I'll send this link to a friend of mine who volunteers in a school of blind people.
Thank you! - inactive, on 03/17/2008, -0/+3I wonder what their revenue model is? And it errors out constantly.

- rdrysdale, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2The chic is freaking me out with no hair on the back of her head.
Otherwise, cool tool. Would have been useful a few days ago in a battle over pronunciation with a Canadian. - Phocion55, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2Endorsed by Anonymous

- Daz3, on 03/18/2008, -0/+2Ah, can you slow it down at all? Would be nice to have it read my E-books to me.

- inactive, on 04/11/2008, -0/+0Oops, I mean this one http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php
I got a java script error on this one. - shadowspawn, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1it's because it wasn't set up properly and sessions are overlapping. This isn't too hard to do, it looks like a tech example. Who the hell still plops a temp working directory on their sys drive?
- McShr3dd3r, on 03/18/2008, -1/+1I like this site for text to speech http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php no need to signup, but you are limited in length. Moar fun Text-To-Speech (TTS)
It is possible to change the way the speech sounds by altering the input text. Liberal use of commas is the easiest way to get better phrasing, especially in long complex sentences. Overall speed can be controlled using XML-style tags from the SSML standard, e.g.
this is speaking slowly .
this is speaking fast .
this is 50% slower .Precise pauses can also be inserted using the tag, e.g.
Break for 100 milliseconds Okay, keep going."
Break for 3 seconds Okay, keep going."Voices and languages can be intermixed using the tag, e.g.
Crystal, 1 2 3.
Mike.
Rosa, 1 2 3.
Back to Mike.
(how to program more functions http://www.w3.org/TR/speech-synthesis/) - ReadTheWords, on 03/31/2008, -0/+0I am happy to report that all the major bugs are fixed. There will be no more error messages, and the conversions are going extremely fast. We still have a few bugs reading the headings in RSS feeds, but the site is up and running again. I do apologize for the inconvenience. Please try out ReadTheWords.com again.
Thanks
