- CrossfireCurt, on 11/14/2007, -1/+137Although I didn't agree with some of the stuff in the article, it was very well written and worth the read.
- inactive, on 11/13/2007, -12/+133Only thing she needs to be able to read is a cookbook.
- Eslamicolt3, on 11/14/2007, -1/+113Some of this is condescending, some of this is eerily true. Especially the bit about knowledge and inch deep and 4 miles wide.
- zeptobyte, on 11/13/2007, -1/+101Yup, this is for the end user.
- PiGuy, on 11/14/2007, -1/+96Wow. Spot-*****-on.
- wedgemartin, on 11/13/2007, -3/+81Forwarded to my wife. I hope she can read.
- Alex2, on 11/13/2007, -5/+70Real nerds don't need a 'handbook'. Handbook users are nerd 'posers.
oh.. hang on, this is about people dealing with nerds.. never mind. - akkibaba, on 11/13/2007, -1/+64Ok, fellow nerds. They've now got us figured out completely. I propose that we hold a Nerd Symposium every few years in order to develop new characteristics to keep them off balance.
- zeptobyte, on 11/14/2007, -0/+57I definitely found this way more accurate than I expected to when I clicked it..
- LastSight, on 11/13/2007, -2/+58"Your nerd has an amazing appetite for information."
So do I, but that's because of wikipedia.
DAMN YOU WIKIPEDIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - MtheoryX, on 11/13/2007, -0/+51Definitely dugg for explanation of "The next high."

- Sozin, on 11/14/2007, -2/+50The section on The Cave is by far my favorite...it hits so close to home.
- Scaryclouds, on 11/13/2007, -1/+43That's the nerd sense of humor kicking in HAHAHA
- Projektorboy, on 11/13/2007, -0/+35I think we'll be able to create complex emulation layers of extroverted behavior in order to make us less visible to the common person. Their heuristics will fail!
- Lane, on 11/13/2007, -1/+36I feel like im reading cosmo.
- Miruivel, on 11/14/2007, -0/+32this is ridiculous, i can't believe how someone could explain that so clearly
- n0t0kayipr0mis3, on 11/13/2007, -0/+28We all hope she can read, illiteracy is no laughing matter... lol

} - silverchrysalis, on 11/13/2007, -1/+26i don't want to tweak my nerd any. he's as perfect today as he was 10 yrs ago :)
but the article did have some good understanding points - andru, on 11/13/2007, -1/+25This is awesome
- zmjone2992, on 11/13/2007, -0/+22lol @ backup headphones
- asforme, on 11/12/2007, -0/+21Though I occasionally update my hackintosh partition so that I can make sure and understand how the mac works. It's relevant information, but once it's figured out it's back to the project of completely understanding Linux. That project is going to take a while.
- zoxx, on 11/13/2007, -2/+22"The Cave"-- so, so true.
- MaTT2011, on 11/13/2007, -1/+20That part about "Humor is a game" thing.....spot on!
Hell, i'll take it to the next level and propose that for Nerds like meself that EVERYTHING is a game and its my job as the player to win, oh yah. - Tyrghast, on 11/13/2007, -14/+32it's hilarious but if he thinks a nerd uses a mac then he's sadly mistaken... i would never foul the air of The Cave with a mac.

- thushan, on 11/13/2007, -1/+18The man knows what he speaks, his book is also a great read:
http://www.managinghumans.com/ - inactive, on 11/13/2007, -1/+17Sometimes Cosmo shows boobies. It's worth the search through them. Usually, they are high class boobies. I wish my wife read Cosmo.

} - RSterkenburg, on 11/13/2007, -2/+17I agree. Mostly accurate, and worth the time I spent on it.
-Nerd - McLumpy, on 11/12/2007, -0/+15Dude, what are you trying to do, perform meme necromancy?
- chugger1992, on 11/13/2007, -1/+16you are in denial.
- deose, on 11/13/2007, -1/+15I found it to be about 90% accurate actually.
- gkwillie, on 11/13/2007, -1/+15I feel like I'm on an episode of "Wild Kingdom".
- therightclique, on 11/13/2007, -0/+13um. nerds are some of the funniest people i know. and many of them can make huge groups of normal people laugh much of the time. nerds break everything down. they figure out how things work. like the construction of a joke. yes, you have to know your audience, but that doesn't mean you have to be like them. nerds understand the general population very well. they just aren't willing to BE the general population.
- GeeForce, on 11/13/2007, -1/+14I was absolutely blown away by this article. For people who read it and say TL;DR, it really is worth it. I was copying/pasting lines to my friend every 20 seconds, talking about how true it is.
This guy's other posts are amazing as well - the entry after this one is an even LONGER delve into the frightening world of - gasp - CHOOSING A NEW PEN - wilf_brim, on 11/14/2007, -0/+12Wow. *****. Where was this guy when I was married. The ex just didn't get this stuff.
- zmjone2992, on 11/13/2007, -0/+12you "geeb" together. Maybe you should have spell "chick" your own post... :)
- shadowblade989, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12I call Rule 37.
- Delusionist, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12Wow, I didn't think I was a nerd, but that's me in a nutshell. Especially the part where he explained his exercising. I too have huge moderation issues.
- CapeKid, on 11/13/2007, -1/+12I am sitting in the cave now, just on the desktop there is
A stapler
A stack of CD-Rs
Box of tootsie-roll pops
3 pairs of headphones (1 for the computer, 1 for my mp3 player (which is also on the desktop), and 1 as a backup just in case)
An electric razor
A clock
A phone
Several wires/adapters
Printer
Box of tissues
Stack of papers (with logic diagrams and truth tables on them)
All of this I can reach without getting up, so that I can multi-task and waste efficiency like it said in the article. - mdesjardins, on 11/12/2007, -1/+12dugg down for inconsistent use of braces... end-of-line or separate line, pick one! :)
- therightclique, on 11/13/2007, -9/+19i haven't met a true nerd in my life that uses a mac. i'm sure a few exist, but very very few. there are people that use macs that think they are nerds, but that's just one of those stupid poseur things we all have to live with.
- Lapper, on 11/13/2007, -2/+12This is one of the truest texts I've read that I haven't written. :P
- CaptainSponge, on 11/13/2007, -1/+11As a female with a current, ongoing Nerd project, this was quite helpful.
The only way I could get decent conversation out of him, was to eventually become a nerd myself and now we geeb together.
He doesn't like it when I spell chick his posts though? - ChromaVita, on 11/13/2007, -1/+11dugg for the contradictory "lol"
- hermslice, on 11/13/2007, -0/+9Its like he KNOWS ME.
- therightclique, on 11/13/2007, -0/+9literally? sweet. i'm glad you didn't do it virtually, figuratively or metaphorically.
