- cs188, on 12/09/2007, -7/+37"Ron Paul" isn't on the list?? This must be rigged. :P
- esta411, on 12/09/2007, -2/+23Google it.
- trogdor282, on 12/09/2007, -0/+21Together we can make Ron Paul #1 in tangential metrics!!
- connorcrehan, on 12/09/2007, -1/+217.Celebrity Sex Tape starring Ron Paul
- olivercross, on 12/09/2007, -1/+20It seems rather boring, I was expecting things like "how to make 5million from 4 pieces of chewed up lego" or something.
- alexforcefive, on 12/09/2007, -0/+16I was wondering about something related, so I'm going to hijack your thread now. Why are people googling for known web addresses? Specifically, why are SO MANY people doing it?
- tizz66, on 12/09/2007, -1/+13DON'T GOOGLE IT! NSFW!
I'm kidding. - eternal464, on 12/09/2007, -0/+9we are gonna have to fix that...
- elvisB, on 12/09/2007, -1/+10If we don't elect him our maniacal government might bomb your country next.
- mrjit, on 12/09/2007, -0/+8You mean only the USA cares about a politician in the USA, who conducts politics for the USA? No, really?
- HonoredMule, on 12/09/2007, -0/+8Because many tech-illiterates don't know the difference between the address bar, search bar, and input field on their home page. And that's also why search engines will happily just forward you directly to the domain if your search term is an exact domain...It's no problem for them if you want them to be an unnecessary middleman with some free face time and maybe a few ad impressions.
- AsSubtleAsABrik, on 12/09/2007, -2/+9Don't you mean censored?
- codyman, on 12/09/2007, -0/+5I was expecting things along the lines of "boobs" "breasts" "barely legal" etc etc...
- m0nd, on 12/09/2007, -1/+6who's ron paul?
- Curlz31, on 12/09/2007, -0/+5I actually thought of that about 2 secs after the edit timer ran out.....hahahaha
- keyme, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4Nothing too shocking. I wish they'd post keywords, not just known brands and websites.
- neodorian, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4But apparently THEIR spelling level.
- trogdor282, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4Heh. I was gonna say "what if I searched for 'Compact fluorescent reverse poop-chute tango,' wouldn't that cause an infinity percent increase in searches for that phrase?"
...But your post reminded me of Rule 34. Heh. - SanTe, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4People have to Google "YouTube," "MySpace," and "Facebook?"... ?!?! Lemme guess: these are the same morons we're now going to bail out of their sub-prime mortgages.
- thailand1972, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4Totally agree. Brand names typed into Google don't count. I strongly believe 99+% of those "searches" are actually methods of navigating to the site rather than natural searches. If you type "youtube" into Google, is it because you want to research the company "youtube", or do you simply want to get to the youtube website? Of course, it's the latter.
Also Anna Nicole Smith at no.10? WTF? Why? - MajorD, on 12/09/2007, -0/+4Uh, I don't actually see any link within the article that directly shows Google stating any information that even resembles the content of the article. Whatsoever. WTF?
Here's Google's Hot Trends: http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends
...which replaced Google's Zeitgeist in May 2007. - HaloZero, on 12/09/2007, -0/+3Club Pengiun is a social network for little kids I think......... So it's not most of digg's age group (ok maybe they're maturity level but not they're actual age)
- D3koy, on 12/09/2007, -1/+4If thier homepage is google, they can type in facebook and click the first result rather than having to type it into the address bar or open the bookmarks...I'm not sure, but that seems pretty reasonable to me...
- inactive, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2I care about Ron Paul.
- mrjit, on 12/09/2007, -2/+4Why do people google Facebook and Myspace? And wtf at Webkinz - but I'm signing up.
- ahvi, on 12/09/2007, -2/+4Dailymotion? 0_o
- thailand1972, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2Because people stupid enough to type "youtube" in the search textfield don't know this.
- coit, on 12/09/2007, -1/+3Is this story in the Top 10 duplicate postings on Digg?
Buried... - AceLy, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2Took you awhile.
- Ducksa, on 12/09/2007, -0/+2Seems to be like two months behind the times.
- goingtoalpha, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2My thoughts EXACTLY.
- BevansDesign, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2What the hell are Webkinz, TMZ, Club Penguin, Badoo, Dailymotion, eBuddy, and Hi5?
If I haven't heard of something that's supposed to be popular, the results must be rigged! - sleeknerve, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Wouldnt it be sexual related stuff, or do they censor that sort of thing.
- D3koy, on 12/09/2007, -0/+1I noticed you friended Mike Gravel...Do you care about him?
- olegk, on 12/09/2007, -1/+2Actually, "Ron Paul" beats "TMZ", according to google.
http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22ron+paul%22%2C+t ... - seantubridy, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1In large part, what this says is that people don't know what the address bar is. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to find that Apple website by typing "Apple" into google.
- manikfox, on 12/09/2007, -0/+12girls1finger as well.
- strypersarmy, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1my niece was always on webkinz... i guess its popular.
- ankit585, on 12/10/2007, -0/+1yeah Google and Yahoo clean their list not only for Adult terms but other objectionable content as well.Yahoo even removes names of major brands like apple, youtube etc as navigational noise.Frankly you don't want to see a list containing 7 terms relating to "free porn" in top 10 results .. more info here

Sounds about right. - Katsujinken, on 12/09/2007, -0/+0Seeing eBuddy up there with YouTube, Facebook and MySpace is kind of interesting. Wish I had some stock options in that little company...

- Evocati, on 12/10/2007, -0/+0To keep it out of the address bar's history.
