- Apocalyptic0n3, on 06/22/2008, -3/+187The Pirate Bay is amazing. I don't care if they do have an agenda, they are continually pushing the boundaries of internet law and keeping our freedoms from being infringed on. If there was one company as important to the web as Google, it's The Pirate Bay.

- DigitAl56K, on 06/22/2008, -1/+78It's not about caring what TPB wants.
The Swedish wiretap legislation is very unpopular among swedes (and of course many other nations). Imagine if many Swedish companies and citizens start asking ISPs globally to block Swedish IPs? Suddenly the country is in economic turmoil and is forced to revise its legislation.
Heck, Swedish citizens could block non-Swedish IPs from accessing their sites/services, and it would also contribute to the effect. Just put up a 403 page, "Not authorized: To protect you from our new wiretapping and surveillance laws [link] we are preventing you from visiting our website. If you don't like this, please contact the following government agencies..." - ShaggyRogers, on 06/22/2008, -6/+75Just curious - why would international ISPs care about what TPB wants?
- Bulldogge16, on 06/22/2008, -0/+64“Trust me, this war is not lost,” Peter told TorrentFreak. “We will win. We have many aces up our sleeves and we’re gonna use them. No worries.”
Glad to hear there are people left in this world who still have the spine to fight for what they believe in. As well as the smarts and the resources to put up a strong fight. (regardless of the issue) - insinuate, on 06/22/2008, -9/+65lets go ahead and get the "***** The RIAA!" and "***** The MPAA!"s out of the way
- CleverDan33, on 06/23/2008, -0/+54Silly man, you could have just used caps lock instead of holding down shift while typing. It makes it easier to be annoying.

- greenlight2001, on 06/22/2008, -7/+32I'll just watch... cuz I'm not overly fond of having balls in my mouth but watching that happen might be interesting (as a scientific pursuit only).
- tehbored, on 06/22/2008, -1/+23While it's true that they generate millions of dollars a year, their net income is much lower because of their huge upkeep costs.

- TheZorch, on 06/22/2008, -1/+15You know its sad when the Internet has to be saved by the guys at The Pirate Bay. Not that I'm complaining, I think they're idea rocks and I believe in what they stand for, but they shouldn't have to be the ones to get something like this started. Anywho, for a bunch of hardened and dangerous criminals (sarcasm) these guys sure are fighting for our rights pretty damn hard. Arrrr! Its the Pirate's life for me I guess. LOL
- Vindexus, on 06/23/2008, -0/+11And it avoids that embarrassing " where a ' should be.
- salmonmoose, on 06/23/2008, -0/+11That'd be "they're" dipstick. Only thing worse than a spelling nazi is a spelling nazi who can't spell.

- dannelander, on 06/22/2008, -1/+10Go tpb! But as for us swedes there is not much we can do. The new law (also known as the FRA-law in Sweden) allows for the government to monitor our traffic if it crosses our boarder.
But why do theywant to do it?
Well, apparently to "monitor outside threats" (aka terrorists). Yeah, I'm sure that the fact that the world police (that would be the American government, yes) want us to monitor Russian traffic crossing our boarder and stop/catch a lot of us Swedish pirates from downloading overpriced music and movies had nothing to do with the passing of the very intrusive law.
I just wish our government would grow some friggin' balls!
Still, I'm glad tpb keeps fighting for our rights! - zeabu, on 06/23/2008, -0/+8Maybe not the ISPs, or at least, not at first.
But we should nag our ISPs, and block swedish IPs ourselves. -
