- seldon452, on 10/10/2008, -9/+53I really don't need a whole interactive experience on every single ***** website.
These things tend to be cool for a few minutes then just get in the way of you navigating the page. - inactive, on 10/10/2008, -7/+29Nice to see Flash being used constructively instead of limited to ads.
- psion01, on 10/10/2008, -10/+23Oh ... look ... advertising for Adobe and their closed format.
- Archer007, on 10/10/2008, -4/+12http://www.dontclick.it
- mickstephenson, on 10/10/2008, -3/+9I agree I cant think of a single instance where using Flash is necessary or preferable. the only reason I have it installed is for youtube...
I miss stage6 so much.
Lets hope the advent of html5 video will kick it to the curb. - JohnFrazee, on 10/10/2008, -6/+12FAIL, if i have to spend time figuring out how to use it, then figure out what to do what what i use. I prefer text.
- booststrong, on 10/11/2008, -0/+5Some amazing flash work...
- mytCbumps, on 10/10/2008, -3/+8Nokia TT Hopper is cool!
- solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Yet if they used a generic page layout with product specs you would probably not visit it in the first place.
- AmandaQ, on 10/10/2008, -1/+6Groovy! I had fun on these sites and so did my kids. If you're going to advertise, at least make it amusing, eh?
- gallito89, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Hmm I should buy a lexus now.
- mikemx, on 10/11/2008, -0/+5Well said. The politically correct freetard w3c sycophants can't dream of having the creative talent , imagination and technical skill required to make these sort of innovative flash sites. given half a chance these whiny turds would burn down art galleries and museums and anything else that doesn't conform to their grey, flat and monotone dull world of zealotry
- dshPls, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Finally some Diggers who aren't stuck up CSS script kiddies. Flash is a great tool, I love to check out what the cutting edge developers are doing with it almost daily because they're always pushing the limit. People like the Bit-101 guy. I can sit for hours just experimentally coding stuff, learning and doing things differently. Not to mention the bad ass stuff people are doing with 3D integration, ***** images of 3d models we have 3D models rendering in real time with Papervision3D or some of the other opensource plugins.
If you tried the same thing with CSS then you'd be in awe of the same crap Flash has been doing since 2003, omg omg a image gallery with a simple tween effect! I ***** bricks yo! - zadadka, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4On Windows (especially Vista), and in some cases, on Mac?
Uninstall Flash, re-install Flash.
Solved.
Effective Flash uninstaller here : http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?ext ... - zadadka, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4Apparently, it's an experience thing...
- zephyrnug, on 10/10/2008, -2/+5point of what? of a great looking flash website? I don't know, bring in viewers, get people to buy your products, just having a terrific flash project, etc.
great sites, even inspirational to flash developers. - aramova, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4Nifty, but in terms of usefulness, even Gopher had these beat, yet alone Lynx.
It is quite creative though. - Rndm_Tngnt, on 10/10/2008, -2/+5Subtle...
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Good for you.
- stevekwan, on 10/10/2008, -4/+7These are wonderful examples of how you can use Flash to create confusing navigation and throw standard techniques out the window.
- crazymonkey, on 10/11/2008, -1/+4The Mercedes Benz site is just about unusable - try and find that black series AMG car on the www.mbusa.com site.
You'll be redirected to ANOTHER flash site that takes 10 seconds to load each and every care - WTF are they thinking?
In five minutes you'll be looking for the webmaster contact info to tell them how much they suck donkey balls.
Flash = epic fail
Only thing Flash is good for is games - everything else is *****. - solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4Guess we should sue Hollywood because movies do not comply with the blind.
Don't get me wrong, it sucks to have a disability but why should content for 99% of people be stripped and made generic for the 1% who probably won't even visit or are interested in to begin with? - badfish0116, on 10/11/2008, -0/+3Sweet Japanese Flash version of Metal Slug I found. If you can beat the boss you're a total bad ass.
http://www.thegameblazer.com/metalslugflash.php - solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3Except most "interactive" sites are supplemental to the main site. You didn't go to subservientchicken.com to get info on Burger King's nutritional value did you? The point of them is to get your attention to their brand.
- blackinthmiddle, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3While I agree that there's no usefulness in the Flash sites, what the hell kind of connection are you using that it takes 15 minutes to load the Lexus site, 14.4K ?
- Ricky138, on 10/10/2008, -1/+4red issue = nipple much?
- coldzero, on 10/10/2008, -2/+4Wow the Nokia one is crazy, same goes for Red Issue.
- dshPls, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2If you can't figure out how to use these sites your dim. If you refuse to figure it out you're afraid.
- mikemx, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3html5 sucks, w3c sucks, stage6 sucks, mick miserable-flat-earth-luddite stephenson sucks
- Axerman, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2That Ford KA site has to be the best use of Flash I have ever seen in a website. Anyone beat that thing with the pillow yet? I tried twice and failed.
- e68895f, on 10/10/2008, -1/+3Flash IS 508 Compliant, has been for a long time now.
http://www.adobe.com/accessibility/index.html - mikemx, on 10/11/2008, -3/+5a closed format that kicks the ***** out of a dozen ***** open source alternatives
svg is utter utter rubbish. suck on that freetard - mishaco, on 10/10/2008, -1/+3if only adobe would fix flash 9 . . .
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -2/+4great stuff
For the yawn inducing, Jacob Nielson following flash haters, the internet is big enough to have all sorts of sites. From simple pages of text, to advanced CSS / XHTML layouts, and immersive flash experiences. These sites show how creative you can be and still create a good user experience.
If you dont like flash sites, just avoid them you tedious, whiney little turds. Youre probably not the demographic they are targeting anyway. - solid12345, on 10/10/2008, -2/+4The only people who hate flash are nerds who blindly think consumers would rather stare at a white page with diagrams and product specs all day. The internet isn't about being technical all the time, you can have fun while you are at it.
- Rhendal, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2There used to be this site called Xeofreestyle, which was a company these two guys made to build flash based sites. It's down now, I guess the two kids who started went onto bigger and better things, but that site was pretty wild, especially since it came out in early 2000.
- TheTommyD, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2If you do it the right way you can tangle the cords in the Nokia one....cool
- mickstephenson, on 10/11/2008, -1/+3@dshPls get back to TrashBat.co.ck, Nathan. Just because you think you're creative doesn't mean anyone appreciates your *****.
- dshPls, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2Considering I've been working as a Flash developer for years, yes, people appreciate and pay me for my creativity. How much have you made doing the same work a 13yo girl on Myspace can do?
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+2"The loader itself has to be one of the most creative I've seen." - then you sure haven't seen much pal. Oooo a transvestite with a preloader - will the wonders ever cease?
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2I agree. They tend to try too hard to be creative and end up with something nice to look at (for about 10 seconds) but not very practical.
- dshPls, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2Enjoy your real player and HTML games, click the popup! is your favorite I'm sure. Html hinders creativity, if you're doing a boring information based site sure it's fine, but for all the cool stuff us Flash developers get the gigs.
- daschupa, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2Oh crapcakes, these are like flashbacks to all those atrocious flash sites that were all the rage a few years back. The Lexus site takes literally 15 minutes to load an kills your machine with abnormally sluggish controls. I'm going to go kiss CSS, I've taken it for granted....
- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2So davidwasman is clueless? Nothing special to see here.
- DevinJulian, on 10/12/2008, -0/+1YUMMEH YUMMEH! I RATHER LIKE ME SOME BOOBIES.
- mikemx, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2you are *****. one day when you surface from your moms basement and get a job and a life, you might aspire to owning a mercedes , and might be able to afford a decent pc and connection, and might even appreciate innovative and artistic design.
- RoQu3, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2yeah, 0 usability, those are sites for just 1 visit
- danjwray, on 10/11/2008, -1/+2*blocked*
- davidwasman, on 10/10/2008, -1/+2Read further.
Workarounds are not accessibility. Especially when I can just code in CSS/XHTML/XML and not have to worry about integration. -
