- devondragon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Sweet. Save a lot of spam headache:)
- jtjdt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I prefer www.mytrashmail.com
- primehifi, on 10/12/2007, -23/+7I prefer gmail.
- FlyingLlama, on 10/12/2007, -30/+1go screw a rat
- burke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4http://willhackforfood.biz
Set your own expiry, password protection, address can never be recreated, so people can't send a password reset and change your password on you. - UCFMark, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2This is hardly a new concept- I've been using SpamHole (www.spamhole.com) for years and haven't been disappointed.
- TheReport, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8does anyone still use dodgeit.com, I know when I dont want to give out my real email addy I use this site to ensure I dont get further spam from them that I could care less about.
- iSamurai, on 05/12/2008, -0/+1THANK YOU SO MUCH! There's so many times when I couldn't remember the name of the site, googled and still got nothing, so had to resort to making yet another gmail acct that I will only use once.
- toran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5http://mailinator.com - the original temporary mail service.
- enharmonix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2After signing up with all those sites you were too embarrassed to give your email address to before, don't forget to check out extortion.com to arrange your blackmail payments. ;) Seriously, tho, this is really cool. A lot of sites require registration for the stupidest things (like nytimes or online radio), and this is a great way around that. Nice find.
- TH3W1R3D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3not extortion.com its http://www.extortr.com/
- Zinite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31www.Dodgeit.com is a similar site, but allows you to choose the name of your disposable email address.
- OverloadUT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12trashmail.net is another one. It even has a firefox extension that allows you to right click on an input field and do "paste disposable email" which creates a trashmail.net temp email for you. That way you don't even have to go to the website!
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2there's another site out there that lets you select how long you wanted the email address to last. seems like you had your choice of minutes, days & months.
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2AWESOME, most useful site I have seen in a while.
- deadmessenger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20mailinator is better - it works forever, and accepts mail for any arbitrary address at one of their domains.
- JavertHolmes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Wouldn't sites just start purging users who registered with a "10minutemail.com" email from their database once the site's purpose becomes well known? As it is now, some sites won't even let you register with email addresses from sites like hotmail, gmail, etc.
- Abjure, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Dodgeit.com works just as well.
- MidnightWatcher, on 10/12/2007, -11/+3A terrorist's wet dream.
"This message will self destruct in ..."- blonkm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Duh. Apparently you haven't heard how terrorists _really_ communicate. They have one mail box and just store draft messages. All members read the box. Advantage: no email is ever actually sent, so noone comes in between to scan the mail for 'bomb' and such. All they need to share is a password. Or.. maybe by now they have found an even better way...
- coresnake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2this mail service resembles MidnightWatcher's mom in the aspect that its free for 10 minutes then you can dispose of it when you're done ***** with it
- LeafsScore, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Very nice. Kind of like dodgeit and mailinator.
Anyone have a script which I could setup a similar service on my own host? - sdub, on 10/12/2007, -4/+11Buried b/c mailinator.com is easier, more useful, and a lot older.
- EmileVictor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The problem I have with Mailinator is that sometimes the email just doesn't appear in your inbox when you check it. :(
- sdub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Plus, mailinator deserves an extra bump for the spam map:
http://mailinator.com/mailinator/map.html - sdub, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If the mail doesn't show up, it's probably b/c the website in question is wise to what you're doing... that's the only mailinator downside.
- cutechimp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Check out the spam source in Turkey on the map.
- gh02t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or in Antartica
- SkateorDie, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2dodgeit.com
- argh44z, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1dodgeit, mailinator = better.. any arbitrary inbox name, and no 10 minute rule
- dmorel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Pretty sweet. I'm a big fan of bug me not for most sites that require a reg, but there are some instances (forums maybe) where one might want to register their own user name. Just don't forget your password, cause that password reset email...
- Niro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nice concept....
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1temporaryinbox.com is pretty good. it deletes all mail after 6 hours or something like that but even better is there is a firefox extention to automatically insert a random email address on forms. theres no registration so you can use anything you want @temporaryinbox.com
- NiGHTSChao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://spambox.us/
just another alternative - Aliarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I just use gmail..
Send myself an invite, create new account, job done. When its filled with spam, make another.. - rcran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Am I the only one who though (before reading the description) that this was an email address that you can set up in 10 min?
- dmorel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I was going to be snarky and simply answer "yes, you're the only one" but I have to admit it does scan like that...
- skywake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2yes... you are the only one...
- tinhed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http//2prong.com. very simple to use. disposable really
- r3yn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0thanks for sharing. wow. i did not know that so many alternatives existed.
- RedXlll, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0BRILLIANT!
- stepanstas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i like the way mytrashmail.com works
But if its a site that i plan on getting emails from, but not sure if they will distribute, i filter my gmail and know if they spam me. - mogabog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like GishPuppy best. You can delete the accounts when you want, has a Firefox plugin and is generally just great. If you forget the email address you made for the site gish puppy will tell you.
http://www.gishpuppy.com
I dig it.
-A- jazbek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This one looks really awesome.. you can make up aliases to your personal email addresses, and once you start getting spam at that alias, you can delete it. Right now my mailserver admin set up my personal account set up so that if I put myname-anything@domain.com, it will forward to my real account which is myname@domain.com. Basically I use this to give a different email address to every site I sign up at, so when I get spam, I know who's fault it is (for example, I signed up at Digg with myname-digg@domain.com.. so if I start getting spam at that address, I know it's Digg's fault). This doesn't help me in reducing the amount of spam I get, though. There are 3 email addresses that I consistently get spam from, and I always wished I could just shut them off. This GishPuppy thing makes it so you can, I'm definitely going to try it out.
BTW: if anyone is interested - I get about 99% of my spam from 3 addresses: one that I used to sign up with a public yahoo group, one from another mailing list that has the archives posted on the web, with the email address cheaply obfuscated (using "[at]" and "[dot]"), and one that was posted on my resume on my personal website. Beware of mailing lists!

- burke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://slaskpost.se , while we're posting all these links...
- supert0ad, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i use spamgourmet.com. seems to do everything i need
- welshbaloney, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, I prefer spamgourmet. Not only can you invent your address on the spot, but you can specify how many emails get mailed to your personal mailbox, so you don't have to go to a web site constantly to check for emails arriving. Yeah, I know that you're giving personal details to yet another web site...but this suits me better.
- nloui, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1www.dodgeit.com lets you choose any email address when you're filling in the form without ever having to "register" the account and it never expires.
just thought i'd give another choice
i've been using it for ages- devondragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The issue with dodgeit, is two-fold. One) you can't reply to e-mails. Many sites ask for a reply now. Two) there's zero security. Pick any easy word, and you're looking at all that person's spam AND site reg info.
With 10minutemail.com no one else ever sees your e-mails or the info they contain.

- bryceman111, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/1813/ ...has a Firefox extension that automatically pastes disposable e-mails for ya'.
"Create free disposable email addresses and paste them directly in forms. ...
...The email addresses can be deleted at any time!
This plugin uses the free TrashMail.net DEA service." - bariswheel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Hm...what's in it for them?
- pythonhead, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I like jetable.com because with this Firefox extension you can right click on a field asking for an email address and then click on 'Get jetable email address'
No need to open another page and then copy/paste etc.
https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/587/ - Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Who wants that? What if you get a site that's a bit overloaded and has to delay the delivery? Just use a normal spam service like dodgeit.
- devondragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can keep getting an additional 10 minutes as long as you want. So if it's delayed, no big deal.
Again, the issues I see with dodgeit are:
One) you can't reply to e-mails. Many sites ask for a reply now. Two) there's zero security. Pick any easy word, and you're looking at all that person's spam AND site reg info.
With 10minutemail.com no one else ever sees your e-mails or the info they contain.
If those two things aren't important, use dodgeit. - Spo8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Really? I've never had a site that wanted me to reply to activate an account. Ever.
Also, just don't pick an obvious word. If it's important stuff you a) shouldn't be using the service, and b) shouldn't be picking a word that's easy to guess. Throw some random characters in there.
- devondragon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You can keep getting an additional 10 minutes as long as you want. So if it's delayed, no big deal.
- bobabadabouskie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nobody mentioned pookmail.com which is just about all i use. It was dugg a long time ago.
- Geckotek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yup, I always use Pookmail
- mercurysquad, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1NO *****!!
I can read them! Click on links! And EVEN REPLY!!
Holy crap I wet my pants. - mrq8472, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0i use this
http://www.wuzupmail.net/ - dftz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i use this
http://dodgeit.com/ - somabc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=2964
- Lindsay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Not a bad idea..I've been getting a little more junk mail than I'd like recently...I thought that apple mail bounce thing that Kevin talked about on Diggnation was interesting too...there is just too much spam.
- miaow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1sneakmail
- Panthereater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0fantastic!! we need more useful diggs like this.
- jutendouji, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://www.get1mail.com/index.php?slang=EN
Another alternative, and it's easy and painless. - Mimmiroo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1convenient.
- Sparks123, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Mmm.....Nice concept...
- jorgevargas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1another tool for spammers to send you crap and make filters useless thanks!
- thestu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i didn't click on the link for fear of getting pop-ups on my desk-top. instead i came straight to the comments section to see who had clicked on it and if it had worked. i guess that's a good parallel to the paranoia that comes with agreements to submit to the will of the provider of a good or service, especially online. it's that paranoia that all the above commenters passed to save them the paranoia from another provider. huh.
- purplemoon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't know what is the fuzz about this site. There are other similar sites like dodgeit.com and temporaryinbox.com etc:- Moreover I sent a test mail to this site and it never showed up.
