- ale8oneboy, on 07/01/2009, -3/+59Ok, but "tweeet" and "tweeeet" are not protected. We'll just use "tweeet" or "tweeeet".
- Frostek, on 07/01/2009, -19/+73Brilliant - I get to bury this submission for...
1. Twitter
2. Techcrunch
3. Another stupid idea that someone is trying to trademark.
Triple bury score! ;-) - jhop, on 07/01/2009, -3/+57You missed such a good opportunity... Twitter to Twademark the Word "Tweet"
- nuggsgalore, on 07/01/2009, -1/+55What about Twatted?
- Fishn2, on 07/01/2009, -1/+47Sue the birds!
- ricemonster, on 07/02/2009, -2/+47Your mother's wasn't.
- shadebane, on 07/01/2009, -2/+38This is about as retarded as Paris H. TM'ing phrases.
- ha3er0, on 07/01/2009, -1/+33TechCrunch: Twitter farted today and it turned in to bubble with rainbow colors and a unicorn.
***** you techcrunch! - sexybobo, on 07/01/2009, -0/+31When twitter is out of business in 5 years none of this will matter.
- NickLee808, on 07/01/2009, -2/+32Somebody sure loves their Twitter.
- mywhitenoise, on 07/01/2009, -8/+38You're #3 makes you sound like a high school douche bag.
edit: actually everything you said does. - Zergvasion, on 07/01/2009, -0/+25Is "*****" protected?
- Zergvasion, on 07/02/2009, -0/+23That's enough out of you, Connery.
- LowHz, on 07/01/2009, -7/+28***** Twitter.
- kinerry, on 07/01/2009, -0/+21Um, it's been in the public domain for over a year, this isn't going to happen.
Maybe they should try "*****"? - decepticrat, on 07/01/2009, -2/+21I honestly don't think there is anything wrong with safeguarding your branding. A problem that I see here is that the 'brand' is a fairly common English word. And sure I'm aware of the laws about similar names being allowed to exist in different mediums as long as they're not considered competitors, such as Apple Records and Apple Computers (well, at least that was until Apple *computers* went into the music business)... but Tweet can easily apply to other communication items and methods (think a bird whistle named something like 'Tweet Greet'... yeah, a stretch, but not without merit in at least ONE lawyers eyes I'm sure). I dunno, I think twitter is already ubiquitous enough that this is really a non-issue--other than for conformity sake. And in that case, just create a style guide not legislation.
- juzz101, on 07/01/2009, -1/+18I'm sure tweetie bird will have something to say about this.
- Mawds, on 07/01/2009, -0/+15Sorry, I prefer to chuck my wood.

- ApolloXLII, on 07/01/2009, -2/+14i didn't think you could copyright an onomatopoeia...
- JackGrinnan, on 07/01/2009, -0/+12***** tweet. There, I said it.
- Xwhy, on 07/01/2009, -0/+12LOL. My first thought.
- zzz@tkz, on 07/02/2009, -1/+11I used Twitter for a few weeks...got a few friends to start using it, then I stopped. Why? It's pointless, I can just text my friends if I want to tell them something that's not that important.
I don't hate twitter, I just don't have a need for it. - GeekNurse, on 07/01/2009, -0/+10I don't think Disney would be concerned since Warner Bros. holds the copyright to Tweety Bird.
- whatthefu, on 07/01/2009, -1/+11You can trademark common onomatopoeias?
- homercles337, on 07/01/2009, -0/+10But past tense of twit is *****.
