- Quick2822, on 10/29/2008, -2/+116That sounds like some weird KaZaa/torrent hybrid that will then easily be taken over by crap and viruses.
I like going to a site and reading comments to get help or to see if the torrent is good. - AlanFang, on 10/28/2008, -2/+92Shutting down websites won't do it for the RIAA anymore, now they have to take down the whole freaking internet.
- antieffort, on 10/29/2008, -4/+93But where are the comments so I know whether it contains a trojan or not?
- isleshocky77, on 10/29/2008, -0/+80I think he meant the comment on the torrent. Most people look at the comments on a particular torrent before downloading it to know if the quality is good or if it contains a virus.
- deweyhewson, on 10/29/2008, -4/+51*sigh* Now you've made this necessary:

- jclay06, on 10/29/2008, -0/+40that was my first thought
- inactive, on 10/29/2008, -1/+39actually, you're the idiot.
the poster wasn't referring to the client, he was referring to comments on the torrent download pages of sites like the piratebay where peers can discuss the quality of whatever is being downloaded and warn each other about viruses, etc. it's a very useful benefit of tracker sites. - gospe1337, on 10/29/2008, -0/+37Except,
A huge advantage to websites like TPB (and to a far less extern MiniNova) is peer-reviews, quality control, and organization of content. Simply searching is not good enough. - noirhawk, on 10/29/2008, -1/+36It's a trap.
- SuicideMouse, on 10/29/2008, -0/+23...and we wont let them.
- thayle, on 10/29/2008, -0/+20It's a tarp.*
- Darkshine, on 10/29/2008, -0/+18Yeah, now the RIAA can host their own fake torrents and sue whomever is dumb enough to download.
- mickstephenson, on 10/29/2008, -7/+23I see my mistake now and I retract my comment
Note, its 3 minutes since I made the comment I could delete it if I wanted to.
My main issue with this is it does nothing in any way to aid Bittorrent, there is still a requirement for trackers, there is still an announce which lists all your peers, it doesn't make anything any safer for anyone all it does is make searching easier, what it does is give a false sense of security by claiming decentralization when all it is doing is reducing traffic to a trackers website, thereby depriving the tracker of ad revenue. - Skooma714, on 10/29/2008, -0/+15Oh they'll do it.
Australia and China are already on their way. - DeathfireD, on 10/29/2008, -0/+14KaZaa had a central server that constantly maintained a list of cached files that people where sharing. Tribler, I'm guessing, searches each person it knows in real time.
So technically now the RIAA and MPAA would have solid proof of who's sharing what torrent if they happen to be using Tribler to hunt for pirates. Sure, the only way they can tell if the file is 100% copyrighted is if they download the file from you but now they have a more refined list of people illegally sharing stuff. I sure hope Tribler staff think up a way to prevent that :P. - warkro, on 10/29/2008, -1/+15Didn't Suprnova the company do this? Exeem, anyone?
- scattass, on 10/29/2008, -2/+15sounds like emule. yay crapware!
- JRjJ106, on 10/29/2008, -0/+13***** THE RIAA
- ElBeh, on 10/29/2008, -0/+12Worst icon EVER. It looks like two penises attached to one pair of testes.
- scattass, on 10/29/2008, -1/+13This is what did it for me "several European universities and Harvard" Whats their interest in peer2peer protocol? Government subsidies me thinks so.
- scrptkid, on 10/29/2008, -0/+9They'll block every single tube with spackle and road tar if they have to. Anything to stop our misuse of the interwebs. (They might even put sugar in the gas tank of the dumptruck!)
- swifty29, on 10/29/2008, -0/+9BuddyCast, the decentralized search feature of the Tribler client is able to do so. Tribler project leader Johan Pouwelse told TorrentFreak: “It has taken us many years to get the zero-server search infrastructure called ‘BuddyCast’ running fast and efficiently. We believe that today BuddyCast is the most efficient, scalable, and battle-hardened algorithm out there which is also ready for user tagging and ratings in true buzz-compliant 2.0 style.”
In addition to the decentralized torrent distribution and search capabilities, Tribler aims to make the BitTorrent experience more social. For instance, users will have the option to boost the download speed of friends, the client will give recommendations based on your download behavior, and it rewards users who are good sharers while punishing those who leech. - xXShadowstormXx, on 10/29/2008, -0/+9Do not want.
- Vektuz, on 10/29/2008, -0/+8Oh good, now the RIAA doesn't have to infiltrate private trackers anymore, they can just query what everyrones sharing, to whom, and how much, directly, as long as they know one or two clients
- inactive, on 10/29/2008, -1/+9What ever happened to Exeem?
- Sabretou, on 10/29/2008, -0/+8"Our lawsuits will cover the Internet!"
"Then we will torrent in the shade!" - junkwheel, on 10/29/2008, -0/+7You can climb up the side of buildings. Us mere mortals have to make do with the internet tubes.
- Junior612, on 10/29/2008, -1/+8Tribler logo looks like a mutant two-headed penis and testicles.
- Philophobic, on 10/29/2008, -1/+8Silly you, don't you know that ALL keygens have trojans?
Or that's what the comments tell me, heh. - doctordbx, on 10/29/2008, -0/+7"In what way is Australia on it's way?"
You obviously haven't heard of "The Clean Feed" they're going to introduce. - SuicideMouse, on 10/29/2008, -1/+8It pains me to say this, but it's too late.
The rule has been demolished. - Evilblobs, on 10/29/2008, -0/+6Pirate Bay 4ever

- praisethelard, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5Either that, or an adult stick figure molesting a child stick figure. Or midget.
- weeFred, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5The decentralised torrent hosting/search is a good development, I'm not too sure about the "social networking" side of things though. I don't want to have to be somebody's friend to get fast downloads, I want everybody who is downloading a file to be given the same priority.
- Vektuz, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5It actually gets the torrent directly from others with it, that's the point.
- Ja50n, on 10/29/2008, -1/+6this comment is so bad that when i dugg it down it went from +1 to -65
- eminn3m, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5Your missing the most important part about this.
Now if it becomes illegal to host a tracker and they go down we have a backup option that doesn't rely on an external host that can be forced to shut down. In other words bittorrent's biggest vulnerability has been solved. - inactive, on 10/29/2008, -0/+5Yeah that'll really fill up your 500+gig hard disk

- techie4life, on 10/29/2008, -0/+4The logo looks more like its mooning us. That's of course if one half of your ass is smaller than the other.
- Mujokan, on 10/29/2008, -0/+4@Ja50n
I read this 30 minutes after you, and buried it just to see what happened. It went from +1 to -69.
Diggs are screwed up somewhat since the upgrade. They often get stuck at +1. But for some reason they display correctly on my history page, just not on the actual submission page. - TheCheeks, on 10/29/2008, -0/+4At least someone else recognized this idea. Anywhere know where Exeem is? Yeah, it failed horribly.
- aaronisreal, on 10/29/2008, -1/+5Hmmm...I make a point to do my torrenting on private sites/trackers...so, unless I'm missing something, if I want to continue utilizing private torrents, I'd have to stick with my private sites, yeah?
- Oztog, on 10/29/2008, -0/+4"Eat hearty for tonight we dine on porn."
- dacheetah, on 10/29/2008, -0/+4Rewarding good sharers with a decentralised system sound hard to do without having hacked clients reporting a sharing ratio of 9999.99 when it's closer to 0.01
- SuicideMouse, on 10/29/2008, -1/+5The answer, is in your question.
