Top Diggers list is back
efinke.com — Digg removed its top users list this morning. I ’ve put together a script that displays the top 100 users at Digg, with the list being updated twice per day.
- 228 diggs
- digg it
- jman8888, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Didnt everybody see this coming?
- cfinke, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24I know I did. ;-)
- Popdmb, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10direct link: http://www.efinke.com/digg/topusers.html
Now the real question...will this get Big Kitty to shut the hell up? - andrewr, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Where's AlbertPacino, without him we are nothing
- charbarred, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yay! I exist again!
Saying that (and it's much appreciated, I'm not complaining) I took a screenshot this morning and I was 34, suddenly I'm at 30. My screenshot shows I was trailing behind tlmac59 (which I've never noticed before). Anyone knows why he/she is not on the new list? - techdandy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3Great idea but I think this should be kept on Digg.com itself.
Digg my story if you believe in that:
http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_Shouldn_t_Remove_Top_Users_Big_Mistake - EmmSee, on 10/12/2007, -14/+2Can you add a column for $ accepted for submitted stories? We know supernova17 is #1 on that one...
Basically this is the same list as "who has the most friends on Digg." - ChumpChief, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Kevin Rose has 210 popular stories out of 209 submitted?
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Get a life, EmmSee. You don't know what you're talking about.
- koregaonpark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@ ChumpChief: I heard he had one removed.
- skyer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Thx cfinke! you are one of the people that make Digg so special. *applause*
- cfinke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ChumpChief: a temporary glitch caused by the timing of the script updating, as Kevin got a frontpage story while it was running. It will work itself out.
- jasnmb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+51.) I feel like it's missing some users. Yesterday I was #110, but now this says I'm #99. I've only had 1 story hit the front page in the last 24 hours and I wouldn't think that it would cause me to jump up 11 spots, but maybe I'm wrong.
2.) Will Digg send a Cease and Desist letter for this?
In any case, this rocks Finke! - diggamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3By the fact that this has made it to the front page so quickly, it's easy to see that the Digg community is overwhelmingly against the removal of the top users list. I wonder if Kevin Rose will listen to the community and reverse his decision.
- rjani57, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ popdmb -
hope Big Kitty has not seen this post! Kinda nice not to have to read her rantings for a change.

Cheers, all. We're back! :-)- radicaldementia, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Yay, I can feel important again!!
- supernova17, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8w00t
- spinchange, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Im not even in the top 100, but this is cool.
- andrewr, on 10/12/2007, -5/+6I'm so happy that list is gone from the front page. It has become to much about the top 10 or top 100. Maybe now people will stop submitting stories endlessly in hopes of even making into the top 1,000.
- diggamer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Maybe now people will stop submitting???? Is THAT what you want for Digg?
- frant1c, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5The community has the power to choose. Digg admins don't have absolute power any more.
- johngardiner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5this isn't about absolute power... its about ensuring a variety of different stories get to the front page and that the top 'diggers' dont get paid to contribute things for different companies. Now you'll all say that blah blah they wouldn't accept etc. but the point is that there are people who would and that's not what digg is about. I encourage their move to promote variety and the chance for people other then the top 100 or so to get a story on the front page. Everyone should have just as equal of a chance.. and they don't right now.
- TheAttacks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How did you do this Chris? I'm curious. . . :P
- dharh, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6Point is Digg no longer promotes top diggers. If others wanna do that who cares. Digg will have the neighbor feature so you can find other people with the same interests as you. That is a far better feature and much more suited to this much larger Digg.
- ThatsUnpossible, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1I hate these meta-items. Just one day I'd like to read digg without seeing a popular story that is about digg. Navel gazing is just not my thing. I hope they let us create customized feeds in the future. I'd do title !~ /digg/ right out of the chute.
- amandaw33, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Any chance of getting top 250 or 500?
- GnuTzu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now come up with a statistics page that discourages sensationalists headlines and encourages meaningful (and mature) comments.
Though it may be nice to have something to shoot for, we need to be careful about how we choose our objectives. Digg has decided that we need a change in this area. Holding on to the past seems a bit weak.
Anyway, some statistcs are nice, and yes, I think most of us saw this coming. - JAKEJAX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@EmmSee: Don't be such a douche! Why do you even care? I personally don't care if this site is being gamed. If people submit quality story's, I will digg it. If it is a lame story, I will bury it. That is the power of DIGG.
