- WilliamDavis, on 05/12/2008, -1/+7Quick!!! If you own a website, go do some brown-nosing! That's what that blog is for, it seems.
- wukillabee, on 05/12/2008, -3/+22The question is.. what does google know about YOU!?
- zadadka, on 05/12/2008, -3/+7Shouldn't that be "what DOESN'T Google know about you!?"......?

- BradMW, on 05/12/2008, -4/+1Did anyone else think he was about to say the cats and dogs captcha was his favorite?
- purplehaze420, on 05/12/2008, -2/+11I find your comments shallow and pedantic.
- kyouteki, on 05/12/2008, -2/+1I agree, shallow and pedantic.
- RadicalEdward, on 05/12/2008, -0/+3pedantic - adj. - Characterized by a narrow, often ostentatious concern for book learning and formal rules: a pedantic attention to details.
i had to look that one up, lol. (^_^)
- unknamed, on 05/12/2008, -0/+13Title should be more clear, it's not about email spam.
It is, however, and interesting look at how people try to scam their rankings in the search engines.- WilliamDavis, on 05/12/2008, -1/+2All spam is email. There's no such thing as web spam... just bad search engine algorithms. If they spider junk and return it for their results pages, that would seem to be their problem and no one else's.
- ElbertF, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2So comment spam doesn't exist?
- WilliamDavis, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1Uhhh, Ok. All spam isn't email. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4464547279 ...
But google complains about "web spam" because their algorithms aren't good enough. The internet's full of garbage, but they index it by their own choice.

- hayzeus, on 05/12/2008, -1/+11Here's what Google DOESN'T know about spam: not to ***** bounce invalid recipient messages back to the putative sender. This behavior has been causing gmail to turn into a major spam vector of late.
- PatrickA, on 05/12/2008, -5/+2Title is incorrect, should read "What Google wants you to think it knows about spam"
- thailand1972, on 05/12/2008, -0/+2Google rankings are fairly easy to game if you have the time to spend link building. While Google sees link popularity as a signal of "trust", SEO will continue to exist.
- EnjoyFailure, on 05/12/2008, -4/+12Matt Cutts is one of the big shot engineers at Google and also a complete loser. Case in point:

- zyko, on 05/12/2008, -4/+3Adsense spam is OK because Google profits from it.

Wait, what? Buried as more buzzword garbage. - dunderballer, on 05/12/2008, -2/+1The example of the church hiding common misspellings of "catholicism" sounds more like SEO than spam to me.
- mrfoos2, on 05/12/2008, -2/+1I love the part where he said you probably shouldn't go to a church that engaged in SEO activities deemed evil by the Lord Savior Google.
- mrfoos2, on 05/12/2008, -1/+1I repent! I repent! How dare I blasphemy the Google Gods. I am shamed. How shall I atone? Turn off my desk lamp for 30 minutes?
