- rentmitchum, on 06/07/2008, -17/+194I for one welcome our new self-assembling robot masters.
- suprdaddy, on 06/07/2008, -3/+179More like 0.2 pre-alpha
- agsinger, on 06/07/2008, -1/+165Bender: You really want a robot for a friend?
Fry: Yeah, ever since I was six!
Bender: Well, all right. But I don't want anyone to think we're robosexual or anything, so if anyone asks, you're my debugger. - CaviMike, on 06/07/2008, -0/+133Forget 30 seconds, watch the whole thing.

Methinks he damn well knows exactly what's going to happen, but doesn't want to lose his funding... - InuX, on 06/07/2008, -0/+71Replicators!!

And thats how we can learn to kill them.
Lessons from Nature! - dib2, on 06/07/2008, -1/+63Please don't give them teeth!
- MaTT2011, on 06/07/2008, -6/+54Well hell, if they were running Vista they would inevitably destroy themselves.
Robot: Commence Killing Humans!
Vista: Program "killing humans" is trying to access your systems, is this ok?
Robot: Yes damnit! I double clicked it didnt I!?
Vista: ERROR ERROR commence system reboot
Robot: WTF dude!?
Vista: Program "ERROR ERROR commence system" reboot is trying to access..
Robot: F***ing thing sucks! ((kills self))
Problem solved. - RMSzero, on 06/07/2008, -3/+50We don't know who struck first, us or them. But we do know it was us that scorched the sky. At the time, they were dependent on solar power, and it was believed, that they would be unable to survive without an energy source as abundant as the sun.

- HiJason, on 06/07/2008, -1/+29Baby Terminators ;)
- aptanalogy, on 06/07/2008, -1/+28What if they join together to make a robot that CAN replicate...?
- Neoanarchist, on 06/07/2008, -0/+22That was a badass movie man. Thanks for the insight into nature's adaptability and complexity.
- CDoug03, on 06/07/2008, -2/+23too bad all the animation was done stop motion because they don't have the technology to self assemble yet. So, this article bring absolutely nothing new to the table except ideas and proposals....
- ideas1, on 06/07/2008, -2/+23Now that we have the left nut of the T1000; all we have to do is build the rest of it.
- duke_nate, on 06/07/2008, -1/+20AHHHH! Its the replicators!!!!!!!
- Popsgg, on 06/07/2008, -4/+23You think that is scary? All it was is a bunch of cubes bumping into each other. The part where it was moving like a spider was stop-motion, basically fake. Cornell University is a little bit further along then these guys are, you can see the potential of a few hundred or thousand of these things.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyzVtTiax80 - Exbzurq, on 06/07/2008, -0/+18That's when we get these fly-eating lizard-beavers...
- FutureGuy, on 06/07/2008, -2/+18OMG the replicators are here.
- h3llscaper, on 06/07/2008, -2/+17I don't appreciate your pro-robot agenda, you SILICONE SYMPATHIZER!
- rentmitchum, on 06/07/2008, -2/+17I remember when MacGyver fought the fire-ants. Here's a shocker: He beat them with a bomb. (sure, he blew open a dam, but still beat them with a bomb)
In that episode they used leaves as rafts to get across the moat they made. Trumbo was all like "Those mother *****!".. - dudefather, on 06/07/2008, -2/+17open source robots could be dangerous, but they wouldn't have any weapons
not until the next version of WINE anyway - revolve, on 06/08/2008, -0/+14Not fair! Nature got a head start.
- soil, on 06/07/2008, -1/+15Good Point!
I, for one, welcome the new, "Stop the 'I, for one' comments on Digg!" comment police! - barrakuda, on 06/08/2008, -0/+14No this is how you get rid of ants:

[0001001]-(this time with 0 pronounced 'oh') - ophello, on 06/07/2008, -4/+17The practice of replacing the "S" in microsoft with a dollar sign got old the first time someone ever did it.
- EpiXl33t, on 06/07/2008, -3/+15do the ones at the bottom drowned?
- amanilaenvelope, on 06/07/2008, -1/+13well the T-1000 looks phenomenal
......wait a second. - Navicerts, on 06/07/2008, -2/+14OK, teach them to process raw materials from the earth. Then you only need to make one and just toss it out the back door when you are done, the rest will take care of itself.
I would like to be there when the one is released though; it may give me some sort of advantage when they eventually take over. - RTourn, on 06/08/2008, -0/+11"no I don't think there any risk at all." famous last words?
- DivisibleByZero, on 06/07/2008, -0/+11So umm, let's all keep Jack O'Neill on the speed dial, just incase.
- chanop, on 06/07/2008, -0/+10ROOOOOOBOT HOOOOOUSE!
- rentmitchum, on 06/07/2008, -1/+11I ran your mom into the ground.
- gn0stik, on 06/07/2008, -0/+10... yet
- gn0stik, on 06/07/2008, -7/+17Uhmmm computers DID engluf human society. All of the bad predictions about what computers would do to us came true. Nobody really predicted the extent of the benefits, and the benefits, for now, outweight the drawbacks.
Oh, and nobody made them subservient, we didn't have to, it's not like they ever had sentience or served something else, or had a choice as to what they served. They don't think.. Yet, sometimes I wonder what is subservient to what. Thing is, this whole thing hasn't even come close to playing out.
The singularity WILL come, and has to a certain degree already, however we've just scratched the surface. - inactive, on 06/07/2008, -0/+9 Dood, put the LSD down, and walk away.
