- cdevroe, on 10/10/2008, -3/+62Hi, I work at Viddler (which is the player this talk is playing in). Can you let me know what your browser is? Your computer that you're using? Etc? I'd love to have a chance to fix this problem for you.
- gamepr0, on 10/10/2008, -0/+31"Fx" is the abbreviaion mozilla prefers to use, though everyone ignores it and uses "ff"
- crampy20, on 10/10/2008, -3/+31In the Hot in Upcoming list the way it reads due to the formatting is "Digg: The Future of News" - Love it
- dn11, on 10/10/2008, -0/+25Kevin was surprisingly critical of his baby for someone that just got $30 million in funding... honesty is good policy though

- inactive, on 10/10/2008, -2/+19they could easily enhance the user experience by getting go-carts
- BoboTheHobo, on 10/10/2008, -0/+16I assume he means FirefoX
- benologist, on 10/10/2008, -4/+19If digg's giving you all the "news" you need and then some..... you're probably more of a tabloid junkie.
As it stands now you can get more, better and more current news in 1 minute at cnn/bbc/reuters/etc than you will in a week on digg. - notman, on 10/10/2008, -1/+16Umm, youtube uses flash :/
- cdevroe, on 10/10/2008, -1/+16Sorry, I see you said Chrome. FX?
- alexkball, on 10/10/2008, -1/+15If the flash is crashing in Firefox and Chrome, and everyone else here seems to be able to watch the video, there is something wrong on your end.
- n1cza, on 10/10/2008, -0/+13Hey...
Windows XP SP2.
Google Chrome 0.2.149.30
Firefox 3.0.1
Internet Explorer 7.0.5730.13 *gasp*
All crash on loading the page; LCD seems like Flash.
If you want more details give me a shout somewhere a little less public. - inactive, on 10/10/2008, -0/+12Pardon me, but you seem to have a piece of poo on your nose.

- Forbizzle, on 10/10/2008, -2/+11What would be nice, is if the communities established could be exposed and made a little more formal. See the Steam Communities model, but add in a suite of integration APIs so that other community sites can build upon it. There's a lot of value in procedural aggregation, but the real strength of digg is the user submitted and managed content. Whether it's a PHPBB forum for lego enthusiasts, or an IRC channel for people who scrim counter-strike, it would be nice if digg could capitalize on the userbase of other systems through the creation of something like a blogroll/widget/botscript. Which would allow the users of that site to not just have recommendations given to them by an algorithm, but physically add (and in the case of administrators) remove that content.
Also user managed groups would allow more transparency to the traditional digger, as a story could have a subscript listing
"dugg by: obamanation, fedorah enthusiasts" and "buried by: mccain08, hatssuck". With the group names being links to their digg page. Which would be better than hiding that information behind the firewall as "group223243"
If user/externally managed groups wouldn't fit with the current architecture of the internal recommendation communities, it could be designed in parallel. Because I'm pretty sure that both internal trend generated groups, and the physical groups could feed off each other. For example, my behaviour on digg may put me in group2323, and through similar trends, the site could recommend to me "Revision3 fangroup" that is moderated by users. Exposing diggers not just to single sites, but communities of like minded individuals. - Mobscene, on 10/10/2008, -6/+15Wish I could have been there this year. It was so awesome at FOWA last year. Have fun to those attending Diggnation tonight. It should be another entertaining night :)
- Pandatot, on 10/10/2008, -2/+11Of them All.
- F9Phoenix, on 10/10/2008, -0/+8Agreed.
It's sad that the fanatics here actually believe Digg is a good idea for their only news source. - Azazel, on 10/10/2008, -3/+11Some great ideas and honest admissions. Hope to see Digg go from strength to strength in the future.
- twoyups, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7n1cza's original comment is at -5 diggs? Meet the elitist forum jockeys: the terrorists of the information age
- n1cza, on 10/10/2008, -14/+21The flash crashes both my Chrome & FX.
Is there a YouTube link? - stealthc, on 10/10/2008, -0/+7The future of news will look pretty much like the present. It's just that the Internet removes the editing middleman who chooses the narrow view of the world the people will get. On the Internet they choose it themselves!
- dukeeeey, on 10/10/2008, -1/+7There is no news on digg, it's all adverts for corporate sponsors (apple) and trivial ***** submitted by the power users (MrBabyMan)
- rmiller07, on 10/10/2008, -3/+9OBAMA
- Sheeplike, on 10/10/2008, -1/+7Video doesn't seem to be available anymore.
- sonar1, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5The Internets - your doing it wrong
- TheAuditor, on 10/10/2008, -0/+5Zeitgeist literally means 'spirit of the times' so it was relevant to his topic - how the 'people' of digg feel dictates the content that appears.
- zspade, on 10/11/2008, -0/+5Maybe one of the new features added to Digg should be a reply button... oh wait.
- oxymoron69, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4^ You go you mavrick!
....
Maybe you could be a better public speaker if you actually knew who you were talking about.
Retard. - khaose, on 10/11/2008, -0/+4With flames on the side.
- SiXiam, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5The Future of News = Digg users posting too many Huffington Post articles
- wopas69, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4digg for better or worse its fun when there is time to kill
go digg - inajeep, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4One of us. ;-)
I like the idea of seeing who buried as well as dugg an article. Although the reasoning system would need to be added to.
Appointing and maintaining the admin for the groups would require additional time to maintain. It would also be the only way to keep the groups honest. An unpaid gig most likely and it would suck up a lot of time. I do hope that your idea is being considered. - recruz, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4you guys rock
- oxymoron69, on 10/10/2008, -1/+5When did he schedule the appointment to have mrbabyman & and the other paid diggers surgically removed from his anus?
Once that's done, then we can talk about the future. - marksands07, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4ahhh what happened viddler??
- Moose67, on 10/10/2008, -0/+4if all men could talk like kevin rose, i'd be such a whore.
- robbob, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3He's just posting on digg. Its the lowest form of "public speaking"

- Angus5, on 10/10/2008, -0/+3His third point is true. If I see a good news article I don't even bother submitting it because either
A) Someone already has
or
B) It won't get noticed - inditech, on 10/11/2008, -0/+2wtf, it appears I have - damn you ajax, damn you
