Web 3.0
grid computing
open source
Yep, got 'em all in there. - binarysemaphore, on 10/18/2008, -1/+17I will start thinking about web 4.0 ..web 3.0 is so 2008.
- mattearle, on 10/18/2008, -2/+16People who work at Yahoo are still enthusiastic about stuff?
- socialexpert, on 10/18/2008, -8/+21I think Yahoo has great web developers and when we talk about WEB 3.0, it will bring new revolution on internet.
- TheCoreh, on 10/18/2008, -1/+13what about "the cloud"?
- inactive, on 10/18/2008, -2/+12I don't think we fully got web 2.0 yet
- mehan, on 10/18/2008, -1/+9Web 3.0? really? Can we please not go down this path and call it something else?
- MrViklund, on 10/18/2008, -1/+6We are in Web 3.0 already?
- pooljoe, on 10/18/2008, -0/+4If i had their salaries i'd be enthusiastic too.
- neFariou5, on 10/18/2008, -0/+4I'm really liking what I'm hearing from Yahoo recently. Ever since Yahoo Pipes, Yahoo is starting to be intriguing to me. Total customization of the web for novices using drag and drop ajax.
I'm very interested to see the Yahoo Query language, and if they start blending this with flickr and delicious, things will be very, very interesting.
It goes in the opposite direction of what Microsoft would have done with the company. - Stoyanov, on 10/18/2008, -0/+4Of course Web 3.0 according to Yahoo involves Yahoo technologies only.
- AndrewDB, on 10/18/2008, -1/+5Why should we listen to a failing company about what they think web 3.0 is about when we're not even past web 2.0?!
- noen, on 10/18/2008, -0/+3Anti-Google, when you search for something it runs away from you and hides.
- inactive, on 10/18/2008, -1/+4Why can't we jump to Web 7? 3 4 5 and 6 are boring versions. Web Seven is damn hot. Isn't it?
- LuckyASN, on 10/18/2008, -1/+4Paging Dr. Plant....
- valuka, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2Looks like that every year we will get into new web stage. But I think that 2.0 hasn't been exploited and used enough so this has to be done in order to move to another 3.0 stage.
- anaesthetica, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2How about Web 2009? Or Web ME? Or Web 3.11 for Workgroups?
- Macskeeball, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2Just skip straight to Web 1337.
- pedepy, on 10/18/2008, -1/+3not before we have Nasdaq Crash 2.0
- vat0r, on 10/18/2008, -1/+3More like Web RC 1.01.
- pingveno, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2Do we need to use a major version number here? How about Web 2.1?
- dengzhi, on 10/18/2008, -1/+2agreed. ballmer trickled yahoo last week, "our merger still makes good business sense", stock goes up 10%, then microsoft issues an official statement "we have no plans to buy yahoo"
- Dylson, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1I'll only believe stuff like this if I hear it from Google.
- doiveo, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Yes, http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/ ...
- dengzhi, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1google is not trying to innovate? google chrome? fastest web browser ever?
wtf do u not read the news? - topgigmedia, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1I just returned from the future (July 2009). Sad to report that table-based layouts are a key cornerstone to Web 5.0. Something about their "retro-ness" and how "nesting" is really cool. I am sorry to report that virtual disco if you will, is back people.
- doiveo, on 10/18/2008, -1/+2Actually, in terms of content, Yahoo is still #1. Google isn't a destination for most.
http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/ ... - Mateo2, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Failing? They are the #1 most visited website IN THE WORLD for crying out loud.
- vat0r, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Huh?
- AndrewDB, on 10/18/2008, -1/+2They're trying to sell themselves, and second, the most visited website in the world is google.
- TheNyquilKid, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1w3b?
- doiveo, on 10/18/2008, -1/+2Way too many anti Yahoo posts here. I use their developer tools constantly and find them great. I'm also impressed by the generosity of the company give all the technology way and even host it for other sites. What are you negative diggers working on to improve the web?
- SPRFRKR, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1AOL?
Google:"AOL Time Warner FAIL" - ilid, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Mate...
I was there. And how lucky am I? I got to hear those words not once, not twice, but over, and over, and over...[ad nauseum] and I was so proud of myself using them only what - 17? times in the post? ;) - kishosingh, on 10/18/2008, -2/+3"Yahoo Updates are like web 2.0 and Web 3.0" http://seoonlinemarketing.blogspot.com/2008/08/yah ... already shown the future of web 3.0. All the tools which Yahoo has introduced is in the favor of web 3.0.
- TheInfamousOne, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1yeah i read the first paragraph of that and had to gouge out my eyes.
- jessica445, on 10/20/2008, -0/+1Are we done with Web 2.0? What is Web 3.0?
- ilid, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1I like your thinking. Billy missed out, but I think Yahoo are starting to get it. I just hope it's not too late for them, this is brilliant news
- Wrangler76, on 10/18/2008, -2/+3Wow, do you work for Google or something? Yahoo is one of the few web companies actually trying to innovate recently. Google is now known for its massive wasteful spending and employees who do mostly nothing because they're on top.
- ilid, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Actually, one of the Yahoo guys (at the conference) called it Web 1.3...
But I've got to admit, the whole W1, W2 etc stuff drives me nuts - as far as I'm concerned, it's still the Web - as TBL set out
"The dream behind the Web is of a common information space in which we communicate by sharing information. Its universality is essential: the fact that a hypertext link can point to anything, be it personal, local or global, be it draft or highly polished."
Sorry, just kind of tired of hearing all the versions... - trunks6008, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1wasn't web 3.0 only used by private institutions. it's been nearly 4-5 years since it was started and now it's going mainstream.
i've been using yahoo! ever since it was up and running. yahoo! has been the pioneers in web design software architecture. yahoo! brought companies and integrated them into their website. if i'm looking for information, news, international news, stocks, movies, schedules, charts, picture, search, weather, reference, health, mobile, yellow pages, widgets, calendar, chat, games, greeting, etc. i'd search through yahoo.com first before going else where. - doiveo, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1That is precisely when a company needs to lead the next iteration of its industry.
- strictnein, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1And if they still had jobs that will last more than another month they'd be enthusiastic as well.
Or, if they didn't live in areas where the cost of living was through the roof, those salaries might mean something. - alainedouard, on 10/18/2008, -0/+1Please, don't call the next web "Web 3.0".
That's horrible. - Slade605, on 10/18/2008, -2/+2sc0rpi0n is on to something, and I'm pretty sure Web 7 ate web 9.
- digliberty, on 10/18/2008, -0/+0if you can't beat them, sue and regulate them!
- warezlounge, on 10/20/2008, -0/+0Haha..Chrome the fastest browser???
It's because of Google gears..but did u ever observe if it is standards compliant?????
It can't even style an xml - TheNyquilKid, on 10/19/2008, -0/+0I think you are referring to Internet 2.
- pooljoe, on 10/18/2008, -0/+0But those salaries give em the means to go where the $$$$$ worth more
- JasonCox, on 10/18/2008, -2/+2Yahoo? Seriously?
