http://www.legoland.bubm.de/allianz.htm - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Mayhe he is 8 years old, so 1 year is a hell of a time for him
- Maeser, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11It has smoke. Now thats a lot of dedication. digg++;
- cyberdork, on 10/12/2007, -2/+13So you want hi-res pictures?
Here they are: http://www.legoland.bubm.de/allianz.htm - sinembarg0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10the aircraft carrier (previously on digg, learn to search) i think is better, not because its more detailed or more complicated, but solely for the fact the it was made by a hobbyist, not an employee of legoland. This arena is in lego land, and was made by someone, or a team of people, whose job is to make lego things all day.
- Woknblues, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12the actual STADIUM had opening day on May 30, 2005.... Just what exactly is your definition of "Old as Hell"?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11I NEED A LEGO STORY EVERY WEEK!
- Unr3a1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Cool, keep those lego involved stories coming. New to me. dugg.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8they are, check: http://www.legoland.bubm.de/allianz.htm for the high res version of these images
- greenbox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9but i've never seen it before so definite digg.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Well, you'd expect this one to look that good, it's in Legoland
They probably had a team making it - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5wow, very high res, this is what should have been dugg. good job.
the structure looks much different up close. actually, makes me appreciate the work more.. especially the meticulous placement of the people that is what truly makes it look realistic.. - charge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5best. lego creation. ever.
I love all the people in the stands ;o - knightblade2oo4, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4It was one of the more-dugg stories yet on digg, with over 5000.
http://digg.com/links/A_(gigantic_)_Lego_aircraft_carrier_ - tw0bit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4bad ass lego maniac
- TheQwe, on 10/12/2007, -7/+10and I get to thumbs-down all the smartasses who think it's their civic duty to call them "lego bricks". I'll call them what I damn well please, thank you.
- slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you look on the right side, in the light colored cutaway section, there's a guy taking a leak. Now, that's detail !
- nerdherder, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3It's to close to tell if this or the aircraft carrier is better, they both went over every little mundane detail.
- culebra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now I am mad at lego! Why havn't they brought affordable low-cost housing to the masses yet! I want a lego home!!!!
- jchalmer85, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The support beams are definately lego beams - but in the low res pics it's hard to see. The smoke is awesome, as is the color of the lights - the bright white of gas-arc discharge used in stadiums. I also love the lego Line Arrays hanging under the roof. That rocks!
- dopmwd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What I want to know is where are all the people complaing about other things not being "tech related"... I'm tired of lego...
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Although this is at Legoland, so it's not as awesome as a guy sitting in his basement for a year working on something like this, you still have to admire the detail and the sheer amount of man hours that went into this thing. Stunning
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The light is made using a new type of proprietary lego technology that utilizes Lego Photons, and the smoke is made using the new Lego Carbons technology.
It is very difficult to build light and smoke using legos, it takes a lego expert. my friend did it once. he's Super Cool. - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2high res: http://www.legoland.bubm.de/allianz.htm
- ConceptJunkie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Impressive piece of Lego engineering. I especially like the attention to detail inside the cut-aways.
But I can't be the only person who thinks this stadium looks like a giant toilet seat. I wish I had a glow-in-the-dark toilet seat.
Mmmmm.... glow-in-the-dark - kunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1that is awesome it even has lights and smoke! legos with smoke! this is crazy, this is crazier than the yearbook that i made for myself which is like 6 inches thick with full of pics
- drew12689, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2this "stadium" was built in legoland in california i belive and if you went there this would seem like nothing, the have rides built out of legos and well as towns its a very cool place to go even as an adult
- buddylee415, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1These pictures are from Billund, Denmark. This Legoland is probably much bigger and intensive than the one in California and Germany since the Lego factory is right across the street. I went there this past year and it was amazing. Here some of my own pictures from Legoland. They aren't high resolution, but they are still good. The Statute of Liberty had over 1 million blocks and Mt. Rushmore had over 3 million.
http://www.heroinc.org/picasso/denmark/index.html
Here's one of the rides they had there where you program your own ride on what turns and flips it will do.
http://www.heroinc.org/picasso/denmark/target124.html - VaporBro, on 10/26/2007, -2/+3I totaly saw this yesterday...
- drew12689, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What if someone runs in and break all the pieces :|--
its not like snapped on and thats it, they some type of substance to glue it, im not even sure if there actuall legos, or at least there not the ones you can buy in the store - syuusuke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3holy freaking smokes :O give this dude a medal or something because its fricken awesome!
- Arkz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4cant say iv ever seen the aircraft carrier, cant we get some linkage?
- Madguy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Cool, but not realistic enough... no fights in the stands! ;-)
- Ross, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those pictures are unbelievable. Maxxing out the imagination sure has amazing effects.
- Xopl, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1HAHA! I wonder if anybody else will get that.
- AnotherBrian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2"But IMHO this one takes the "lego cake" so far..."
Wrong, try this:
http://www.ericharshbarger.org/lego/wedding_cake.html - phoque, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Well, not solely but you won't apply at a LEGO-Themepark if you don't love making LEGO-stuff. So this could be called "fulltime-love" ;-)
But you're right about funmansion.com. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The hi-res photos are a bit out of focus... they should of used macro lens or something.
- slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Who said it was built by a Doctor ?
- konrad8ha, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2By the way, this is a model of the "Allianz-Arena", a fairly new soccer-stadium in Munich, Germany. The original rests in my neighbourhood and is quite impressive as well. The outer wall can be tinted with light to reflect the colors of the soccer-clubs that play.
- Zekaer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What if someone runs in and break all the pieces :|
- verticalmule, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.legoland.bubm.de/bilder/Bau_und_Test_Center_Erdbeben.jpg
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1impressive, but the aircraft carrier still my favorite.
- Erroneus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Since it's from Legoland, which is owned by Lego, i would say they got a pretty good price on the blocks :)
- AJRiddle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The aircraft carrier so pwns this. The aicraft carrier was made by 1 person in his house, this was at legoland made by an employee whos job it is to do that. The aircraft carrier had the insides done too, I guarrentee that the stadium doesn't have the insides done.
- slamm6, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Homer: "Jelly Donut...mmmmmmmm."
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Searched for it and I don't see the other digg submission ( http://www.legoland.bubm.de/allianz.htm ).
- chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1400,000 legos..... I wouldn't have the patients to even start that.
- dasch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I believe the pictures are from LEGO-land in Billund, Denmark. It's the official theme park of LEGO.
- hasbeen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Very Impressive.
