- vhold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Well, that makes sense. The whole purpose of digg (in my mind) is to expose _new_ things. Google page rank can only reflect things that are already popular.
What is far more interesting is that if you go backwards in time with digg pages, you'll still see tons of zeros. It's not until somewhere around the 100th page ( http://www.digg.com/index/page100 ), which are links from 29 days ago, that you start to see boosted pageranks amongst sites that aren't already big. I only randomly poked around though, so that by no means is definitive.

- benliong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is indeed interesting. I wonder how accurate the page rank numbers are. To get an accurate number you'd pretty much have to crawl all the pages on the web, or at least crawl those that google crawled so that the number is relevant to google search result.

2 pages on my site rate PR5.
One is the entry to the chat room, which is raely used and probably not linked outside my site.
The other is a page really heavily hit on the net and even in the wikipedia.
PageRank used to be a measure of popularity and discernment. So high ranking sites were popular because other sites linked to them. It was a technique by which webmasters by linking to pages they thought were good, would bump up the rank of that page.
Now its been rendered useless by black hat webmasters fiddling the system.
