Two Brains Are Better Than One
phil-butler.com — Delving into the mysteries of the Web for the 10,000th time, I decided to go all out transparent and also help a friend today. You see, all bloggers and social networking fools use essentially the same strategies to get what they write notices. Whether the subject is super informative news or simply some refined spam...

- Surferess, on 05/20/2008, -0/+8"Digg users and many other social media types do not like to read in the first place" Thanks man! If that was a test I hope I passed.
- philbutler, on 05/20/2008, -0/+3Exactly! You pass every time in my book. Most people (including me) do not like to read too much that is not worth reading. This is the situation on the Web. Sound bites and hype have made reading a pain for some. This is a test to see if anyone is still home and paying attention.
- dynacrylic, on 05/21/2008, -0/+1"Digg users and many other social media types do not like to read in the first place. So, we need pictures!"
Typical "14 year old Digg user" strategy. This is why Digg is going to the cr@pper.
Buried as spam and thanks for wasting my time.
- pamil, on 05/20/2008, -0/+4OMG, Phil, when your mail box is invaded with crappy shouts about Obama for example reading is not what you choose to do. Some diggers completely ignore user profiles and send all their stuff without even considering who you are, which, in my book, seriously lowers the genuineness of the community. Frankly, how can my vote be relevant for Obama stories when I am not even an US citizen and I couldn't care less? OK, this is a facile example, but the best that comes to mind in the rush of the moment.
Between thousands of stories I see each day... which one should I choose? Luckily, a killer title does the trick. You say two brains are better than one, I say: "I need two brains." - LOL - rj3sp, on 05/20/2008, -1/+4I beeez able to read since the forth grade ya know! :-)
- psogle, on 05/20/2008, -1/+6My real brain does nothing for me anymore. I would be more lost without my computer
- secondbrain, on 05/20/2008, -1/+3i treat the www like my other brain
- johanahal, on 05/20/2008, -2/+3Refreshing article, Phil. We all know it, but nobody really talks about it.
I find myself having several second brains. The computer, the phone, my notebook... and when I think of it, even the wife is an important second brain to me. But now I use Secondbrain.com as my top level organizer. When I favorite a video clip on on my Apple TV or share an article I read in Google Reader on my iPhone I can always find it again in my Secondbrain - all automagically. - whatsrequired, on 05/20/2008, -1/+2How cool...refreshing take on how I manage my workflow!
- jumphong, on 05/21/2008, -1/+0cool indeed. i like my brains too, haha.
