Please explain how this is lame. If you can provide a valid reason, I'll run around Digg rating all the US only articles and special offers (e.g. "Seagate 250GB hard drive! Only $250 with rebate!!1") as lame too. The moral of the story? Live with it. There are other countries in the world. Either that, or download the torrent. I'm still watching the torrents myself, because they're ever so better quality than the official ones from the site.
Still, I find the show hilarious (Jen is a great character), and made it a series link on my Sky+ box. Can't wait to see more. - Life2Short, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wish more British programming was available via iTunes. I wouldn't mind paying $2 to see the show. I sent Channel 4 an email to that effect. I'm sure they'll get right on it.
- saysaknow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is where proxies come in handy. ; )
- CCmachined, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1BTW, my friend Josh uploaded it into youtube. the whole thing. :D just look on google video search and you'll find it.
- DoubtfulSalmon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I cannot play it with win32 (xp,sp2), mega codec pack and media player classic. I'll be buggered if I'm going to install wmp just to find out if it works that way.
- CCmachined, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1BTW, my friend Josh uploaded it into youtube. the whole thing. :D just look on google video search and you'll find it.
errm, why is this a WMV stream? won't work with Firefox on my Ubuntu Linux machine at all! *****! - ifonly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.hidemyass.com/free_proxy_lists.php - get a UK proxy then.
- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1TheRappingShoe: So use Media Player Classic :) I posted a link to the non DRM'd torrent.
- ghostaliaz, on 12/26/2007, -0/+1This show is the stuff, luv it but wish us here in the us could see it. Shoot I would even pay for it ontop of paying for my sat tv & netflix & comcast Broadband because I it is funny as heck. The UK Rules(hehe).
- jamesperkins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1well its a show about IT Techs / System Admins, basically only geeks will enjoy it :P thats why i think they put it for download / streaming, so geeks dont have to get a tv and not leave their pc's :P
PJ - sparty1969, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Why is it that the UK (aka BBC) has all the best shows.
The IT Crowd
The Office (UK)
Extras
Why can't the US come up with something NEW (we don't need another "Crime" show). - InvisionUK, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"british comedy is as pointless to watch as a pauly shore movie."
Okay. The fact that Monty Python, Fawlty Towers, Blackadder, Mr. Bean, The Office, Only Fools and Horses, Open All Hours, not to mention loads more, all sold for millions and are widely regarded as some of the best in the business, has absolutely no merit, hm? - mattporter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pretty funny show, although not quite what it's cracked up to be.
- Jams, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just a guess, but perhaps it has something to do with Channel4's bandwidth! I live in the UK and even I've been struggling to download the episodes cos the servers are so hammered.
I wonder what it must cost them in bandwidth?
If you want a good, upcoming comedy have a look at The mighty boosh. www.mightyboosh.com (Not IT related, but still very funny) - tangerine, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thanks Elton.. link is still working!
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh and just use a proxy server... listing here
http://www.proxy4free.com/page1.html - OsakaWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Why, why do they not let people outside of a country download or BUY TV shows. Apple does it, Channel 14 does it. It just doesn't make sense--does anyone have an explanation??
- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0thanks elton!!
- tracicollins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What about those of us who pay to watch BBC America? I can understand that British networks would want to get paid for their shows but I do pay to watch British shows. This is maddening with The IT Crowd but even more intensely frustrating with the video downloads made by the BBC itself exclusively for netizens in the UK. Hey! Lots of us across the pond pay to support your programming! and we would like to be able to download shows too. Give us a legal way to purchase your content if you don't want us ignoring your property rights.
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0link to the codecs:
http://www1.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/essential-20050412.tar.bz2 - karamba_kid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0DRM=lame. The actors in the show have EFF stickers around their office too. What gives?
- .mark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This show is great! No, it isn't centered on "IT humor", but is still very, very enjoyable.
- citizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Looks like Filecloud has this one up as well if you don't want to torrent it:
http://www.filecloud.com/files/file.php?file_id=2877 - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0funny as hell !!!
- citizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My guess is they are only hosting what was put up on the Channel 4 site.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0damn drm.
I can't digg it, since I can't watch it in linux. - jpatch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firecloud is also hosting Widescreen AVIs... any chance of finding those anywhere else?
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0woohoo!
the DRM-Free torrent is working... plenty of seeds. join, share, plzkthx!
...and it worked on SuSe linux in Kaffeine with the Mplayer Codecs installed. - atariby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Screencaps from episode 3 here:
http://atariboy.wordpress.com/2006/02/07/the-it-crowd-episode-3-screen-caps/ - PacoDG, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0http://updc.co.uk/files/The.IT.Crowd.ep3.wmv.torrent
- manfesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0A valid reason to complain about the DRM and want to strip it, regardless of which country you hail from - If you're using anything besides Windows, you're SOL. Linux and Mac users are out of the loop on this one.
- DJB31st, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0anyone else in the UK and unable to download the show from the official site?
- u3b3rg33k, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0dont bother with torrenting the stupid file. find a proxy in the UK
- DynaGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"We're sorry, but users outside the UK cannot access The IT Crowd."
what is that? - FrostyFire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Because North Americans don't understand British humour.
- JohnTheLutheran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0@simplogic
Well, I'll give it a try once I'm back home, but the problem was that non-WMP users were getting 404 errors - not just getting a "no can do" message when attempting to play the downloaded file. - antdude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Stupid episode to me. It is a dating theme. The first two were better.
- Simplogic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Firefox users all you need to do to download is follow this link: http://edge.channel4.com/theitcrowd/episode_3.wmv > close media player or whatever program launches > in firefox select tools > page info > media > and select save as.
- mejason69, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what kind of crap is not letting anyone outside view they episodes. One would think they wanted everyone to see it. What they hiding national secrets or they don't want us to know how bad the show sucks???
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0btw, show rocks! and the chick is HOT!
- FrostyFire, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0NOICE thanks for posting direct links to the show :) .
I've also become addicted! - kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Anyone have episode 2?
Thanks! - willgonz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh well, I guess I'll stop telling everyone about the show. Then when it comes to the US like "The Office" no one will be into it because they will be watching Lost or something else. I skip the commercials, so they aren't getting anything from me.
- tangledweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The episodes are getting funnier.
Nerd stuff was mostly just backdrop in this episode, but the content is a lot funnier than ep1. - sdbryan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1They managed to make it worse than the second episode? I only bothered to watch because of the enthusiastic recommendations. What a disappointment. It takes the worse in American sitcoms and slaps on English accents. If you want to see a smart funny show the last four FOX episodes of Arrested Development are going to be on opposite the long and boring opening day ceremonies of the Olympics on Friday. Shortly after that they will be available as torrents and eventually as DVDs.
- nigg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This show barely raised a smile from me. I can't understand why you all find it so amusing.
It's a shame 'cause I was expecting something a lot better given the talent in it and other very good things they've been in (e.g. Morris in Brass Eye, Ayoade in Garth Marengi's Darkplace)
I won't be downloading this episode. -
