TrafficLoader.com to Infect BitTorrent Users with Malware
torrentfreak.com — A new BitTorrent site has appeared which will allow scammers and spammers to infect its users with spyware, malware and viruses. An admin of TrafficLoader.com says that no bad torrents will ever be removed from the site and is inviting people to upload malicious software to infect torrent users.

- JakeW, on 08/09/2008, -78/+3Doesn't ThePirateBay.org promise the same thing.. and that they'll only remove things that aren't what they say they are? Or maybe they said offensive... does malware count as offensive? Because I hate it. = D
- D14BL0, on 08/09/2008, -2/+40If that's the case, then you're malware, because I hate you, too.
- strangewill, on 08/09/2008, -1/+8Well in that case, it needs to be labeled "malware.torrent" to not be removed, which I guess is your own fault if you download them.
- DestroyFascism, on 08/09/2008, -60/+12Another reason to use Linux and keep it locked down.
Compromised Win boxes sell for US$200 per lot. Lots of people making money there.- SintraKikuta, on 08/09/2008, -1/+22$200? You're getting ripped off :)
- arjie, on 08/09/2008, -0/+6per lot, dude. Botnet slices are sold at pretty high prices too. The Storm botnet had bits of it sold, reportedly.
- squirrelontv, on 08/09/2008, -4/+2You could easily just go to the dump and get those for free.
- CrudOMatic, on 08/09/2008, -23/+10Spyware / Viruses wouldn't be a problem if you noobs would actually explore your Windows systems.
XP Pro comes with all the tools you need to secure it - you just have to do it yourself. Also, Linux noobs have a hard time understanding the Windows security subsystem - It's not the primitive B.S. that you find on *NIX
It's ***** easy to secure a Windows XP Pro machine - the people who don't know ***** about it call the OS "Comprimised"- TheGuruStud, on 08/09/2008, -3/+15ROFLMFAO!!!!!!
- mrsteveman1, on 08/09/2008, -1/+6yea.....i'm not even sure you're serious, but oh well.
It's not about tools, its about flawed architecture. Take for instance, the fact that in XP services all seem to run in the same address space in memory, or that they can interact with whatever they want. At least Unix separates daemons into their own memory space. - djbon2112, on 08/10/2008, -1/+3Just... wow... I don't even know how to respond to that...
I really hope you're a troll, because anyone that ignorant should be banned from using any computers!
- thirteenthcor, on 08/10/2008, -7/+2people don't use linux for good reasons that's why no one writes malware and compatible viruses... why infect only a handful of people? linux isn't very secure at all... its just that no one is openly attacking lniux users.
- Rolcol, on 08/10/2008, -1/+1Give me GOOD reasons linux isn't secure.
- 1timeuser, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2This guy is just talking out his ass. move along, nothing to see here.
- SintraKikuta, on 08/09/2008, -1/+22$200? You're getting ripped off :)
- adarkmethod, on 08/09/2008, -2/+359haha, looks like their host already got wind and dropped them like a ton of bricks
- je12u, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4yup, read about them talking about it here: http://www.pay-per-install.org/pay-per-install/153 ...
- LittleDas, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2wow, at only three comments too
dugg the article only so the rest of digg can see this epic fail
- s0merand0mdude, on 08/09/2008, -5/+224Did they think this would not be put on Digg somehow? Idiots.
- Senious, on 08/09/2008, -3/+91Another cheap threat that well never come to fruition....
- Alegoo92, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2And even if it does.. most of the geeks out on the torrents are Linux or Mac users, right?
- Wartyboskfapped, on 08/09/2008, -2/+219They'll be destroyed within a day, possibly hours.
- positron, on 08/09/2008, -0/+139They're gone.
- kd420, on 08/09/2008, -69/+14Oh, that's it guys. This whole torrenting thing was good while it lasted, but TrafficLoader will prove to be the downfall of P2P via torrents.
- NidStyles, on 08/09/2008, -5/+37You're an idiot.
- Narcowski, on 08/09/2008, -1/+34Was this an attempt at sarcasm?
- Alegoo92, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2Yeah and it wasn't a bad one.. at all. The "Oh, that's it guys" makes it really obvious.
- artfiend77, on 08/09/2008, -22/+4Wow, people don't get sarcasm anymore, huh?

- jhuebel, on 08/10/2008, -1/+2Of course, HoldenH risks getting himself banned just for offering invites openly on digg. Moron.

- LemonChicken, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1I have tried and failed several times trying to forward my ports. I can download all I want, but if I try and upload anything...it just won't let me. Alas, I'll be booted in a couple gigs :-(
- djbon2112, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1@LemonChicken: Perhaps it's time for a new router then, if the one you have can't even forward ports?
- metaliq, on 08/09/2008, -0/+51Fix!
Don't use their ***** site.- Stoyanov, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1I guess it is not about *us* using it rather than people with malicious intents.

- duckyinc, on 08/09/2008, -0/+147Yea, stupid idea. The whole point of malware is to hide under legit sites, posting it on iwantvirus.com isn't going to work
- borninda818, on 08/09/2008, -1/+10Am I the only one who actually checked if that was a real site?
- duckyinc, on 08/09/2008, -0/+4Some security researchers check these sites + spam mail
- borninda818, on 08/09/2008, -1/+10Am I the only one who actually checked if that was a real site?
- MagicIcarus, on 08/09/2008, -1/+53Nice when user submitted news actually roots out assholes!
That's why I look for user comments before downloading. - omgsideburns, on 08/09/2008, -1/+80RIAA? MPAA?
- norm7, on 08/09/2008, -2/+12***** THE RIAA!!!
oh wait - rome747, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4I doubt they care that bittorrent users are getting infected with viruses. I bet they're even satisfied.
- norm7, on 08/09/2008, -2/+12***** THE RIAA!!!
- trackerbishop, on 08/09/2008, -1/+125MPAA is backing this for sure
- headzoo, on 08/09/2008, -1/+44Satty removed the forum posts linked to in the article, but Google cache got it:

He doesn't mention the malware thing, so maybe that was something he decided to do later, to make his torrent site unique from the other 10,000 out there. - cl2yp71c, on 08/09/2008, -0/+35I just visited that forum and can't help but wonder, WTF is all of this Pay Per Install *****?
Just more adware and spyware for internet n00bs to choke on? - Justin6512, on 08/09/2008, -3/+75INTERNET, BRING THEM DOWN!

- getbusylivin, on 08/09/2008, -1/+4Linux doesn't have PeerGuardian.

- MalDON, on 08/09/2008, -19/+5This is why I use usenet.

- RonBurgundy76, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1***** snoozenet.
- thevoiceless, on 08/09/2008, -0/+5You guys really need to stop acting like it's your own little club; If you know anything about p2p you know about usenet.
Get over it. - InfiniteNothing, on 08/09/2008, -0/+3Don't most usenets suck or cost money? Again, too much trouble for the casual pirate.
- Narcowski, on 08/09/2008, -9/+5Shhh....
- dwninjungleland, on 08/09/2008, -0/+44Protip: Don't go there.
- asspants, on 08/09/2008, -2/+128as a person who makes a living removing malware, i endorse this site. please tell your friends and family to go there, it's just like limewire, but better.
- dyrshin, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3geek squad member, is that you?
- digitallysick, on 08/09/2008, -2/+17they will be destroyed so quickly
- mCanada, on 08/09/2008, -2/+31"This Account Has Been Suspended" haha!
- mrm3x1can, on 08/09/2008, -0/+32lol, it has like 10 Batman Dark Knight dvd rips
- aladrin, on 08/09/2008, -3/+10Does PirateBay remove bad torrents? I've not seen one on there (that I know of) but I've never heard of torrents being removed, either.
- Thedarklord187, on 08/09/2008, -1/+10To answer your question yes they remove bad torrents on their forum you can actually submit bad torrents that you or others have found. And as far as the removing of other torrents their policy is if its labeled correctly it wont get taken down
- tokabowla, on 08/09/2008, -1/+10And "bad" torrents will get sniffed out quickly by users and not seeded.
- deviantsteve, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1nuke em!
- iocc, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2yes.
all spam/virus/fakes are removed
- tlo182, on 08/09/2008, -0/+22Am I the only one who immediately had sirens and bells go off in their head at the sight of a web address with a name like "TrafficLoader.com" - the name alone sounds like your prototypical malware infested website. Seriously, pick a less obvious name, idiots.
- LemonChicken, on 08/10/2008, -3/+1thePiratebay.org sounds pretty conspicuous as well. Pirate, pillage, plunder your computer?
- AbdullahAbuDawu, on 09/12/2008, -2/+35TrafficLoader.gov
- RadioVibes, on 08/11/2008, -0/+1LOL! *****, why did this crack me up soo bad?
- Paranoidmarvin, on 08/09/2008, -0/+24Of course, this is more legal than downloading software, music and videos
- cyborg, on 08/09/2008, -1/+2It's cool if they never delete torrents, but it's not cool if they want to infect bittorent users on purpose, as long as they have a user comment section, I'm pretty sure avid comment readers would be able to root out the good from the bad. From what I read on the Google cache of the site, they said nothing about malicious content.
- InfiniteNothing, on 08/09/2008, -0/+6Personally, I've always thought piratebay's "correctly labeled" policy was the best compromise. If it's labeled Blaster Virus or whatever, why not post it. Maybe someone wants to study it on their virtual computer or something.
- deviantsteve, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Most ISPs have something to the extent of providing malicious content they will shut down you're account.
- evilgourmet, on 08/09/2008, -10/+2haha, Linux
- BehnoodMarvazi, on 08/09/2008, -7/+2He must like paying $1000 for photoshop.
- fadedangel, on 08/09/2008, -8/+3TORRENTS RULE THE WORLD MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA...
*clears throat* - amitbhawani, on 08/09/2008, -1/+10Seems their website is down, good that you have suceeded in your job and helped everyone.
- DoctorFaust, on 08/09/2008, -1/+11Isn't TrafficLoader the site that redirects you when you're trying to get good porn? I hope they burn in the deepest circle of Hell.
- dragonslayerX, on 08/09/2008, -4/+5I like the update at the bottom of their story that's funny *****!! Torrentfreak 1 bad guys 0 !!!! So lets thank Torrentfreak to inform us of these bad people and squashing their hopes and dreams hahahaha!!!
- bincoder, on 08/09/2008, -0/+6Upload malware that scans and deletes other malware on the users system?
Oops! too late, another one bites the dust! - jaythewise, on 08/09/2008, -0/+4Its odd on the forum they go on to rationalize the spyware crap they are installing on moron's PCs by stating torrent sites are full of thiefs and whatnot. Weird what someone can tell themselves so they do not feel like they are scum.
- tomd123, on 08/09/2008, -2/+2The creator probably uses GNU/Linux
- ethana2, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Haha, I've wondered if anyone would do that. A self mutating virus with no backdoors and multiple spread vectors called justuselinux :)
So like, what effect would those torrents have on me, are the files corrupt? Like, would I just have to get them from a different torrent, or would it try to do something, fail, and I'd still get the files I wanted?
- ethana2, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Haha, I've wondered if anyone would do that. A self mutating virus with no backdoors and multiple spread vectors called justuselinux :)
- BHO4Prez, on 08/09/2008, -14/+2Awesome!
Torrentfreak.com == conservative people
trafficloader.com == socialists
conservatives save the day again!- norm7, on 08/09/2008, -0/+2huh?
- Chainheart, on 08/09/2008, -0/+4A true ***** will politicize at every opportunity, and this is well supported by all of your comments as well
- silentjudas, on 08/09/2008, -1/+0are you an idiot?
also: conserv are ***** morons
go to hell
- slcseifist, on 08/09/2008, -1/+2Now that the Radio and Film industries are loosing in court cases all over the country, they are resorting to malicious and illegal means.
- pHreaksYcle, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Is that like losing but different?
- Theipolicy, on 08/09/2008, -0/+4Apparently the PPI community doesn't realize that torrents have a completely legitimate and legal standing on the internet; independent entertainers of all types can use torrents as a way to distribute their material to the masses, legally. There is nothing legit about the adware/malware/spyware that they make and force unknowing people to use.
- joey69, on 08/09/2008, -7/+1Omfg...i just REFORAMTED my computer a couple days ago...I got the WORST spyware EVER..Took FOREVEr TO TAKE OUT..and when i finally did...my explorer.exe kept crashing..so i deff had to format. But yeah...it was from a torrent. Even after i scanned it : (
Seems like its already here : ( - rock774, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1Torrent Fail
- AshSingh01, on 08/09/2008, -0/+7Yeah because bittorrent is only used for piracy, cut that fcking ***** already. I have had a torrent running in the background for an upcoming MMO for the past couple of days, the developer decided to host the 9.5GB beta client via their own bittorrent tracker.
When will people realise that bittorrent is a legitimate means for distributing large files?
Anyway it looks like trafficloader.com's account has been suspended, didn't they realise that the proliferation of malware/viruses is against a hosting providers terms use? - MrViklund, on 08/09/2008, -7/+1ROFL. What an ingenious idea! I'm all for it.
- highps3, on 08/10/2008, -2/+6There site is down. FAIL
- Ravatar, on 08/10/2008, -0/+4You mean mission accomplished.
- andys189, on 08/10/2008, -0/+3You also mean 'their'
- Yusayoh, on 08/10/2008, -3/+1I see what you did there!
- AzureRise, on 08/10/2008, -0/+6Isn't it illegal to purposely distribute viruses like that? I remember bounties were being offered by companies like Microsoft a while back.
- ethana2, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1As a penguin, I say it should be protected speech.
- 1timeuser, on 08/10/2008, -0/+2OMG YOU CAN TALK!
- ethana2, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1As a penguin, I say it should be protected speech.
- CAisBacK, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1Gad damn it you stupid....
