with them (they double charged me) - in the end I had to just reverse the charge on my card - godaddy never noticed (maybe we should all do this!)
- Pentarix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I've purchased a bunch of my domains fro GoDaddy without any problems but it's the principle of the matter. + Digg so you can get this resolved.
- thenativeraver, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just go to your bank and dispute the charge, the solution is not that complex.
- WackyT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+01) Call number on back of credit card.
2) Punch through multiple menus until you get to a live person.
3) Challenge charge. - LiquidPenguin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just a thought, have you thought about going through other channels, such as filling a complaint with bbb.org?
That last email probably doesn't help your case though. - loopbiz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am a godaddy reseller at domainasset.net and I personally have 30 domains and my customers many more. GoDaddy phone support has always been good - and twice, when there were problems, they were resolved within 24 hours.
I recommend you call again, emplain the sequence and the issues and don't get angry - be calm and explain it and ask them to help you resolve it. That should do it, but if you don't get a resolution, ask to speak to Brett and repeat the whole thing calmly. If that doesn't help, call the CEO and if that doesn't work, send a fax. no threats, no shouting, just be calm and business-like. If you still get nothing, report it all here, but I'm sure you will resolve it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0fisherman said "The endless parade of ***** Apple, Google, and PS3 stories has already made Digg a laughingstock."
i agree no digg - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't get it. You tried to register a domain, and your Macintosh crashed mid-transaction. Since you didn't get the product, call your Credit Card company and reject the charge. And next time, use MBNA's "shop safe" or other one-time-use credit card system.
- sintaks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0For the curious: I submitted this under "Software" because GoDaddy's software crashed. Therefore I hate it. It's also under software because there is no "Companies I Hate" or "General Gripes About People and Technology" section.
- fizztroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0No digg.
The whole reason we use Visa is for cases like this (and others )
Buy the domains quick.
Charge back.
Job done.
You should have done that after the first contact with GoDaddy, rather than building a ***** website complaining about it. Get real man! - scbysnx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0simple solution to the problem. no digg
- PvUtrix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Simple, stop making business with GoDaddy
- weiran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It all seems to have went away now.
No digg. - JJorsett, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0It's been resolved, but the first thing I'd do now if I were you is go get a real credit card, not whatever you're using that charges you for disputes or reversed transactions. Sounds like a great deal for the bank, not you. I'd be more irritated with them than you were with GoDaddy.
- nostgard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"You are most likely seeing a hold that has been placed on the funds. Godaddy will not send the paperwork to process the charge and after 3-5 days the hold will be dropped."
The charge was posted on Jan 1st, according to his story. It's Jan 27th... I think it would have dropped off by now. - risc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just because a charge shows up doesn't mean it will be deducted. You are most likely seeing a hold that has been placed on the funds. Godaddy will not send the paperwork to process the charge and after 3-5 days the hold will be dropped. Take a few minutes to learn about credit card processing before you get everyone in a tizzy.
- ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Godaddy actually have excellent support and the best prices, I cant see why all of you complain, I have over 40 domain names with godaddy.
- jasqwerty, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0You're a ***** idiot then. A Visa Check card may be issued by your ***** bank, but its still backed by Visa. I've never heard of a cancellation/reversal 'fee' before in my life. And this isn't fraud at all. Just do a chargeback then. If that's what the reversal is, then call Visa directly, because this stuff doesn't have fees when you get screwed.
- rhizome, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"What do you do when GoDaddy steals your money?"
Apparently you threaten them with your nonexistent "community," who from the looks of the comments at your call to arms, is at about the 5-person level of boycott. Get a life, kid.
