***** ...- cubs2234, on 10/12/2007, -20/+5Torrentspy is simply the best there is. Period. Then after that comes Pirate Bay.
- lhnz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"most popular BitTorrent site in terms of traffic"
Keyword: traffic - Flawless, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12An Alexa ranking of 329 for Isohunt makes perfect sense...
Where's the *****? - sinner0423, on 10/12/2007, -14/+1Isohunt, Torrentspy, Piratebay, they're all junk.
Private torrent sites are the way to go. I've received a dozen DMCA letters using public sites. The copyright gestapo pretty much hunt down every single public tracker and just rifle off letters to everyone who is connected. It doesn't take much brain power to click a link and see whose connected, a private site requires a little bit more effort.
I've been busted for using Suprnova, Torrentspy, Isohunt, etc. You name it, I've probably gotten a DMCA letter from it. The private site i've been using for the past 5 years that i've downloaded hundreds of gigs of stuff from? Zero DMCA letters.
I'm done using public sites, they're just an invitation to get your ISP up your ass about copyright infringement. - foobar5892, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21Remember, this is an Alexa ranking... (= *****)
- cpritchard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Please enlighten us as to what your point is (is that too high, too low, or other?) I haven't used anything besides Isohunt since suprnova went down, and its always worked great for me. I know its not the "top rated" or anything, but I've never had a reason to try something else...and no DMCA letters.
- SuperSloth, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6"Private torrent sites are the way to go."
Yeah. I already have a job. I don't want to suck up to some assholes on IRC for hours just to get something. Private torrent, ftp, IRC channels, etc all take *far* too much effort to get access. I'd rather just buy the damn thing. I don't want to be part of the scene. I get PeerGuardian and uTorrent, and then get what I want with no problems and no *****.
I got *one* C&D letter back in the late 90's, and that was when I was serving in college. They key is not to pick anything that makes you a big target. - Nerfdude, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6@supersloth
someone sounds bitter. it's amazingly easy to get on a private tracker. go to ANY forum on the internet, make a post asking for invites, and poof, ten minutes later you're on demonoid.. and 20 minutes later you're on oink and torrentleech :P
- NicksVideo, on 10/12/2007, -26/+4Oh BitTorrent, what has happened to you?
Newsgroups FTW.- greekgoat91, on 10/12/2007, -7/+5what are these newsgroups you speak of?
- NicksVideo, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9There's a nice, but rather old guide here:
http://slyck.com/ng.php
But what's the point if I'm going to get buried by ignorant P2P users who think Private trackers are the greatest thing ever? - Kypt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I do believe newsgroups are nice but it took me too long to find what I was looking for, and I also have to pay to have decent access (my isp's sucks...) While with torrent I just go to newb private trackers, look for what I want, cap my download speed and get it easily.
Maybe I just don't know where to look in newsgroup...i unno - ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2there are no such things as newsgroups

- steven401, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2Torrentspy remove things too often, I prefer Torrentz.
- YouKnowWho, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6ScrapeTorrent ftw!
- Archeologist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I agree, but it's been slower since the update. I prefer torrentspy for their comment system.
- Skurt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nope, Scrape Torrent pales in comparison to the newest

Much better
- u8myfoood, on 10/12/2007, -6/+2I think it's mainly because of aXXo...
- SicKn3sS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2aXXo are p2p kiddies and they can't accomplish *****
- Andiz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And ofcourse Alexa is a very reliable source.....
NOT!- Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Exactly. Alexa only counts traffic of people that have that POS installed.
- Kahnza, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Torrentspy is great and all. But you have to be careful as its watched quite extensively by 3rd party companies for the RIAA and MPAA.
- Hussassin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2too many adverts and too much pr0n for my liking
- fleischner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3There's no such thing as...
- rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Do we really need to hear which torrent website gets the most traffic every day?
- Flawless, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Demonoid.com is all I ever need...
Alexa ranking : 582 - allenm7, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Demonoid FTW,
Demonid has to be the best site, has a large number of files and almost all of them are good quality. - strictnein, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6We're discussing an article that is based on Alexa rankings of torrent sites. You think this could get any dumber?
Alexa is not accurate. End of story. - Fearnight, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Isohunt > *
- hansamurai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1btjunkie.org is an awesome scraper of all torrent trackers, I discovered it on digg and have never looked back.
- anomalya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://btjunkie.org/
http://scrapetorrent.com/- koonkii, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1scrapetorrent doesnt count, since it scrapes the results from other sites and formats the torrents into a nice neat list for you
- dhuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@koonkii
who cares? it still helps you find torrents that you wouldn't have otherwise. btjunkie has been the best site i've found for torrents in years... (although the pirate bay gets props for giving the man the finger)
- dodgyd55, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1pff i aint never used no webpage for torrents ill just stick with bit che
- malice8691, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Torrents in general suck. Seems like technology is going downhill compared to how it used to be.
- theghost, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1btjunkie.com has the bigest torrent dbase on the net by far!
- livejamie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1nothing can beat btjunkie
- adaire, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The great thing about Torrentspy is the comment system. It lets you know if the file is good or not. Nothing worse than downloading a few gigs of junk.
- PJBonoVox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Unless that junk is lesbian pr0n of some ilk.
- internetworld7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yes your absolutely right. This is why I love Torrentspy. If the files contain spyware or if the license keys are no longer valid, you won't have to suffer from wasting a lot of time downloading something that won't work or is simply malware in the first place. Some files are huge and they take a lot of time to download, so knowing ahead of time that a particular torrent is junk is a great time saver. btjunkie offers comments but most of the time it seems members just don't use it very often.
- PJBonoVox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When will people realise that only total ***** use Alexa, and hence only ***** are included in that graph?
Some real stats would be nice. - beggersfunk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I used them all and love all of them!
- schmiggyjk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Its funny to see mentions of torrentleech and demonoid as good private trackers...
The good private trackers aren't even mentioned here, and I am sure for good reason. Those may be private, but just how hard are they to get in to if all of you know about them? So that probably makes it just as easy for the authorities to get in to also.
Most of the "good" private trackers have pre-times of less than 30sec, and are usually as fast as top sites. Combined with the fact of using RSS feeds and their ease of use they become even easier to use then constantly checking ftps for content.
And surprisingly I have never had an issue needing to beg to get in to a private site. Me and some friends founded a private tracker back in the day, and have since just stayed close after that caved and I get most of my invites from them, and then others meeting people through those various sites.
Torrentspy, PB, and Mininova have their uses, for older content, etc. Just through up peer guardian, cross your fingers and go to town. But for new things, hot off the piracy presses, you cant beat private trackers. - estacado, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1pure tna FTW!
- Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I recently got into Demonoid, and I'm still kind of testing that out. I've always hit up the big three (mininova, piratebay, and torrentspy) and found the best file out of those. Torrentspy is still far and away the best in terms of comments, because you can go through a few pages and get a very good idea of what you're downloading and if there are any problems with it.
- bluenash, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1the genie...she done gone out the bottle, mon.
- 1hunglow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Easynews.com
- unixdotseth, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1 btjunkie.org is very good, try it
its better than torrentspy and pirate bay. - littlesquall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I usually go to:
http://torrents.to - boosh, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Torrentz.com is the best, it indexes everything including Torrentspy and has much less porn ads.
- xamox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Rock on. Maybe someday I'll make my way out to OC and meet up with the Tspy crew. Props.
