Actually, this is famously known for being mistaken as a Photoshop. I haven't taken a look at the video clip, but the pictures are real. Such as this one:
"Just insane: http://www.aviationpics.de/prev/st%20maarten.jpg" - anthonyb415, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is really cool! It deserves the front page of Digg...I guess thats why its here again! Congrats.
- spiderland, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Marcelo: Don't repost this crap a 3rd time when this drops off the front page. Thanks.

hey stoopid, St. Maarten is in the Caribbean and is owned by the French and Dutch - gauge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yall need to quit whining about other peoples diggs. if you dont like the source, just close it. geesh.
gauge - cprior, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What is tech news is probably that: The ad empire strikes back with
"Ad Blocking Detected
Dear visitor,
We have detected that you have ad blocking software installed on your computer. Flightlevel350.com is a free website and we intend to be always free. However,(...)" - gauge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1you know, its funny how everything is assumed to be fake these days. i actually stayed on the dutch side of st. maarten right down the street from here. its completely true. there are big signs on that one strip of beach at the end of the runway as warnings from jet exhaust, etc... people get blown off the beach all the time. its pretty crazy just standing close by when one lands.
i would say this one is completely true just given basic odds. pilots are bound to come in low here and there.
gauge - PrometheuZ, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'll digg it again just for being pulled off the page early this morning.
- Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2How is a 747 not technology? The ability of a 747 to land on such a short runway involves in many ways many kinds of technology. So technology nowadays is personal computers and that's it?
- SweetsGreen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1"for some reason the water looks CGI"
The water in st. martin/maarten looks fake while you're standing on the beach, that how clear it is.
And if you've every been to st martin, you know how tiny the airport is (at least the one on the dutch side). I see nothing fake about this. - felchdonkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1funny, the site detects if you have adblocking software and asks you to turn it off in order to see the site.
Just for that, I won't be looking at the site. I don't want this to become a feature of other sites. If I feel like blocking ads, I'll block ads. - Flyinace2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i love that a well shot, high quality, properly lit, and correctly used camer footage is automatically CG! Have our standards of video become so low when we see the real thing we think its a fake? Would it have been better if the guy posted a video from his cell phone?
BTW 405 definetly looks like CG, but it don't think it was trying to pass its self off as real anyway...The little car would have been squashed like a bug by the weight of a 747. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice billimek...some are saying this is all lame, but the idea of standing right beneath a 747 coming into St. Maarten sounds like a real trip.
- Liembo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I made a point to visit Maho Beach during our visit to St. Maarten in February and will be returning again in April 2006. Unfortunately our visit was on a weekday so all of the landings we saw were commuters and no heavies or 757's.

Great little beach. I've seen a few photos where the sand has been completely scoured away by hurricane surf, but only to have it return a few weeks later. Kooky. - kenchie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I remember seeing the whites of some bloke's eyes as he sat at his desk as I came in to land at San Diego!
- pwallroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha its definitely a conspiracy against airports
- outerspaceapple, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Personally I'm glad it made it back on the main page, otherwise I wouldn't've been able to see this.
They did the same thing to one of my posts a while ago, http://digg.com/links/Video:_Fake_water_bed_in_a_store - Liembo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0re: St. Barts
That runway is insane. The airfract basically have to follow the profile of the hill down to landing:
http://www.hu-friedline.com/carrib/runway.jpg
Despite St. Barthelemy being such a snobby island, I'd go back and hangout atop this ridge and watch planes land.
Another, albiet small, photo of the St. Barts runway:

Yeah no doubt, I've taken off from there more than a few times. Feels almost like a vertical takeoff. Not only is the runway short, the rich goofballs that live over the flight-path forced the planes to takeoff at a steep incline to cut down on the noise. - ericscampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0OuterSpaceApple & Marcelo,
Come on guys - there's no conspiracy to take these stories off -- they just sink or swim on their own merits...
it's like when you send a *hilarious* email to your friends & NO ONE replies -- sure it sucks that all your friends don't share your sense of humor, but that's just life... and if you keep sending your friends (un)funny email, they'll eventually ask you to stop including them in your email circle (uh... not that that's ever happened to me or anything;-) - Marcelo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@geekboy...it comes in over a road and beach where people can stand literally a few meters right beneath the plane as it lands.
- Golbez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Heading there in June 06, I hope I get a window seat now.
- prowling-tiger, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Ya it was pulled because it was lame and has nothing to do with technology, not news, video is at least 5 years old.

- ericscampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0>727 diggs...still got pulled. Don't you see a problem with this...
Hmmm... OK, I see your point. It does seem like the Digg software needs a bit of tweaking. I assume (hope) the Digg programmers are still working the bugs out... - dognose, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0amazing, some of those videos of planes landing are NSFW
- version30.x, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Although I have seen landing before, it did lead to quite a few clips that I have never seen before that we're W.T.F quality -- dugg
The shortest runway in the world clip - Wow! - a cliff on each side of the short runway. - imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0looks almost fake but cool digg+
- jonesclp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would love to see a video of landing on St Barts......you cannot believe how they have to land at that airport. I thought i was going to DIE.

- kagayaki1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0why don't they close the beach? weird to me that people would be there when this was going on.
it's cool to watch in person from phillipsburg - seems like the planes are dropping off and going nowhere behind a hill. - mushoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nothing special, in Mexico City the wheel of landing plane bumped against the top a bus we were riding. The crappy bus almost tipped over.
- ericscampbell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Getting taken off the first time?
...not a conspiracy against airports, just old news... - vmxeo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0...shorter yet is the nearby island of Saba. (I believe it slightly shorter than an aircraft carrier deck). Of course it doesn't land 747s, but considering the runway is carved out of the side of a mountain, and the pilot throws the engines into reverse right before it touches down, it's a much more wild landing (yes, I've landed at Saba and St. Maarten several times)
- Vektuz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The website 'blocks people with adblocking software'. no digg.

Dear visitor,
We have detected that you have ad blocking software installed on your computer. Flightlevel350.com is a free website and we intend to be always free.
