- jcims, on 10/11/2007, -2/+37Play viatalk matchmaker! Just randomly punch in numbers and giggle like a kindergartner.
- spookymikal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+28My concern is the having to put in a phone number... i didn't read their privacy policy because, well, it's not posted on their site. I wonder if they are saving the numbers for some sort of telemarketing database.
- synthox, on 10/11/2007, -2/+26They paying for diggs to get on the front page??
I really do not see how 10 min of free calling is front page material. - DjOverEZ, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22When Skype was free to land and cell lines I would call 2 people at the same time through a conference and not say a word. I'd just listen in on them telling the other person "you called me" "no, you called me!" At times, I'd call two people who knew each other and see if they'd finally realize who they were talking to. Incredibly funny.
- HeyNow76, on 10/11/2007, -7/+26BEWARE!
Yeah their service i not very good and they screw around with your bill after you have already commited to their service.. also found this that shows similiar issues as far as billing and service:
http://www.trixbox.org/forums/trixbox-forums/trunks/ivr-dtmf-issues-viatalk-viatalk-call
I switched from their service a long time ago... don't get suckered in!! - samste, on 10/11/2007, -1/+14doesn't work for UK.
- jcims, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10The subsidies from the CIA and RIAA cover most of their costs anyway...
:P - Yanick, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10I just hope the flow of free calls does not kill the already flaky at times service.
- remisser, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9This service would be awesome if others didn't provide superior service. Like voipbuster.com which offers free unlimited voip calls to most landlines in the US and voipcheap.com -- though I guess talking for 10 minutes at a time must be fun for people who want a challenge. Oh, and be sure to read the fine print on these sites. Sometimes if something sounds too good to be true...
- str3ama, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8does this work for International?
I called myself ..it did work, but no one picked up :( - neuonyx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6This is great for prank calling.. Put in phone numbers of 2 people you dont like.. then they keep thinking one called the other.. too bad you cant listen in but its a great way to get back at people. ;-)
- klurt, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9ViaTalk SUCKS!!!
Tin cans and string are more reliable. - aexny, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6I wish they'd fix the service they provide their existing customers before offering a gimmick like this. After a couple of months with ViaTalk, I feel like I've signed up for a beta. Except that I'm paying for the privilege. Take a look at the viatalk forum over at dslreports for some good background: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/viatalk
- jmp478, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5VoIP Buster does the same thing without time limits. It's free too.
http://voipbuster.com - rodgy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I doesn't work in south america
- 47knight, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Is it just me, or is it not working? :(
- Universal, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Just get a GrandCentral number, and block them if they call.
- sitric, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3you can always use numbr.com to have that extra privacy you are looking for.
btw, the service is USA-only. - bysubmitted, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I'm glad that I can email it to a FREIND. (see the link on the page.)
- goob, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Works great for me. I had it call between my two brothers and then I called one pretending it had connected me to him. Pretty fun :)
- matthewmusic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2This has been working great for me. I don't see why people dislike it, it's great for short calls.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -1/+3Try the Cinco digital phone system: http://www.bobanddavid.com/cinco.html
- astrojith, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2For some reason, its not working for me. It keeps on asking me to enter the 'correct' area code. I'm from India. Would that be he problem ?
Besides, like HeyNow76 said, this thing may not that good in the inside. I mean, free calls for 10 min is too good to be true. And, think of it, this can be misused by terrorists. Like, if I were a terrorist, and I punch some random numbers and call a number, that poor guy who's number he used is going to get accused. Not the original guy. Hmm... - astuteObserver, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Use their service to make two delivery joints call each other.
- bkemper, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2What, like they're going to accidentally market to them?
- Loyaleagle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2except it seems to suck....
i tried to call my grandcentral number and it sent me off into the wrong area code and i got some stranger....weird - Professr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Voipbuster is definitely NOT unlimited. It's only 60 minutes to only destinations marked as "free". Dugg down as spamvertisement.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"we have no INTENTIONS of storing, selling access to, or marketing to any numbers dialed via the service." (emphasis mine)
i see what you did there ;) - cactus476, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Okay... So I get dugg down when I'm right. Gotta love that.
- dreamlayers, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You don't have to register.
- azwethinkweizm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This doesn't work...
- darvian, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's a great idea. Wish I could be on the other end of some of these "calls" I just placed.
- voipdude, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The only reason they are doing this is because the call cuts out after 30 secs and they are not charged. I use http://www.voicestick.com and they work great!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3I think lavalife.com or some other dating website might help you better use your time and help you feel less lonely. :)
- dlhansen, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't get this service, apparently I am not capable of dialing a number?
- starf1re, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It scares me that people actually believe in dslreports.com. I used to work for an ISP that had an active relationship with them, and found they were quick to sweep crap under the rug if our general manager whined to them.
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I didn't work for me.
- nks533, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Via Talk is great... Looks like they are taking all of the customers of SunRocket... with some great offer...
http://nkishore.com/2007/07/17/now-that-sunrocket-is-gone-what-should-you-do/
Free calls is great and they will add values to their service... hope they will provide the service to rest of world also for free........ - acceptab1euname, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://www.numbrx.net/2007/07/08/employee-sells-personal-information/
http://www.itnews.com.au/newsstory.aspx?CIaNID=15478 - dspp, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You may be right about the ViaTalk service (I am not giving them my phone number for a "free" 10 seconds), but I would be worried abut Sunrocket. At GigaOM I just read reports that Sunrocket "is going down" . http://gigaom.com/2007/07/13/the-sunrocket-is-down-for-the-count/
- Ireland, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That putting calls together has been done before, with hilarious consequences: http://gingerpixel.com/?p=158
- acceptab1euname, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Am I the only person who smells a bunch of shill posts?
- Jacoolh, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Any I dea why this doesn't work?
- wycodreams, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Same, viatalk free is dead, dont work since many days ago, I write to support and dont answer me.
