Level Up! - NewChar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3*Is surprised no idiot has said "Welcome to the social" yet*
- grayman222, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Interesting article but because it was about digging it encouraged me to digg it.
What i see a lot of is gaming(used in the sense of the article) contests. I've seen multiple cases on webforums or through msn/text of hey vote for my friend who is in a contest to be... whatever. I'll do it if the person is legit in the contest because i figure it ends up happening with everyone in the contest having gamed votes. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I, for one, welcome our new Idiocratic overlords
- gamechic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yea me too. I read it nonetheless and it's certainly thought out, but really, just pointless. Diggers will continue to digg for whatever reason they want. It doesn't bother me if people "game". In my little way, a lame submit just won't get my digg.

- wheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1When I read the title I thought it was going to be about how gamers balance being competitive in their games and their social lives.
- Jakerius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Welcome to the social.
It becomes gaming when it starts to break the TOS. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+6Uff the page is down.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I think the main problem is people digging articles that they either:
A. did not read
B. do not find interesting
Gaming, IMO, in effect when, through a user's actions, people digg his article under one of the 2 circumstances listed above. Linking the *digg link* (as opposed to the article link) to a *significant* number of *digg users* (as opposed to a random sampling of friends) leads to gaming.
If you find an article interesting, you should link to the article, not the digg link.
A fix to all this would be to use some fairly complicated statistical analysis of diggs to cluster users based on digging patterns, find the people who are obviously linking the digg page instead of the article, and lowering the values of their votes for articles submitted by people in the same cluster. Not sure, has this been done already? - Shak, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://duggmirror.com
- Four20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1uff = site is running on wordpress, meaning it only lasted 25 seconds on the frontpage
- Four20, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1naa uhhh!
- Buffman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Competitiveness is human nature, survival of the fittest, but there is a point that it become unacceptable . Perhaps digg should produce an etiquette guide.
- Brainwave, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would comment or something but I'm too busy gaming!!!
- DJSdotcom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They're obviously talking about The Social, which is Microsoft's new college gay orgy terminology.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Nothing more gratifying that earning eRespect from my ePeers.
Sad. - DaNKBuDZ, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1People that "cheat" to get their stories to front page are ***** smokes. If people want a story on the front page, they will digg it. Otherwise, the front page will be filled with a bunch of horse ***** that no one wants to read.
- pipdip, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3Not sure if the grammar is correct. "The Line Between Social and Gaming" doesn't sound quite right.

ie: the 9/11 tragedy was an inside job. check this site for the truth! www.truthfockers.com
never seen this site. check it out. thanks for that! - fufubag, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Digg is simply a place for me to let off steam by digging down clowns, and waste time at work. If you use it for actual news, you are a supreme idiot. That's why i often only read the comments, if I wanted to read some moron's blog.... well I don't want to (although I actually skimmed this one - not bad...).
- DaNKBuDZ, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Digging people down is a game all on its own!
- Aloyarc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Right here;
