- badwithcomputer, on 06/13/2008, -6/+243anyone remember the days where the only way to host a file was to attach it to an email and send it around? good times...good times.
- johnjenin, on 06/14/2008, -2/+7old stories.. but still use..
- dleesgeetar, on 06/14/2008, -1/+93by "good times" do you mean "pain" ?
- iLemon, on 06/14/2008, -0/+68Remember the good old days when the only way to host a file was to setup a ftp server and then try to walk someone else through downloading and using a client? That was a really fun couple hours.. good times.
- CAPSLOCKISCOOL, on 06/14/2008, -1/+26Remeber the days when the only was to host a file was to send a punch card in the mail?
- poxonyou, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4Sadly, I do remember those does, quit vividly.
I feel old.
- wavesmachine, on 06/14/2008, -0/+74...and your mailbox was 2MB... how did I live? :S
- aflaks, on 06/14/2008, -0/+35you mean there is a BETTER way?!
- bbliss17, on 06/14/2008, -0/+16All these replies bring back great memories and also shows how far we've come, I rember the hotmail 2MB mailbox. that was insane.
- xsquirrel378x, on 06/14/2008, -0/+47I remember the days when we had to walk 2 miles uphill both ways in the snow to host our files
- thunderforce, on 06/14/2008, -2/+14Hosting? what is it?
ain't people using floppy disks anymore??
damn it!
- thunderforce, on 06/14/2008, -2/+14Hosting? what is it?
- Handonam, on 06/14/2008, -2/+18Anyone remember when Myspace.com used to be a file hosting site before it turned into a douche hosting site?
:( - joeanon, on 06/14/2008, -1/+7NO because I remember BBS's and IRC being vastly more popular than email to move files.
Remember all the modem transfer protocols in terminal clients when direct connecting to other BBS users ?
Kermit and such, I can't remember them now.
I used BBS for my file needs, then IRC, then p2p came out.
Email always had stiff attachment limits and performed badly.
Newsgroups were also quite popular, alt.binaries though I never liked them.
IRC hosting was were all this P2P came from and it's still alive and healthy, though aged and insecure.- lcmatt, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1IRC is still popular. I use a few channels to download rare files which are near impossible to find on torrents or other sources.
- jacquesm, on 06/14/2008, -1/+1files.ww.com , free, simple, fast... what else could you wish for...
- ethanfortes, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1how about http://senduit.com ?
- scarwars, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2anyone remember the good old jiffy bags?
two 1.44mb disks fit neatly in a small jiffy bag.. put on a couple false (homemade) stamps and send 'em abroad.... the good ol'days - jerkychew, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2I must be a nerd, I've always had my own server to host files for people... Way back in the ol' days of 1997 I had a Red Hat box plugged into its own T1 line at work that I used for, um, research.
- Brawle, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Anyone remember the days when we used..... snail mail? Or maybe rocks? Imagine copy laws with stone tablets "Is that a wheel? that was my idea! imma sue his ass!"
- valan, on 06/15/2008, -0/+8Pepperidge Farm remembers
- dimitrisokolov, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1
Anyone old enough to remember when we had to chop up image files and post them in sections to different newsgroups? alt.binaries anyone? you damn kids got it easy today. - neko, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Anyone remember UUCP?
- Reeze101, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2well there used tobe gmail drive was like a virtual hard drive that uploaded files to your gmail account but google cut it off months ago =(
- com2, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1I remember the day I got a 5 1/4 floppy on my vic20, I was king of the world that day, 512k on a floppy!!!
- psiaii, on 06/13/2008, -26/+1The time has changed and so the internet.
We have web 2.0 nowadays ... and some says that web 3.0 is here and knocking at door.- ileftfark, on 06/14/2008, -1/+33I've upgraded to web 6.0, and my internets are *screaming fast*! And all the colors!
- mboudro, on 06/14/2008, -3/+11Web 2.0 is a trend. It's just gradient buttons and big lettering. The real web 2.0 is the progression of Object Oriented Programming languages and clustering of database servers to increase TTL and handle the insane amount of data the internet holds.
- santaliqueur, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5Just leave him alone, and let him think he's saying something insightful.
- subxero37, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4TTL? Time-to-live, the part of an IP packet? Transistor-transistor logic, a nice way of making digital electronics? Weird abbreviation for "total"? Weird abbreviation for "Total", the cereal?
- chinaboyintexas, on 06/14/2008, -2/+0I think someone's stuck in Humor 2.0.
- samuraiswordsmn, on 06/14/2008, -3/+1I can has webz 2.0 ?
- zplot, on 06/14/2008, -4/+8This is a good list, but there is more to do with online file storage than just uploading files and sending them to people. That's a bit of a commodity now. This gets more interesting when you throw in online folders like in Xdrive and SkyDrive, plus collaboration on documents rather than just upload and shared downloads. Then there's sites like Box.net adding a platform and API. The list gets pretty long so we need top 10 lists (well, this was actually a top 7 list), but lets look beyond to some diverse options.
- sungoddess808, on 06/14/2008, -3/+153No mention of Rapidshare and Megaupload.com. The internet has definitely come a long way.
- phorty40, on 06/14/2008, -29/+3i LOVE rapidshare!
the speed for premium members is top notch. i could go on with how many things i get and their respective sizes but you get the idea. its a great alternative to news groups - Eminemdrdre00, on 06/14/2008, -1/+132Rapidshare is cool if you want to play "find the 4 cats"
- Okari, on 06/14/2008, -10/+2You rarely have to do that now. Most of the time it's "Happy Hour", and doesn't include any captcha.
- EgoManiac, on 06/14/2008, -4/+8What????
I hate that service... Find 4 cats... WTF do they think a cat looks like.
Then after having five attempts at this it then says sorry but it appears your IP is downloading already.
F**king pile of S**T - RaDeN305, on 06/15/2008, -1/+1It's really not that hard to find the cats. Get some glasses.
- EgoManiac, on 06/14/2008, -4/+8What????
- alpha88, on 06/14/2008, -1/+14I never want to find the cats. I usually lose.
- com2, on 06/21/2008, -0/+1then once you find the blobs of black that are the cats you have to figure out what the letters are supposed to be.
- Okari, on 06/14/2008, -10/+2You rarely have to do that now. Most of the time it's "Happy Hour", and doesn't include any captcha.
- 4d669, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5http://binaryfractal.blogspot.com/2008/02/top-5-in ...
- bwdd, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1That also says youtube sucks.
- Chadbr0chill17, on 06/14/2008, -1/+18rapidshare blows. makes me download my porn in 4 parts which = 4 days :[
- enterneo, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4i just restart my router, get a new dynamic ip, and start downloading the next part!
- Jarasmen, on 06/14/2008, -0/+9Yes, right. Because I love the Turing test at RS, and last time I've seen a free slot at MU was about... last summer?
- stevene, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2NON PREMIUM USER PLEASE ENTER "C385dcs294"
- doshindude, on 06/15/2008, -1/+4I REALLY hope you were using sarcasm. both of those sites suck ass. I'd rather not have popups/adware on my computer and I'd also like to not wait a forced 10 minutes for a file to download. Also, the "find the cats" CAPTCHA can bite me.
- deizel, on 06/15/2008, -0/+5If you read the above comment again, you might notice that he did actually say that, by not including them 'the internet has definitely come a long way'. You might then realise that this is not at all sarcasm, but straight to the point. If either of those two sites where to be included in this list his post might have sounded more like 'Mentions of Rapidshare and Megaupload.com. The internet has definitely NOT ***** come a long way at all.', has it?
- phorty40, on 06/14/2008, -29/+3i LOVE rapidshare!
- thenonhacker, on 06/14/2008, -8/+34Good Plain Ol' Simple FTP Hosts are still the best!!!
- synthoid, on 06/14/2008, -14/+2Nope. You are obsolete, my very outdated friend.
- Lukesed, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4^ This guy has never been to a topsite.
- btbtravis, on 06/16/2008, -1/+1Yes I think Go Daddy is a very good FTP Host
- synthoid, on 06/14/2008, -14/+2Nope. You are obsolete, my very outdated friend.
- hobsdv, on 06/14/2008, -7/+2great list
- oboy, on 06/14/2008, -2/+9File sharing isn't what it used to be. It's cheaper and quicker now. It's possible to use a combination of the 10 to store and share everything that you want without paying a penny.
- diggboss, on 06/14/2008, -3/+42i use filedropper.com
- affanjam, on 06/14/2008, -0/+11I love my 250GB of space with them.
- Blax, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5I loveD my 250GB of space with them, until they deleted my account and won't offer an explanation as to why. I was pretty sure that they erased all the free digg accounts as my friends all lost theirs as well, but I guess not.
- TH3W1R3D, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1That's unfortunate. All of my filedropper accounts still work.
- supersirj, on 06/14/2008, -1/+1It was actually 250 Gb (gigabits), which is around 32 gigabytes. Also, I think they lowered the limit to 5 GB now due to such high demand. Not complaining, still a great service.
- TH3W1R3D, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1That's what I had read, that they scammed us and its actually 32 gigs of space. Thats wrong though. Checking my account I can see that it is measure in GB's. Someone made a mistake and it has yet to be fixed.
- Blax, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5I loveD my 250GB of space with them, until they deleted my account and won't offer an explanation as to why. I was pretty sure that they erased all the free digg accounts as my friends all lost theirs as well, but I guess not.
- trixterIreland, on 06/14/2008, -1/+2I dont work for filedropper, but I have heard that there is current discussions with great interest for a proper official and supported API to allow you to write programs to interface with it. FUSE was an obvious example, although not the only one.
Being supported and purpose written it should enable users to use it without fear that it will break next week.
There is no ETA on this, I only know it because I was the one that suggested it and offered to write the FUSE parts, but I am specifically doing it so that it could be integrated into many things, not just a network drive. The intentions that I have at least are that the API will be public and documented as well. - zephyr42, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I love my free account with them! Oh and the upload rates are pretty fantastic.
- benburned, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1Can someone explain to me how filedropper works? I got an account a while ago from digg, though it seems you can upload things fine without an account.
- rapidoo7, on 06/14/2008, -0/+15GB file limit for no accounts
50GB file limit for free 7 day trial accounts
$5 per month 50GB
$10 per month 250GB
- rapidoo7, on 06/14/2008, -0/+15GB file limit for no accounts
- affanjam, on 06/14/2008, -0/+11I love my 250GB of space with them.
- skysman1, on 06/14/2008, -9/+224Dugg for not including Rapidshare in the list
- SquareEnix, on 06/14/2008, -2/+23indeed.
- arlok789, on 06/14/2008, -2/+18RapidSuck
- uhhNo, on 06/14/2008, -0/+16*****
- dullnation, on 06/14/2008, -0/+13Couldn't agree more, the last time I tried to download something there, I gave up over the whole cat thing and the download limit just takes the piss.
- r4ps, on 06/14/2008, -1/+7You cheapskates! Just get a freaking Premium account and then download your files with a with a decent download manager!
Trust me, it is the single best way to "download stuff". Better than any P2P solution out there ; full-speed downloads, virtually no risk of getting caught and there's just about as much content as on Bittorrent.- dullnation, on 06/14/2008, -2/+10A fool pays to download "free stuff".
- r4ps, on 06/14/2008, -1/+7"OMG!!! 25 cents a day to download my favourite TV series, rare music albums, movies I'd have to wait two weeks to finish downloading on Bittorrent because there are only about 5 seeders, etc… and all that at full speed!". Yeah. I'm such a fool.
- bweltondav, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Alright, I've heard rapidshare is supposed to be a great torrent alternative, but how exactly do you go about searching for files on rapid? Is there a pirate bay or rapidshare warez or something?
- Munkey106, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Bweltondav, check out MegaDownload. It searches both Rapidshare and Megaupload.
http://www.megadownload.net - dorkdork777, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3@bweltondav:
Check out Warez-BB. Accounts are free, and you can even add it to the Fx search bar. - dankybett, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3http://www.rlslog.net/ always has the latest rapidlinks, otherwise a quick google search provides dozens of sites and forums full links. I used to hate rapidshare untill I tried premium service, now I rarely bother with torrents.
- bweltondav, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3thanks a lot guys, i'll check it out. I'm a little wary--everyone on these comments proposing that premium rapidshare is good for anything is getting downvoted into oblivion.
- avsfan987, on 06/15/2008, -0/+4I agree, if you are willing to pay the meager 10 bucks a month for the premium service there is no better way to download things on the internet, NOTHING. It is miles faster than bittorent and forums like warezz-bb.org and th3zone.com are great for finding anything you want without any clutter. I love it.
- arlok789, on 06/14/2008, -2/+18RapidSuck
- GeorgeCarlin, on 06/14/2008, -7/+46Seriously how do sites like Rapidshare etc even survive. They put up the worst kind of spam ads too. Including male enhancement, and pharma ads. These sites are the way to go
- Albo23, on 06/14/2008, -3/+23Since when does Rapidshare have ads?
- phorty40, on 06/14/2008, -18/+1Rapidshare is amazing. Especially for premium members , its also one of the most widely used file storage sites on the net for *cough*warez*cough*.
- Dantetheinferno, on 06/14/2008, -4/+1Uhoh phorty40, be careful... If you don't put *Cough* around everything that the MPAA/RIAA think is wrong, they's gonna get you! Don't be a little coward. I download on RS all sorts of illegal *****.
***** THE RIAA - xxbrighteyed, on 06/15/2008, -0/+3@Dantetheinferno
Uh dude, I'm pretty sure that they can't legally charge you with anything if you cough
- specialK16, on 06/14/2008, -1/+16What the ***** are you talking about?
- mydigg1012, on 06/14/2008, -0/+18Half of the world's porn is on rapidshare :) They know how to survive.
- ZeRux, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3The post just below yours described it very nicely - their premium account is top-notch, which means lots of people who will pay for it and give the site proper funds to stay in the competition despite stupid annoyances and restrictions to non-premium members.
- allyant, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2I pay for a premium account so I can get my "Personal Files", works fine for me.
- wutname1, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2what are ads? i thought everyone used Adblock Plus
- 4d669, on 06/14/2008, -2/+3It has a catchy name and people are too stupid to think for themselves. Look at youtube. Face it guys, the internet is a way to spread the fail of everyone on earth.
- TheJalu, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1One of the rapdishare domians..the biggest one..doesn't even contain ads...
- Albo23, on 06/14/2008, -3/+23Since when does Rapidshare have ads?
- specialK16, on 06/14/2008, -1/+29Rapidshare sucks big time if you don't have a premium account. If you do have a premium account, believe you me, it doesn't get any better anywhere else.
- phorty40, on 06/14/2008, -3/+2AGREED
- lijamez, on 06/14/2008, -13/+3"believe you me"
Make up your mind. - nyrol2, on 06/14/2008, -1/+13A premium rapidshare account is amazing. I use mine every day! It seems to have the best content on it that can be matched only by torrents, but this is guaranteed speed.
- specialK16, on 06/14/2008, -0/+10Yup that's right. And they increased the 5 day limit to 50GB! Rapidshare is torrents at full speed. I rarely get torrents at full speed, but that's my ISP's fault.
- Roger, on 06/15/2008, -5/+1STFU please.
- Evi1d33d, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2If you have a dynamic IP then you can bypass the limits by resetting the modem/router. A real pirate doesn't pay.
- r4ps, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Yup... you'd have to do that 48 times for just one Blu-Ray movie. But yeah, a real pirate also must have too much time on his hands.
- wutname1, on 06/14/2008, -1/+3i hate those damn cat cpatcha they use not to mention the limit on # of downloads over a period of time
- shankarganesh, on 06/15/2008, -2/+2haha glad to know i'm not the only one who doesn't like rapidshare
- SquareEnix, on 06/14/2008, -2/+23indeed.
- BIOHazard87, on 06/14/2008, -1/+33FileDropper looks badass
- zephyr42, on 06/14/2008, -1/+4Indeed it is. A while ago they gave social networks free accounts, 250Gigs total limit of 5gig per file and it's simple, easy, and fast.
- thallium205, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2Yep I have one of em. :)
- EvilFerret, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5I was lucky enough to get the free lifetime membership. However it seems to have an issue with uploading the advertised 5GB. I've tried uploading some fairly large files and every single time the upload stops somewhere between 500-600mb. There's no resume feature so you have to start all over....I've never been able to upload files larger than 600mb without it freezing up on me. I've tried multiple times and it just doesn't work. The smaller files I've uploaded work like a charm though and the downstream is extremely fast. I would donate some money to them if they let me actually upload 5GB files.
- igob8a, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Yours gets to 500-600? I can't upload anything more than 50mb or it'll stop after the first 20 or 30 megs :(
- BIOHazard87, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1hmm that sounds good, at least the download is fast and 400-500mb always works ok.....
- zephyr42, on 06/14/2008, -1/+4Indeed it is. A while ago they gave social networks free accounts, 250Gigs total limit of 5gig per file and it's simple, easy, and fast.
- arlok789, on 06/14/2008, -1/+15Dugg for including FileDropper. I used to used it all the time and its great. Now that I have a hosting account, I don't need it anymore. 15 terrabytes = awesome.
- ufia, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3115 terabytes for yourself? Do you own the whole ***** storage facility?
- flarn2006, on 06/14/2008, -0/+8but filedropper isn't free :'-(
- someone173406, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2Not if you were here a few months ago.
- lianliming, on 06/15/2008, -0/+115tb, amazing! i also get a paid hosting account, but only 100mb available...
- ufia, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3115 terabytes for yourself? Do you own the whole ***** storage facility?
- cl0n3x, on 06/14/2008, -0/+8As long as the downloading service has a decent speed, doesnt make you wait X miniutes to download a file while you're supposed to check out the adverts, is simple enough for the average person to use, and doesn't cost an arm and a leg, then I'm all for it (FileDropper FTW).
- DroppedGT, on 06/14/2008, -2/+21Filedropper ftw
I've still got 249 gigs of upload avail =D - Myholyleg, on 06/14/2008, -4/+93The best image host is pretty much http://www.petaimg.com/
Allowed File types: *.jpg, *.gif, *.png, *.jpeg, *.bmp, *.tif, *.raw, *.psd, *.tiff, *.swf, *.hgp, *.pgf, *.xpm, *.svg, *.3dm, *.3dmf, *.ai, *.drw, *.dxf, *.eps, *.indd, *.mng, *.pct, *.pdf, *.ps, *.psp, *.qxd, *.qxp, *.svg
Maximum image size: 30720kb (30MB)
Also files are never deleted, you get unlimited bandwidth and you don't need an account.- theaceoffire, on 06/14/2008, -0/+42For anyone who cares, you can use sites like the above for any files by renaming the extension.
Files.zip.jpeg works great.- Matt2k, on 06/14/2008, -1/+17So they need to hire programmers in addition to working up a business plan. I'll pass it along.
- danielsamuels, on 06/14/2008, -2/+27Why is *.svg there twice?
- hpfreak26, on 06/14/2008, -1/+11Just to see if you'd notice. Congratulations. You passed.
- danielsamuels, on 06/14/2008, -1/+13What do I win?
- Supergenie, on 06/15/2008, -0/+10An underwhelming sense of accomplishment.
- neko, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Because it's awesome.
- hpfreak26, on 06/14/2008, -1/+11Just to see if you'd notice. Congratulations. You passed.
- canthraxp, on 06/14/2008, -7/+2Photobucket is also good, needs registration, but aside from that is good.
- cozinator, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1They also own tinypic, which doesn't require a regstration.
- Tddupre, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1try udohack.com
- MrManiac, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Now that everyone knows about it, you officially destroyed this image site. No way they'll be able to keep up with all the bandwidth costs now that your comment has +55 diggs on a front page article.
- kjcdude, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1That site officially sucks now.
They have no rank on compete or alexa. If an image is posted there and linked to digg it will definitely take down their servers.
- theaceoffire, on 06/14/2008, -0/+42For anyone who cares, you can use sites like the above for any files by renaming the extension.
- lmhoward, on 06/14/2008, -6/+2nice list.
- smackkmonkey, on 06/14/2008, -4/+102This is more of a Top 7, submitter.
- johnkelly84, on 06/15/2008, -0/+2They're numbered even, the submitter didn't even need to break out his fingers to count.
- squirrelza, on 06/14/2008, -2/+16It's missing the two best sites: Mediafire and Zshare
- Albo23, on 06/14/2008, -2/+13Yeah the warez community needs to branch off Rapidshare.
- ileftfark, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5A lot of file hosts don't allow for password-protected .rar or .7zip files. So I've heard.
- p0tent1al, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1How and why? These are the kind of short-sighted comments that just leave me without words.....
So, the whole Warez community is now going to migrate to "FileDropper"? When the RIAA and all these other companies come a-knocking on their door, what are they going to say? Does FileDropper support all the features that Rapidshare does? A lot of people really use their maximum allotted download size, which is 50GB currently. Can "FileDropper" handle a quickly rising influx of well over 1,000,000+ people from across the world, downloading 50GB EACH? I'm going to repeat what someone else said a little while ago: If you have a premium account on Rapidshare, it simply does not get better anywhere else. If it did, the warez community would already be slowly migrating to it.
That's the main reason people started using MegaUpload, because Rapidshare used to be the only real great offering on the block. - TexanPsycho, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1No respecting proper pirate uses web links.
- dhirschl, on 06/14/2008, -0/+5The link to Easyshare is bad, here's the correct one: http://easy-share.com

Rapidshare sucks because I can never do that cat thing..- Pacificblue, on 06/14/2008, -2/+7Yeh, me too 'always' get that "cat thing" wrong.. probably the toughest CATCHPA....
- wutname1, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5i thought i just sucked at reading or something, guess im not alone
- dullnation, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2http://www.imgdash.com/
Only for images, but it's straight forward and fast. - arpnuke, on 06/14/2008, -2/+3Megaupload is the best I've found. All the "good stuff" on the sites I go to gets put on megaupload.
- clesch, on 06/14/2008, -6/+12getdropbox.com is missing.
failfailfail.- Hyter, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3It's in beta and is more of a synchronizing service than a file host.
- sherbertbones, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3You can use it as a file host, and so far unlimited bandwidth. Good for pictures and mp3s.
- TritonVision, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Does anyone know where I can get invites???
- phorty40, on 06/14/2008, -11/+8Rapidshare is amazing. Especially for premium members , its also one of the most widely used file storage sites on the net for *cough*warez*cough
- burton3660, on 06/14/2008, -2/+3THiS IS TRUE
- atlandrew, on 06/14/2008, -2/+22Uhm...top 7...not top 10.
Seeing though that they forgot Amazon S3 and DropBox, it might as well just be a random list of file utilities...dugg down. - duckyinc, on 06/14/2008, -5/+1FAIL!!! Their down speeds are sometimes slower than torrents
- grungegbunny, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3Filedropper has worked great for me.
- misreto, on 06/14/2008, -1/+3fuxtor.com is what I use. Its safe and reliable. Those are good lists too.
- VortexSpin, on 06/14/2008, -4/+11Rapidshare and megaupload suck so hard, I hate it when people use them because of their download limits. And why isn't Mediafire on this list?
- Eminemdrdre00, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2I was just going to say that MediaFire is pretty awesome!
- d1g1, on 06/14/2008, -2/+14Where's the love for Bayimg ( http://bayimg.com/ )? With support for over 140 different formats (including .zip and .rar archives!) and a 100MB upload limit, it's definitely near the top on my list.
- Farik, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4But it's slower than hell...
- feliks2, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2And its created by the same people that brought you the Pirate Bay, it must be good.
- joshocar, on 06/14/2008, -1/+16Um, what about Dropbox?
It creates a folder in your My Documents folder and all you have to do it put files in it and they are uploaded to Dropbox. Those files are also automatically downloaded to whatever other computer you have Dropbox on. 2gigs of space. No need to upload or download. Free. Definitely the best of out all of them.- seanc6610, on 06/14/2008, -0/+3and the best part about dropbox is that you can share a folder with friends, so right now me and 4 or 5 friends have a folder together. whenever i put a file in it, it shows up on their computer in the same folder. it's incredible.
- plup, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2I have an account, too--but never got the chance to try it. Now it's time to make some friends..

- sherbertbones, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I just can't wait til they come out of Beta and let us buy more space. Unlimited pleeeeeease!
- TritonVision, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1Do you guys know where I can get invites?
- neko, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1your my documents folder? Which one is it, yours or mine?

- MistrBrownstone, on 06/14/2008, -2/+9I was excited about filedropper until I tried to use it. I have yet to successfully upload a file larger than 100 mb. Upload is slow as hell, and then it finally gets to 99% and just freezes. Everytime. I've tried it at home and at work with the same results. I can get tiny files to work (e.g. a 3 mb picture) but whats the point. Mediafire seemed ok.
- terminal157, on 06/14/2008, -0/+4I have exactly the same problem with it. That it freezes at the end after all that wasted time just sucks.
- Farmer77, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2Happend to me as well. Uploaded a 170 meg file and then it said "redirecting" and it never redirected. Got an URL not found screen.
- drcosquared, on 06/14/2008, -4/+1mybloop.com is also a very good storage site
unlimited storage space with 1 GB upload limits, although the upload speed is slow
plus its free - l815, on 06/14/2008, -3/+2mediafire anyone?
- Tritis, on 06/14/2008, -0/+1I would like to see a list which includes how these sites make money.
They can't be giving out all the bandwidth for free. - magic6435, on 06/14/2008, -2/+1.
- sreevatsa, on 06/14/2008, -1/+6www.adrive.com
Gives you 50GB free space....- bbliss17, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2wow that is awesome...I am going to check that out.
how much can you upload at one time?
- bbliss17, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2wow that is awesome...I am going to check that out.
- artfiend77, on 06/14/2008, -1/+6Hey, what ever happened to that exclusive offer to diggers for free online hosting?
- freebase, on 06/14/2008, -1/+10you mean filedropper, right?
they pulled the offer hours after it hit the front page. and then they broke the uploading feature for large files. kinda lame.
- freebase, on 06/14/2008, -1/+10you mean filedropper, right?
- TripKore, on 06/14/2008, -2/+1I used use Mediafire since it started, until i noticed it randomly deletes your files, so I'm all set. I just starting using new services, like adrive.com and "SHARINGMATRIX.COM" which you can upload @ max speed there unlike a lot of other sites where your they limit your upload speed.
- NewWorldIIDX, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2how come mediafire or mybloop isn't on there?
- solarwind24, on 06/14/2008, -3/+7Why isn't mediafire on there?
- sevenalive, on 06/15/2008, -2/+1mediafire BLOWS. Now there was this 1 hour i had to use IE7, and i tried to download a file hosted on there.
Popup ads and ads galore. Plus then want you to run an activex plugin. Also the file didn't download said error occured. When i did get on Firefox, it downloaded, no ads or popups. Thats because i used adblock. - xxbrighteyed, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1'there was this 1 hour i had to use IE7?' - sounds like a coverup to me
why couldn't you just download firefox from IE?
- sevenalive, on 06/15/2008, -2/+1mediafire BLOWS. Now there was this 1 hour i had to use IE7, and i tried to download a file hosted on there.
- rollerboy, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2This is enlightening for me. The only sites I was familiar with were rapidshare and megaupload, and according to the comments on Digg these are the worst :(
- scubachef11, on 06/14/2008, -4/+1dropboks.com
How is that missing on this list?- 2oonhed, on 06/15/2008, -0/+1pffffft....that site cant even show an faq without freezing up.....how is it gonna handle files?
- mahsah, on 06/14/2008, -1/+9I like http://filepoint.de/eng
While not a hosting site in and of itself, it allows you to upload to multiple hosting sites through theirs. Its pretty handy, that way if one gets deleted you have the others up.

MegaUpload.com - DentThat, on 06/14/2008, -1/+17Question:
How do these sites stay alive with no ads?- cdefreit, on 06/14/2008, -1/+17They sell your data to the highest bidder....
- therocksays, on 06/14/2008, -1/+16your using firefox.
- DentThat, on 06/14/2008, -0/+24oh yeah, I have AdBlock on. haha
- Rotzooi, on 06/14/2008, -1/+5Interesting that all comments mentioning getdropbox.com are getting buried. Dropbox is by far the most convenient, to upload files you only have to put them in your designated dropbox folder and all is taken care of automatically.
- waymon, on 06/14/2008, -0/+2Yea, but its beta and not public yet.
