http://www.euro-ombudsman.eu.int/home/en/default.htm - Gazzip, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10The .eu registrations were a complete farce - Registers that are set up for the sole purpose to register domains for themselves for personal profit should not be allowed - These people should be closed down and the hundreds of thousands of domains that these scammers aquired from manipulating the system that was supposed to be in place to avoid this should be re-released to the public of Europe.
Get a grip Eurid !!! Sort this complete BALLS UP out !!! - TomSawyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9One of the more blatant examples (all registered sequentially?):

You can also make a complaint to the European Ombudsman
http://www.euro-ombudsman.eu.int/home/en/default.htm - Kamino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8That site sucks the chrome of a trailier hitch.
Just some huge letters without any theory or information to back it up. It might be even made by a competitor. - scheper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Me neither.. It's almost as if the EURid deliberately turned a blind eye because of all the money they were expecting to make. But even if the restrictions were better, I'd still expect these domain leechers to get their domains one way or another - domains and tlds are complete scams these days.
- weiran, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I think the people who run this site would attest otherwise: http://www.eudomaindesaster.org/
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Is our (UK) tax money being used to fund these EurID people?
- mcfo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8It's nothing short of a scandal! It reeks of corruption and bribery.
- ChrisGranger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Wow, a whopping one member on the forum as of this writing.
So much damning information! I'll be sure to sign up so we can all discuss this! /sarcasm - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5All of the registrars who's names start with "thread" are the same company, same address, same phone number.

- Phazed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7EUROWNED
- fixxation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6This whole process with EurID and the registrars has been a complete scam. I really hope EurID does something to sort this out as most feel ripped-off and cheated by this so-called "registry" ....
- CarlosFromPt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Unbelievable fraud!! 4 years or soo to prepare this process... and now... ZERO .eu's for the people... geeeeeeee
- cipnanet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Unbelievable!! Shame on you EurID... and fix the problem!! Give .eu back to europeans.
- T0PS3O, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Try the ombudsman for a little more weight: http://www.euro-ombudsman.eu.int/form/en/form2.htm
- spikes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Here in Canada, people are losing their .ca domains all the time due to failure to prove the Canadian requirements.
- Inkling, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4And wasn't the EU squawking a couple of weeks ago that they should be allowed to take over the registration process for all domain names all over the world? No way they're going to be allowed to do that now that they've proven that they can't handle it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why do I have the feeling that whoever is running the LLC rackets have more 'companies' than they have 'employees' to put in them?
- tastycheese, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4And these guys seriously wanted to take the internet from ICANN....
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2With crap like this happening .eu will just be another unknown TLD. .eu should be blocked until it's fixed (by Europeans since they're the ones affected by this).
- CarlosFromPt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2is there any petition we can sign so revert this .eu fraud? these eurID people are so incompetent!!
- rosshosman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3And yet we want to trust the international/european community with running the internet, no thanks.....
- JeffClavier, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2We can only expect/hope that Parsons and the other registrars will charge hard on this one. It sounds like EURid tried to come up with a fair process but was extremely naive in their assessment of the way the system could be gamed.

Email info@besite.be - firestarter, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6This proves the rich always have their advantages by in this case setting up dummy corporations to apply for a registar status and Eurid falls for it with their eyes closed and the europeans are the ones that are being treated unfairly.
The reversal process Bob Parson described is a very viable option that certainly needs to be implemented! - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+7To be honest I'm not surprised its a fiasco.
- WilldeLegend, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2What proof? I have a .ca and had nothing to prove to get it. Mind you, I am Canadian and do live in Vancouver, but besides the info I put into the registration how are they confirming that I am indeed Canadian? Do they do a spot audit? I sincerely doubt that it would be cost effective. Perhaps what they should do (and this goes for all country specific domains) is require a Business, Passport, SIN, Social Security Number, or whatever the EU has (cozy up to the beast *wink*) upon registration. This would only apply to Country specific domains and not other TLDs such as .com, .biz, .info, etc.
- SoccerBoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2LLC... Limited Liability Company... interesting. Sure looks like scamming to me.
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Don't worry. I'm sure they share employees so there's enough to go around.
- silkworm, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah, I live in EU, but I can't stand the idea. I certainly trust ICANN more than those bureaucratic pigs.
- Konquest, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3That was unnecessary... Just bury the comment and move along...
- neepneep, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Now to fix this ballsup, maybe some laws can be put into motion that forbids this kind of practice. This kind of act where a company buys up all the useful names and parks them actually hurts people and their businesses because they can't get their domain names legitimately and they lose out in so many ways. This kind of act should be considered on par with blackmail.
There is no ways in hell I am going to take EU domain names seriously until this whole mess can be fixed. - EmSixTeen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Holy Hell..
- nakedcellist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1The whole sunrise and landrush was a big scam anyway: if you wanted to enter for the sunrise, you had to pay a lot (with some registrars around $ 90) which you did NOT get back if they failed to get the domain for you..
- mike_p, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3The EU > No EU... and the EU != UN
They're quite different. - jumjum, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1A socialist internet. When will the Euros learn that socialism doesn't work?
- hackwrench, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1From the article:
which is believed to be backed by North American mega-millionaires
Oh please. Believed by whom?
Oh, and how many "mega-millionaires" are there and what is a mega millionaire as opposed to a millionare and a billionaire? Are they saying they prefer the "long scale" usage of the word billion? - allahmohammed, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1I note that GoDaddy's demand that all newly vetted landrush registrars must prove that they were previously registrars in good standing solely benefits registrars such as GoDaddy and does not improve fairness.
In fact, while there is some truth to GoDaddy's assertion, their proposed "remedy" gives tham a second bite at the apple while new little guys who wanted to break in to being a registrar are shut out. WTG GoDaddy trying to game the system yourself. - timmclargehuge, on 10/12/2007, -17/+14Considering the ineffeciencies in the EU they're probably lucky the only screwed it up this bad.
- phaed, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2wow the EU are a bunch of bumbling idiots!
- mjar81, on 10/12/2007, -14/+10wow. if you take that article out of context, i got: "The big losers are the Europeans"
that's a great quote. - ShortyWhite, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1Something has to be done about this - simple as.
- will-rom, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1One of those three letter gov agencies is definitely behind this. You may bury now.
