- GeneralFailure0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20When exactly did the idea of a Google Phone become legendary?
- chris4404, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25@newsfanye
Damn you! Why! Why! Why! Do you have to do this to every post? What do you have to gain? Traffic to your Myspace? - whereisian, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Slap in a GPS receiver which plays with the mapping service and I'm sold.
- adidos, on 10/12/2007, -2/+19@newsfanye: You are making me love the "Block User" feature...
- medulla, on 10/12/2007, -2/+18considering this isn't very ingenuitive the only real question is...
will it blend? - Klowner, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16What you seek is the "Blog this link" tab seen at the top of these comments
- starvo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I don't think I want my phone to show NY restaurant info, when I'm looking at historical landmark in Boston.... ;-)

That being said, having just moved to Boston, the Old state house is a neat place to go visit. :-) - Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14Just to let yall know, it looks like newsfaynes/diggfan's myspace page has been removed.
- colinm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12If you've got a recent Java phone, you can do this already for free:

SameGame2: http://www.sdwdevelopments.com/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11HERE? That's a crappy name.
- dtd00d, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Yeah but the difference between the Google phone and all the previous blackberries and treos is that now you can do all that stuff in (0.09 seconds).
And feel lucky while you do it. - kalleanka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Lol, even my LG LX350 that only runs simple Java applications can run GMail, Google maps and do Google searches. I have all those in my mobile.
This is not anything new. It's just that these applications will be pre-installed on the phone. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Yeah, but can it sync with GCHEESE?
- SpoBo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9I think bHere is not that bad :) The next version will be called bThere, then bEverywhere .. and finally .. bGod.
- evilelf2407, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9buried as inaccurate.
this isn't a google phone. this is a partnership with a phone company that will make a phone, and preload it with google stuff.
this is like saying hp computers preloaded with aol crap is an aol computer. - flipmeat, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10This is very good. Most people would not know how to download the Google apps.
- verifex, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9It's a lame press release, but it says that this phone has google apps in it: http://www.newsmobile.it/telefoni/news/sgh-z720_foto2.jpg
- ajchavar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7to those who were digging down flipmeat, consider when any older family member gets the newest most expensive piece of technology they can find, and you need to walk them through, step by step, on how to email/play music/etc. while it maynot be revolutionary to many, it will make life easier for those who aren't tech savvy
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6gHere
- micro506, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I just added your blog to my blocklist. Yay!
- richpav, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Not to brag, but cell phones in Japan have had GPS mapping for a year or two now. If I want to, say, find the nearest ATM machine, it draws me a map and leads me to it. If I want to know how to get to a store, I type in the phone number, it'll tell me what trains to take then walk me the last mile. Sure wish I had that when I was in NYC last week. Oh, and it talks too. ("Please take the next left.")
My wife's phone is newer than mine and even turns the map when you turn. Works as a car navigation system too. - seoimage, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Its the fact that it has the Google name that makes it a selling point and potential craze. So now Samsung can Google it for you.
- Poco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5That isn't far off. The Samsung A950 has enough GPS functionality (receiver and cell triangulation) that my provider (Telus Mobility in Canada) offers a Navigator feature for this phone that gives you turn by turn directions to your destination. http://www.telusmobility.com/bc/wweb/navigator.shtml. I don't see why this couldn't work with Google Maps as well.
- greymarketbrain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4if google puts ads on your personal phone the service and device had better be free!
- JCSaint, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6HAHA, I get to comment before the 9/11 spammer can.. woohoo. it's the little things in life that bring me joy.
- brandiniman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I have a Sprint a920 and it has the same ability but I wish Google would program in the GPS functionality into it. One shortcoming of Google maps though... lose your data service... lose your maps. It needs to learn to cache maps at a certain zoom level.
- goofballjm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Digg this comment up. This was exactly my reaction. He is referring to the incorrect use of the word legendary.
Legendary: of or pertaining to a legend or to legends; consisting of legends; like a legend; fabulous
Google Phone is brand new, how could it be legendary? - hayden.evans, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4meh junk
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3unless it has a gps locator in it that syncs up with google maps, I'll stick with my blackberry pearl
- trashken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Think he was meaning to say bGone.
- jonj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i've got all these features on my phone already
- twalker294, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Download Berry Googler, GMail for Blackberry, and Google Maps for BB and you're set. I have all three on my 8700 and they work great.
- uacheesehead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I installed Google Maps, Gmail, and Opera on my RAZR. This announcement doesn't do a whole lot more than most of us can already do with our phones. In fact, it doesn't do any more - it's just built in rather than downloaded after puchase.
- howiloved, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2i think we get the point that Google is a registered trademark. jeez.
- hellhathnofury, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2my samsung already has gmail and google maps on it!
- wired4u, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Take that iphone
- Yashar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@ starvo
It was from the Microsoft ces keynote so I guess we can blame them. - SeattleGaucho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2With exception of Google maps due to some limitations imposed by T-Mobile, I already have all this on my cell. What's the big deal?
G - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+8The worst thing about newsfayne and his ilk is not the spamming of Digg. It is that since he...by his own admission...has dedicated his life to exposing the lies of 9/11, we will all be supporting him soon. According to his first MySpace page, he is 22 years old. Clearly he doesn't have a job. So your tax dollars are going toward his food stamps and free health care. Think about that. We pay hundreds of dollars a month for health isurance. (Even if your employer pays most, you ARE paying for it, since they factor in that cost when they offer you your salary.) And on top of that, you are paying to give newsfayne FREE health care.
- eth3l, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2love the 8700!
- Samstar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Legendary???
- ragipy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2And my samsung phone still can't run gmail application, good job google
- turquoisefish, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My Sony Ericcson has Google search built in, and Blogger. What makes the Samsung so special?
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The best Google mobile feature is Google Local/Maps for Blackberry!
It kicks all sorts of ass.. first it's a free download and all you pay is for data transfer, second you can actually scroll/zoom around just like the website and it's better than what I've seen for normal phones which is basically just an image you can't scroll. - shlemielo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3how is it already "legendary?"
- moylan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2so true. my nokia e61 has wifi but finding a free ap can be difficult as well. till data is cheap on these devices it'll be useless.
