- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+176I would say that too, if I had never used Digg before.
- blaze03, on 11/01/2007, -4/+173If there was an internet award for best pie charts, he would very likely win
- frant1c, on 10/12/2007, -4/+152It's nice to see Firefox at 67%.
- biochem, on 11/01/2007, -5/+99The "PC guy" would be proud of those pie charts.
- victorycig, on 10/12/2007, -1/+73Sort of basic demographics, but interesting anyway. I'd love to get stats on digg users' socioeconomic background, education, income, race, gender. How narrow (or broad) is digg's community?
- winnch, on 10/12/2007, -5/+73Careful what you right.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+71@Itistoday
Plus I wonder how many Opera users are hidden under the mask of IE (17%) because of the feature.
Also.. India, surprising. - itistoday, on 10/12/2007, -4/+61I like the fact that they have OS stats, however watch out, it's easy to miss that OS X is split into two categories (Intel and PPC), summed up OS X users total 16.2% of digg users, I'm kinda surprised.
- ersatzphi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+57Well I can tell you that the creator of this article isn't fluent in english.
"With more than 100,000th Diggers."
(Prepares for burial) - xBDVx, on 10/12/2007, -3/+56Yeah, I'm surprised that there's so little Mac OSX given the power of the Apple on Digg.
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -8/+59those are some really nice pie charts
- Sedako, on 10/12/2007, -6/+55I'm wondering why there is so much windows hate on digg seeing that XP makes up 71% of the total OS use.
- grapeape25, on 10/12/2007, -0/+48I would have thought there would be more Linux users considering how easily an article about Linux makes the front page.
- wush, on 10/12/2007, -1/+48It's funny to know that a lot of the seemingly pro-apple/linux and anti-ms/sony users are actually sitting at their vaios running xp. Walk the walk!
- Al3x, on 10/12/2007, -10/+57That's really suprising especially considering M$'s market share. I'd say us diggers have a pretty intelligent user base.
- johnthedebs, on 10/12/2007, -3/+48We were all thinking it. Thanks for being "that guy."
- a0me, on 10/12/2007, -3/+44@ZomgMana
OH NOES!!!11
Digg is outsourcing its users to India! - MonkeyMCSE, on 10/12/2007, -2/+39A majority of users view from work I would guess, so that would probably bring the numbers. At the office using XP/linux, so I switch back and forth, at home it's linux and bsd.
Just my opinion of course, your use may vary. - WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -16/+53Mmmmm Piiiiie!
- JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -14/+48Yay Canada!
- coxon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+39Canada has the most digg users outside of the United States. Diggnation in Toronto or Vancouver anyone?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+40those are some nice looking graphs
- nickerbocker, on 10/12/2007, -6/+37USA Today would be jealous of those pie charts.
- musicmantrs, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31Rough estimate:
Males: 99990
Females: 10
Sample Space: 100000 - cazoo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31where the heck are the nerds from san francisco?
- Tanpreet, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28@ tidu
dont you mean excel? - blaze03, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Shut it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+28"Yeah, I'm surprised that there's so little Mac OSX given the power of the Apple on Digg."
Goes to show that the number of users dosent equal to the amount of passion - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18I think they're looking in the user agent string and assume we're talking the same language as the browser locale.
- iSamurai, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Here's a more accurate pie chart :
http://preview.tinyurl.com/ybnzk7 - TenebrousX, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17how do they figure out what language we speak?
- DharmaTurtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I love how although he totally highjacked the first comment, you all pretended he was the parent and ignored the subject of the first comment :)
well...
Pie charts 2.0! - rynoon, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19***** AJRiddle
- Canada - canti32, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13I was really surprised that the USA had 61% while the nearest country had only 8.5. I was also surprised that only 6% of diggers use linux.
- Reziarfg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAAAAND!!
- chix0r, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11wow, yet another article on digg about digg being dugg over 1000 times.
- robusteza, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10where're the gender demographics? i always feel like i'm the only one in possession of ovaries around here.
- fallenone05, on 10/12/2007, -9/+18I don't know aboot that...
- kuribo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12I like my iBook as much as the next guy, but I wouldn't say that the browser is comparable to God. Although, I DO believe that God features tabs and ad-blocking capabilities.
Maybe if OS X keeps gaining market share, we can get recognized as a religion! - blaze03, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Are you really that dumb? These demographics are from Digg only and do not represent the average user worldwide.
- Malakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8So, per capita, Canada has the most people on Digg of any Country (of the 8 listed), and per capita Vancouver BC Canada has the most users on Digg of any of the top 10 cities. Living somewhat near Vancouver, this does not surprise me as everyone I know reads Digg.
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10These are ML's visitor stats -- not necessarily digg's, even though they are counting only visitors referred from digg.com, but still, not accurate.
- chrono13, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Opera hasn't reported itself as IE for a long while.
Opera 7 was the last version to report itself as IE.
Opera 8 and 9 both report themselves as Opera.
http://www.useragentstring.com/pages/Opera/ - turpenine, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9the stats from my website when it was dugg 3 times in a month, if you want to see everything that happened to it in relation to google ranking etc after.
http://wiifantastic.com/awstats/awstats.pl?month=09&year=2006&output=main&config=wiifantastic.com&framename=index - andyrobo60, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The only majority i am in is web browser.
- ramaz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9Are a lot of our XP users digging from work, where they *have* to use Windows? Maybe lots of these have Linux/OS X, etc. at their home offices, but do lots of their digging from their "day jobs" - ?
- Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Too bad you can't have your gender in your user agent string. ;-)
It would be nice to somehow settle the gender distribution once and for all. - sldSquirrel, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11It's surprising that there's way more PPC Macs than Intel Macs... So many, including myself, switched over when they went Intel.
It's also kinda surprising that there's more users from London than from Seattle. - ramaz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Persons with ovaries welcome! :)
- bob_the_alien, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7""If people hate XP so much, then they should go get a Mac or convert to Linux/Unix or whatever. Why stay?""
Games. it's why I stay, and from all the gaming stories that get promoted on digg, I'd have to say, it's most everyone else reason as well. -
