- quomen, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20I'll stick with google.
- scottnash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Um, since Kooltorch only works with Internet Explorer, how Kool can it really be?
- grimfandango, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10LMAO @ kooltorch.com - what a pile of sh*te. It couldn't find a website if I surrounded the page with christmas lights and a giant billboard saying, "here's the site you want". And what's with only working in IE, get bent.
- mrspankeh, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Im surprised that http://www.younanimous.com wasnt listed, as it blows most of these engines away. It was just listed on digg a day ago also. For shame submitter, for shame. Buried as spam.
- theymos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I use search engines to find websites. That's it. I don't need to search audio(I use P2P) or blogs(no useful information). The fancy interfaces and tag clouds just slow down the time it takes to find what I want.
- bobcrotch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Whats funny is no matter how widely accepted something is as the best there always has to be the 'top x' better/faster/almost as good list.
Honestly if they are better than google then we would know about it. Quit posting these lists. - WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Use a real search engine, you damn hippies
- WarpFox, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4lol shill. do you think we're stupid or what?
- KarbonKopy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'll stick with some of the Google X sites I found on http://www.freewebs.com/goooglex/ . Gotta love the dock ones you can customize!
- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yeah, because I think something is a good idea means that I work for them.
Oh yeah, I keep forgetting that you need to be a negative person to be accepted into the Whiny Internet Forum Poster's Guild. - KissTheRing, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yeah dude, you have 11 stories that you've dugg since Dec. and all of them are from readwriteweb.com, how are you not banned yet, I thought digg was capable of picking up on spammers like you.
I say we bury this guy and bury this story by reporting as spam - wtf00, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I haven't ran into search engine better than google until than I stick with my google.
- grimfandango, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2MrKite: do you work for kooltouch (cringing as I write the 'k' in kool)? if not, I feel sorry for you.
- dukeblue, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Is it just me or did that look like a website of birth control pills?
- ireadnews, on 03/25/2008, -0/+1there are similar video search engine - http://vidslib.com
it's a search engine for video content that pulls from many different sources. There is a lot of content indexed from youtube, metacafe, gofish, google video etc. Very fast search process, relevant results. Most popular & commented videos and many more features. Worth checking out. - tOnybOgs, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2www.younanimous.com looked nice, and had some cool features, but I found it was very slow.
Google is super quick, accurate, and no fluff... Why would you ever need anything else :) - tobikow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2i use gmail and the customised page and seach of google. i mean sure, alternative is cool, but is it really better?
- Coffeedemon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1And thus a simple to use navigational search engine like google or msn will find what you want.
There is still plenty of room for tools that help you find *information* more effectively rather than just how to get somewhere.
Not a knock on google so get your hands off the red thumb... navigational search needs are different than informational search needs. Google-esque searches are great for the former and categorizing, clustering, etc is great for the latter. - ismozalp, on 12/05/2007, -0/+0Google is best http://www.oyunyolu.net
- cbergeron, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The problem with google is that they are the #1 marketing/advertising company.
In the same way I don't want doubleclick.net knowing what I search for, I don't need google knowing what I search for. I like the results, but I fear the future when they turn on the targeted advertising. - TheYellowMole, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Written: "At present, the KoolTorch technology only works with Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers.
We are working to remedy this problem and we apologize for the inconvenience."
Read: "If you're using IE, you're obviously already an idiot, so KoolTorch is the engine for you!" - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I use eMule to search for videos & multimedia.
- TheYellowMole, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3www.ninja.com ... deadly acurate
- dosukyou, on 01/25/2008, -0/+0If you wanna search all videos clips from youtube, dailymotion, spike, veoh, livevideo in one site - Go to http://www.vizhole.com ..
- hayesy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm sticking with google too.... but with a twist.
There is a site called www.searchkindly.org which is basically google, it uses google to power its search, but every visit generates money for a charity.
The site is non-profit, and donates 100% of advertising revenue to a charity chosen by user-voting each month. At the moment, every visit generates 1/3 of a cent for the charity - but this should increase as the site grows. It is powered by google, so you get awesome results, but the ingenuity of searching for charity makes the site that much better. - eprnetwork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Hey guys,
Can anybody tell me who is best in finding the right information at all? Ok, the nosy people, right? So, NosyJoe.com would be a good match for social search engine, is not it?
Ok, jokes aside, it is yet another project for a social search engine, which is still under major construction but I hope to see it up and running online in public beta very soon.

http://www.oyunambari.com/hile.php - joach, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1What about the google customized search engines?!
The google customized search engines can search any number of specific websites of certain specific interests.
Anyone can make their own customized search engine and others can join up to add websites to it!
You can also add any customized search engine to your Personalized Google homepage!
You can find an example of an embedded customized search engine on http://www.wallpaperreview.com (see the upper right search-field)!
This "Free Wallpapers Search Engine" lets you search over a hundred spam-free wallpaper sites in one go! I think it's quite handy. - adragons, on 10/12/2007, -7/+6Well, apart from your obvious spam....
Going in I thought it would be B.S. Who needs anything besides google right? Well, I was wrong.
The article lists some targeted search engines, like one for sounds - which could be very useful... - rkudasik, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Quintura is awesome!
- Mightyuser, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Technically speaking, we have 'search engines' and 'search sites'. Search Engines have their own search and ranking mechanism e.g. Yahoo, Google and MSN , and don't exceed ten. Search Sites(Majority) borrow the technology from Search Engines(From the Book how to Start an Online Business). Thank you for posting :)
- KrylonWolf, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0if they could speed up younanimous it might catch on...but im rather partial to

- MrKite, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1kooltorch.com is amazing. Once they fix the cross-browser issue, I'll be using it quite a bit.
- 99butcher99, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0it is IE only. Bury it as useless.
