- merreborn, on 06/12/2009, -1/+37It's still a ***** of a lot more than zero, which is what most companies are earning via twitter.
- Chadykz, on 06/13/2009, -13/+33***** twitter
- Junkyarddawg, on 06/13/2009, -4/+21I know Twitter cooperates with Digg but seriously, these thinly veiled commercials are annoying.
- christianboutin, on 06/13/2009, -1/+11zero is also what it costs Dell to twit those ads. win-win.
- TheMachine1, on 06/13/2009, -3/+10If I ever sign up to use twitter kill me.
- kingnova, on 06/12/2009, -9/+153 million is raking it in? That is half a day's worth of sales in one consumer call center.
1 million in 6 months isn't even a blip on Dell's bottom line. Nice commercial disguised as a news story, though. - Contradictions, on 06/13/2009, -2/+7Joe123 - Dude, I got a Dell
Sam736 - What did you get?
Joe123 - Click this link http://dell.com
Sam736 - Dude, I'm getting a Dell too!
Mark69 - F'n twitter. - TheEndzor, on 06/13/2009, -2/+7***** Twitter. And to any person who says the word "tweet" ***** you
- charm803, on 06/13/2009, -1/+5That's because as with any business, it should be about "you"and not "me."
Dell clearly offered a promotion to "you."
That logic is great when used in any medium, not just twitter. - ernasty10050, on 06/13/2009, -0/+3Hello twitter wake up here's your revenue option
- VitriolAndAngst, on 06/13/2009, -0/+3Joe123 Hey dude, I'm walking by the music shop right now.
Sam736 Is that guitar still there?
Dell101 For free sex, click this link http://buya.dell.com
Joe123 WTF?
Sam736 Yeah, It's probably a sucker ad, but the chance of Free Sex isn't something I can pass up. - Warom, on 06/13/2009, -2/+5It seems the only guys not making money from twitter is... twitter.
- rblancarte, on 06/13/2009, -2/+5So Dell is saying their customers are twits?
- ivan423, on 06/13/2009, -1/+3***** Twitter
- cyssero, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2I agree with kingnova and merreborn - headline makes it sound like there's tonnes of sales coming from Twitter when it's comparatively small. Still, $3 million is nothing to sneeze at (for any company) and it shows there is potential for other companies to make money off Twitter (now if only Twitter could figure that out themselves).
- aserer511, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2Apple claims,"Douchebag.com" marketing integration rakes millions of sales for it as well
- barryiggins, on 06/13/2009, -0/+2if this was, in fact, the case... game over, man. killer app
- bmcnally, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1Including Twitter
- dremspider, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1Here is how it works... if it cost them 3 million dollar to have someone twitter then they failed, if on the other hand it cost them less it was worth it. If a company were to say 3 million dollars is not worth going after, then they will be missing out on a lot. I am sure that this form of advertising cost them less then a few thousand a year (for the person doing it). I am positive this was worth while.
- TheGuruStud, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1Only thing dell is good for is telling people they bought a piece of ***** and when they have retardedly cheap sales where I know they're losing money, so I buy accessories.
- KibibyteBrain, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1@christianboutin Time=money. Plus, I'd venture to guess that the general liability of advertising through twitter is probably far from free, either, as its not for any other medium. There are far better ways Dell can spend staff time to rake in sales.
- inactive, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1Dell is just marketing themselves by linking themself by Twitter and shouting - Hell yeah We made 3 Million on Twitter. For a company like Dell 3 Million is just next to nothing.
- Natnie, on 06/13/2009, -0/+1I've twittered about how much Dell sucks since November last year.
- dequo, on 06/13/2009, -2/+3twitter can suck my balls
- charmaniac, on 06/13/2009, -3/+3Twitter - the new middleman.
- camg188, on 06/13/2009, -1/+1So the model here is that Twitter users follow username DellOutlet to, in essence, get spammed by Dell?
My guess is that if someone is following DellOutlet, it's because they are already prepared to purchase a computer, but want to get updates about any sales or deals. The immediacy of Twitter may give them an added feeling that they are getting the jump on some limited "black friday" like deals. Before Twitter, these same people probably would have signed up at Dell Outlet for email notification of sales. It would be interesting to see how sales figures from email referrals have changed compared to twitter referrals. - Junkyarddawg, on 06/13/2009, -2/+1To sell Astroturf?
- Traiklin, on 06/13/2009, -2/+1all they did was sold a server, a couple sticks of ram and a new PC.
Nothing major for the king of over priced items. - peterinjapan, on 06/13/2009, -3/+1Just so you know, I care about Twitter a bit more than I care about Digg these days. Just as Slashdot people cry ***** about Digg for stealing their thunder, Twitter will one day eat your corpse.
- rpgmakr, on 06/13/2009, -3/+1Tell that to the users that digg the story.
- musntSurfatWork, on 06/13/2009, -2/+0people &twitters who buy Dell don't know anything about computers. Pretty ironic since i build thosands of clones, and don't give a bird's ass about twitter.
- squatz, on 06/13/2009, -3/+0Twitter helped this woman rake my *****:
http://twitter.com/filthyrichmond - louiebaur, on 06/12/2009, -6/+1Tweet Tweet :-)
- norcaldude, on 06/13/2009, -10/+4dell puts out mediocre products. not even worth a tweet.
- YME1280, on 06/12/2009, -10/+2This just in: Twitter helps birds navigate!
- Pvisi111, on 06/12/2009, -13/+4Not overly surprised. Twitter market is GINORMOUS and can be a huge sales driver if used properly.
- bbslori, on 06/12/2009, -13/+3A great example of how Twitter can be used for businesses.
