- kuyamon, on 02/08/2008, -2/+131In other news: Terrorists have taken over our imaginations.
- heartcoldfusion, on 02/08/2008, -3/+128ENOUGH!!!!!! Is anyone else just ***** fed up with our stupid government's stupid ideas about trying to keep us safe? I'm so ***** sick of everything being about terrorism. Stop spying on us, stop telling us everything is going to cause the terrorists to win, give us our rights back, and leave us alone. I would rather die in a terrorist attack than live another day in a country that is afraid of everything.
- diadem2, on 02/08/2008, -3/+96Here's an idea.... you revoke the funding from the agency that came up with this bs idea and give me a refund on my taxes instead.
- viruz, on 02/08/2008, -1/+59This just in
US Intelligence: The Internet is a Potential Terrorist Haven!
Or
US Intelligence: Earth is a Potential Terrorist Haven! - ThePerkins, on 02/08/2008, -0/+52I heard counterstrike is a terrorist haven too.
- donveto, on 02/08/2008, -0/+43Linden Lab
Binden Lal
Bin Lal den
Binladen !!!! - jamesov89, on 02/08/2008, -2/+39If they really wanted to communicate over the internet wouldn't it be much easier to use a message board and not a subscription based video game? I think so.
- markperia, on 02/08/2008, -0/+31"Your minds are breeding grounds for terrorism. Don't use it and follow everything we say!' -The Government
- InsaneMachine, on 02/08/2008, -0/+28This just in: Terrorists breathe air, from now on we must stop breathing or the terrorists win.
- BingoPower, on 02/08/2008, -1/+27I guess they haven't discovered IRC, ICQ, Skype or MSN yet....
- bearpigman, on 02/08/2008, -0/+24Yes it's total BS. I can hardly see osama bin laden plotting his evil schemes via his second life avatar. Why would they use an un-encrypted, publicly available communication medium when there are far more secure, less detectable methods. Its like saying the US devises its military strategies using command and conquer.
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 02/08/2008, -0/+24oh snap our cover's been blown guys, lets go plan in Azeroth! nobody dares set foot there, for it will suck away their soul!
- tommyredcoat, on 02/08/2008, -0/+22Son, how would you like a job working for the United States Government?
- viruz, on 02/08/2008, -0/+19Let's nuke it
- Hazardc, on 02/08/2008, -1/+19wow look, a flag waving retard who doesnt even have a ***** clue what this country or it's constitution once stood for (clue: opposite of whatever just came out of that ***** mouth)
- smackhero, on 02/08/2008, -2/+20US Intelligence: Personal privacy and non-government-monitored spaces are potential haven for terrorists!
- Orion682, on 02/08/2008, -0/+16Just because they have less rights, doesn't mean we're not losing rights. Why don't YOU try what I did, living under Soviet rule, and see how you like totalitarianism? Maybe then you'll wake the ***** up and realize where we're heading.
- darkened, on 02/08/2008, -1/+16Dugg for the complete idiocy of this piecethat is supposed to be news. It's just a propagandized rant by a mouth piece of the CIA to get the sheeples subconscious to start accepting invasive monitoring more readily "to protect us" against the Second Life terrorist cells!
- Frost9999, on 02/08/2008, -0/+14This just in - paper a possible terrorist haven. US intelligence sources have been quoted as saying that "paper can sometimes be used to write a message, and terrorists are developing that technology to write terror messages." Paper has already been banned in the White House, apart from the shredded stuff used to line Bush's enclosure/office.
- Speed, on 02/08/2008, -1/+15You're starting to sound like them...
Digg is a haven for terrorists! - therealkdog, on 02/08/2008, -0/+14In the future all restaurants will be Taco bell, and everything you can do will be terrorist activity.
- bearpigman, on 02/08/2008, -0/+12So now instead of just worrying that some paedophile is gonna get me, I also have to consider the possibility that a terrorist might try to radicalise me over the internet. If I actually believed this crap I doubt I would get out of bed in the morning due to a morbid fear of just about everything.
- NoCt1, on 02/08/2008, -0/+12WoW - Terrorists Haven? - Thats what Burning Crusade stands for...
Second life - Where they can have all the goats they want?
Speaking of linden labs.. I havent played second life for some 3 or 4 years. and i get an email asking to join a group???? - lnxfi, on 02/08/2008, -3/+14I think US Intelligence needs to hire a teenager to run tech things by first before they open their mouths.
Seriously, Second Life? I think one of the older guys saw a banner ad for it and got scared. - captainpugwash, on 02/08/2008, -2/+13Lindin labs trying to get some press coverage?
- JFTF, on 02/08/2008, -0/+11This is just the government's excuse to get all up in our online bidness.
- uahgekido, on 02/08/2008, -2/+13I think I speak for quite a few when I say:
Shut the ***** up US Intelligence.
However, if you want to change the argument to include MySpace, then I might be down. You know, anything to get rid of THAT thing. - smackhero, on 02/08/2008, -1/+12there are such things as _private_ message boards. and they could use encryption as well, or just use some kind of messaging service. any kind of communications medium that affords individuals some level of privacy, and that the government cannot directly monitor, will be a "potential terrorist haven." what americans need to worry about isn't the possibility that terrorists are gathering in online virtual worlds, but rather that the government is so desperate to instill fear in the general public that they would stoop this low.
- TheOneTrueGod, on 02/08/2008, -0/+11They could use the damn ping command to morse a rot-13 version of next weeks attack on the Whitehouse. I didn't say that. And I wasn't here.
- inactive, on 02/08/2008, -0/+11Ha ha, "keep us safe", that's a good one .. oh, you were serious?
Their goal is not to keep us safe. If it was they would be spending money on securing our ports and borders instead of fighting an illegal war in Iraq that is just creating new terrorists and making us less safe.
Their goal is to keep us in line so that those pesky "rights and freedoms" don't get in the way of corporate profits. - typicalusername, on 02/08/2008, -1/+11This just in! Terrorist meeting at Durotar 7pm Eastern.
- ethanpack, on 02/08/2008, -0/+10A terror attack has just occurred in the World Of Warcraft! The citizens of Stormwind are devistated.
- Niteryder, on 02/08/2008, -2/+11Bunch of hysterical *****
- AndreiOttawa, on 02/08/2008, -0/+9The story is actually pretty good. The idea the US intelligence came up with is indeed ridiculous.
- jjmckay, on 02/08/2008, -0/+8This is a reflection of the collective human mind and the fear which often dominates it. Our government is loosely representative our of national paranoia, be it the loss of gas for our cars, terrorist acts, unemployment, etc etc. How do we vote? By fear? If we don't get our nationalistic programs (be it health care or wars on terrorists or drugs) then our deep down fears arise. These fears are that if we don't control as much as we possibly can, that everything will collapse (a fear of the future).
The widespread paranoia of corporations is matched only by the rampant paranoia of government. Look at history to learn this.
The human race is a dangerously insane species. - sindex, on 02/08/2008, -5/+1330 diggs. 3 comments. 1 ridiculous story.
- jezsik, on 02/08/2008, -1/+9Is this a "jump the shark" moment for the US intelligence community?
- ethanpack, on 02/08/2008, -2/+10Watch out everyone they're going to destroy the Second World Trade Center! Tune in to Second CNN or Second Fox News for details!
- Speed, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7I think "WMDs are a slam dunk" was enough of a "jump the shark" moment...
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 02/08/2008, -1/+8ManBearPig must be destroyed! We must nuke the portal!!
- omgTHEPATRIOTS, on 02/08/2008, -1/+8I dare ask the question, really, http://whoisterrorizing.us?
- mc4_a, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7This is one time that I agree. Let's shut it down...oh, and MySpace is full of terrorists too. Let's shut that down.
- tekano, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7wow what a nazi
- bearpigman, on 02/08/2008, -1/+8Jesus of course. Thats where he gets all his ideas from.
- sHockz, on 02/08/2008, -2/+9CYBERTERROR!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! THEY MIGHT MAKE MY COMPUTER GO KABOOM!
- ivandir, on 02/08/2008, -0/+7Second thing just in.
Human mind is a potential terrorist haven, we must stop it and control it. - MrNexus, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Hey, let's ban everything. That will show those nasty terrorists.
- alphgeek, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6Everything is logged in Second Life....there are no secrets there.
- nekochan, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6that won't be too hard. half is cybering, and half is furries going '*GLOMPS* =^___^='
- Orion682, on 02/08/2008, -0/+6People who have loved ones die in those situations are too close to it. They are emotional and should not be the ones passing legislation. That's how things like the PATRIOT Act get passed in under a week without being read. It's unfortunate, but it's also necessary to keep them from having a large political impact on the discourse. I would rather live in the Gaza strip than 1984.
