- Bloake, on 01/02/2009, -1/+45WTF? Geocities?!
- ThinkIcouldburn, on 01/02/2009, -3/+39My aunts and uncles are now trying to be my friends on facebook. My mother, for some bizarre reason, has two accounts. It's going to be heading downhill really soon.
- outoforder, on 01/02/2009, -4/+28Myspace sucks in so many different ways.
- ibenny, on 01/02/2009, -2/+23Facebook has been excellent for catching up with old friends. The 'people you may know' tool has helped me connect with people I haven't seen in years. It's no surprise that older people are starting to get into it now as well.
- McMaster88, on 01/02/2009, -1/+20You must be doing something wrong...I have not had a problem with any of these things. Virus's; solved with not "installing" the applications to the page because, well lets face it, bumper stickers is the only good one. Ads are small and I rarely notice them, and notice them less with adblock on, and I have never received a single mail/email of spam.
- hesse00, on 01/02/2009, -0/+19holy *****. geocities is still around?
- ShadowofAres, on 01/02/2009, -1/+19What's Window's Live Spaces?
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14ANGELFIRE!!!! 1998!!! W00000T
- jeffinfremont, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14I joined Facebook last July, now it's a permanent tab in my browser. I have connected with so many people it is amazing, and I really like how you can quickly communicate what you're up to. It's become an essential online tool for keeping up with people I know.
- seanruiseil, on 01/02/2009, -0/+14It's amazing that Geocities is still bigger than Flickr. What do people do on that thing?
- Cattywampus, on 01/02/2009, -0/+12I didn't know Geocities was still getting many visitors. It was very popular when I first got online (in the Stone Age of the Internet, 1996), but it seems every time in the last few years I've seen a link to Geocities on a Web page, I got the "file not found" message when I clicked on it.
- MaximusD, on 01/02/2009, -0/+11I check facebook a couple times a day. I enjoy it thoroughly -- some of the changes this year have been bad and others good. Myspace is just awful in comparison. I'm probably going to delete my account. I only check it maybe once a week and it's normally spam. Myspace has managed to stay stable in numbers over the years, but with the massive growth in usage of social sites that's pretty pathetic. I hope it dies a quick and painful death.
- seanieb, on 01/02/2009, -2/+13Geocities, Window's Live Space, etc.
That confirms it, ComScore pulls the numbers out of its ass. - BevansDesign, on 01/02/2009, -0/+11No kidding. I thought it died with the 90's.
- telepheedian, on 01/02/2009, -0/+11I talk to my real-life friends, using Facebook.
- GawtMilk, on 01/02/2009, -1/+10One for you, one for her secret family in Tijuana?
- jpmoney03, on 01/02/2009, -0/+7Older relatives joining facebook really sucks ass. I have things that I have no problem with sharing with friends that I definitely don't need my aunts and uncles or god forbid my parents seeing or reading. Facebook has been downhill since you didn't need a college e-mail to join in my opinion.
- D3koy, on 01/02/2009, -2/+9Games (and idiots) are the only reason Facebook is getting worse. You are dead wrong.
- Mononuclear, on 01/02/2009, -1/+8No because you only let friends write on your wall and you don't friend stupid people that get trojans.
I have had those messages on orkut just because I have some idiot friends on there that get trojans and then it posts that crap on my scraps. If I get one and then tell them and then later get another from them then I delete them from my friends list. - St0neman, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6Because twitter is generally useless.
- JamesBondJr, on 12/31/2008, -16/+22I used to love Facebook, but for me Facebook has been going downhill this year though. Between virus threats, ads, and spam, it just isn't the good social network it used to be.
- flyingclutchman, on 01/02/2009, -0/+6I can't wait for twitter to go mainstream so digg can hate on twitter
- evilesttoast, on 01/02/2009, -1/+6Not even the 'your picture is all over *****-websitename.com. go there now.' stuff?
- tech42er, on 01/02/2009, -1/+6Luddite.
- ibenny, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4Interesting. Why did you join it in the first place?
So you could meet new people to ignore? - Mononuclear, on 01/02/2009, -0/+4This is by visits and not by users so yeah obviously blogger is top. There are many popular blogger blogs that receive thousands of visits a day, compound that across every single blog hosted by blogger and you have a lot of visitors. The majority of the visitors don't have a blogger account though. Facebook on the other hand has very few visitors that don't have an account so their traffic is mostly users.
If you went by number of accounts then facebook would probably win or maybe even myspace. I have had an account there for years but I also haven't logged on in years so traffic is lower but tons of non active users with accounts. - warhol15, on 01/02/2009, -1/+5that's funny, I left for exactly those reasons....
- inactive, on 01/02/2009, -1/+4...Blogger? Blogger has tops?
- diggdatt, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I already hate it.
- BootsyGraham, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3Dugg for the word Luddite.
- ryanbiddulph, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I like FB. Check it multiple times a day, easy to use, and no spam.
- btrues, on 01/02/2009, -0/+3I find it surprising how many people actually think other people would want to read their blog
- VinnieDaMac, on 01/02/2009, -1/+3I like Facebook over Myspace because it's cleaner and less junk, also less ads and spammers.
- diggdatt, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2Geocities has tons of old pages people have forgotten they created pre 2002. I think many people have forgotten their passwords as well.
- BigLeeThree, on 01/02/2009, -3/+5Windows Live Places. Really?
- BigInferno, on 01/02/2009, -5/+7I think that twitter.com will be one of the next big sites and it is growing at a pretty fast pace
- PeteBeast, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2I'm not dead wrong, it's a matter of opinion and I gave mine. If you find yourself using Facebook and think of it as your social life, be my guest. Just a heads-up, it isn't.
- warhol15, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2that's how it starts jeff.... and then things change.
- LANjackal, on 01/02/2009, -0/+2For those wondering about the Windows Live Spaces numbers, Windows Live is actually HUGE outside of the US, especially in South America and Europe. There, having a Hotmail account is the equivalent of having an AIM account in the early 2000s. But then again, Facebook is practically owned by MS, simply because MS is its single largest investor. Web searches on FB are done by live.com. Therefore from MS' standpoint you could practically combine the scores from both Facebook and Windows Live.

- telepheedian, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2wtf?
- pault107, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Indeed, I've caught up with a lot of old friends that I haven't seen for over 15 years. I bumped into a few of them the other night at a club and would never have recognised them unless I'd seen their recent photos on Facebook. Sad, but true.
- eminn3m, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2I was hoping for a witty image exemplifying how crappy windows live is.
- seanbecamethe, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2Booo
- Suits, on 01/02/2009, -1/+22009 is the year of MyfarmerSpace
- ladyarcher85, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1The only reason why friendster is rising is because too many Filipinos (Pinoys) make multiple profiles. It's the MySpace of the Philippines. Most of the people I know in real-life use it and many have three to four accounts.
- AMacIsaac, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Disagree. Twitter has been a wonderful addition to my networking platforms. All social media is what you make of it, not what it can do for you.
- AMacIsaac, on 01/02/2009, -0/+1Why no love for Photobucket?
- St0neman, on 01/02/2009, -1/+2No doubt! I had my account deleted from their d/b about a year ago. No matter WHAT I did to turn down the update information, I kept getting annoying wall feeds from people I included in my ignore list. After I removed every single application and group from my old account, I realized how useless it is. I joined linkedin instead.
