      Oh, and nobody made them subservient, we didn't have to, it's not like they ever had sentience or served something else, or had a choice as to what they served. They don't think.. Yet, sometimes I wonder what is subservient to what. Thing is, this whole thing hasn't even come close to playing out.

      The singularity WILL come, and has to a certain degree already, however we've just scratched the surface.

Here is an example of simple "blocks" that are connected via relatively simple rules that "evolve" into "organisms" that can swim, fly, run, fight etc. They are software entities in a simulation of a physical world, using genetic algorithms to "breed" the fittest competitors - the ones that through recombination and mutation fulfill the goals the best.
    It's pretty unbelievable how organic their motions look, while at the same time their physical embodiments (well, simulated embodiments) are so simplistic.

    And this is from '94! The author of this software, Carl Sims, is a very bright fellow.
