- Pattyo13, on 05/14/2009, -2/+14am i the only one that's ever heard of a google homepage? wasn't there an article on here a few weeks ago about "web 2.0 startup mistakes". rule #1 was something about don't make a product google has created, will create, or could possibly ever create.
- T3rry, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10about:blank works for me.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Nobody mentioned Protopage..
http://www.protopage.com/ - gosix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Hey, you should have kept your old comment:
wuh woh, wigg wroke webwag.
:P - sjalt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9*SIGH* darn google for changing the definition of "beta". beta means not ready for prime time, of course its going to have bugs. DARN YOU GOOGLE! darn you to insufficient fluorescent light.
- webtech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8More about Webwag in here:
http://go2web2.blogspot.com/2006/09/webwag-new-personalized-start-page.html - uptown, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Why would I want to "wag" my web experience?
- cma3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Its exactly like Netvibes and does YouTube as well.
In Netvibes click on Add My feed and then put the following the field:
http://youtube.com/rss/global/top_favorites.rss
I will stick to netvibes, Ive got over 150 feeds on 7 tabs...i am not about to stat over.
Nevertheless, webwag, for those that have nothing set up yet may be a good alternative. - el_jefe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I like my start page to load in under 30 seconds....
- blcarson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I think netvibes is still the better looking out of the three - this feels like a developer made it.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"I will stick to netvibes, Ive got over 150 feeds on 7 tabs...i am not about to stat over.

Or maybe someone can figure out how to export the feeds from netvibes. - Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Great utility, but I can't wait til people come up with good names for their Web 2.0 product. There's only so much 'webwag' and 'goowy' i can take..
- razei, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I just keep my homepage at google classic. More useful than about:blank.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The free-move thing doesn't work. But the normal screen blows Netvibes away in speed. It's as fast as a desktop app, while Netvibes still feels like a clunky browser-app.
However, you'll note that netvibes is looking to hire a new coder, so I think they will improve.
I like netvibes' smaller windows (fits more on screen) and the page preview window.
I bookmarked Webwag though, looks very promising. - attila, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5It looks good, I played with it briefly. I got frustrated when I tried to move blocks freely. I'll give it another shot later today. Thanks for the sharing this Digg.
- Thorpe, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Anyone convinced to switch from Google to this yet?
- dmoney06, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5webwag is loading, please wait a few seconds..
5 minutes later.... - carguy84, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2google.com/ig for me. Always have the lastest info everytime I open myt browser.
- bmc2010, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Agreed, way too slow for me. I think I'll just stick with Google's homepage.
- PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5Yep, sucks. Too bad. Not a great first impression.
- H2SO4, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Dead as a rock.... been loading for 1/2 hour
- philo23, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Lots of javascript errors + non loading code, no digg for you...
- dep01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like pageflakes.com way better...
- Blaknyte, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Beat me to it. Protopage is simple to use, infinitely customizable, and just damn cool. You can make pages public or private. Not trying to sell anything but if you want to check out mine - protopage.com/blaknyte - and no nothing you do will change it on my end, when you move something it will ask if you want to get your own.
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3It's beautiful! A lot like NetVibes, but does YouTube and all sorts of stuff.
- Ignitedude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3All you need for a start page is
http://popurls.com/
All the best news stories from the web helps create the perfect home page.
Webwag sounds pretty interesting though, shame the servers overloaded. - HoboMaster, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Meh... it's just google's homepage with tabs. big deal.
- saolsasl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@Ignitedude
well actually you don't.. you need http://www.originalsignal.com pop on steroids - PAJK, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Shut the hell up. Spam is something that has just been whipped up...does this look like someone just whipped this up? This deserves to be on the front page. It's a Web service, not a stupid blog post.
OK, I checked it out, and it's great. Love the email support. - twe4ked, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1its working for me :S
- Coreguy, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This is just what I wanna say
Protopage rocks - Goner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Been my hompage for quite a while...
- tike012, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1page loads fine for me. looks the same as all the rest.
- FrPoisson, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Hi Guys,
Just to let you know that we are taking into account your comments very closely.
We are on early stage and it is true that now we do not have enough servers anymore. We are working on it and the loading should be faster over the next few days.
But we still continue to innovate: our toolbar helps you to add a widget from any site you're visiting. (http://www.webwag.com/_tools/toolbar/).
We will launch soon an exclusive podcast player and last we will launch soon our Webwag Factory for developers to play with our API: the coders will be rewarded on Paypal on a pay per installation basis of the widget they created. To stay tuned on the Webwag blog (www.blog.webwag.com)
Thank you
Franck Poisson
Webwag Founder - tagawa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Totally agree.
Beta has become an excuse for releasing products/services that contain bugs. It's a cheap way of shirking responsibility and yes, Google are one of the worst. They could at least try to convince us it's really beta by announcing expected release dates. - diagonalfish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Apparently not. It's completely owned now.
- wildrices, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1A personal Google page on Firefox is much better
- creature124, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm more than happy with my google personalized home. It does the job, and my school proxy doesn't make an issue of it, so i can access it at school too. I have no need for this.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Kewl here's mine http://www.protopage.com/zinzius
- andr3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've always thought the place Netvibes has its opml export button was way too hidden thus unusable. cma3 just confirmed it.
- nyc90, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I am gonna stick with NETIVBES, this one is just a copy, I don't like copies ... plus NETVIBES just secured a 15 millions dollars investment, they gonna be there for long ;-)
- Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1netvibes still has meebo
- guice, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1For a WWW start page, it doesn't seem capable of handling digg load. It's just barely made the front page and it's already dead. Wow. They'll need new servers if they plan to go main stream with it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1which may make it perform better even though it dont look as nice
- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Gosh, I keep forgetting that I have a Google homepage.
But, this new thing is pretty... isn't it.
I still prefer single static start pages on my hard disk (edited with Vim). I guess that makes me old fashioned.
Anyway, I'll have to keep an eye on this new stuff. - primemover, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why should I use a start page with a huge logo "WebWag" on the top? This is why I use netvibes. It's like people who buy a nice new BMW and they drive away with dealership's sticker: "Big Jim's Auto Sales" for all to see. Aesthetics do matter...
- MacGyver2210, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1do they use COWS Ajax? I don't know if I trust webwags... :P
ps: I think the digg effect took over the mainpage at webwags - designscout, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You name it - it's not always about customizing.
