Oh, gee, really? MAYBE THAT'S THE POINT. - JeremyBanks, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26Original comment: http://digg.com/tech_news/Digg_An_Easy_Way_to_Hurt_the_RIAA#c4734012
- glasgowm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+17A Google bomb is Internet slang for a certain kind of attempt to influence the ranking of a given page in results returned by the Google search engine, often with humorous or political intentions.[1] Because of the way that Google's algorithm works, a page will be ranked higher if the sites that link to that page use consistent anchor text. A Google bomb is created if a large number of sites link to the page in this manner. Google bomb is used both as a verb and a noun. The phrase "Google bombing" was introduced to the New Oxford American Dictionary in May 2005.[2] Google bombing is closely related to spamdexing, the practice of deliberately modifying HTML pages to increase the chance of their being placed close to the beginning of search engine results, or to influence the category to which the page is assigned in a misleading or dishonest manner.

Google will actually see the display:none and ignore the link, possibly your page and maybe take away 'points' for RIAA+Terroristm...so don't do that. - Sarevok9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16Doing it. right in the subtitle area of my blog

:) - coolspray, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14That didn't last long ;)
- nirav72, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13How about the MPAA?
perhaps , maybe one battle at a time would be better. - CBTF, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12Vote with your dollar, as they say.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12See also: rape; entrapment; greed; abuse of power.
- dagonweb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Done !
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10try "failure" or "miserable failure"
- invader, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9i think TPB should put a Terrorism link at the top of every one of their pages..
Because:
- they have a PR of 6/10
- they have at least a couple hundred pages listed on google (search for [site:thepiratebay.org] and google says 214,000 results)
- they hate the RIAA (and the MPAA) just as much as the rest of us
- they're pirates. - Sarevok9, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Keep to one battle at a time... maybe next week.
- hooksie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@anthonyyeung
Google ignores, and has for a long time, anything with display:none, so that is pointless. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Unless if you have a big comfy seat at your computer. THEN, you can start a revolution. Ready diggers!.....Revolutionize
- edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well, they do use terror tactics (i.e. targeting a few defenseless or apparently defenseless people to cause the majority to bend to their will). They could definitely be said to be terrorists.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@Archeologist
How the hell would google monitor that?
@bpapa
Well actually no one got blacklisted because of the Bush:failure googlebomb, infact google wrote about it on their blog and chose to leave the results as they were.
http://googleblog.blogspot.com/2005/09/googlebombing-failure.html - beanso, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It may not start a revolution, but it should be good for a laugh.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Well, according to the definition our government has been throwing around, they most certainly are terrorists.
They might not be muslim extremists, but they hate our freedom and extort people (by masking it as a "lawsuit").
I hope if there's another terorrist attack, that it's directed to them. - Bean945, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4haha, internets, you cease to amaze me
- baxtermaddux, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4its never too early to start kicking the MPAA in the ass.
i love the smell of napalm in the morning - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Lighten up. Do you even have a sense of humor?

- flarn2006, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Please don't vandalize Wikipedia.

Yeah everybody, don't abuse and vadalize Wikipedia.
Vandalizing and abusing google search results on the other hand, perfectly OK, have at it. Feel free to go with the dumb masses. - strabes, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@scratched: allofmp3.com
- borninda818, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2it's still there...
- jake13jake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If enough people wrote an article on their front page -legitimately- discussing how the RIAA could be viewed as terrorists, and then href'd the word terrorists every time it was mentioned, that it wouldn't be too bad of a deal.
The problem of the RIAA is their attempt to make things scarce that don't really have to be scarce. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2snap
- Mejogid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you take it down, the google bomb will drop. Just leave it in your archives/on some obscure part of you're site!
- TheElectricMonk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2dont buy artists albums, buy their merch, they make a ***** of alot more off merch anyway
- bizchris, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Waffles
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@scratched
The RIAA gives almost no money to the artist. Even good sellers can end up in debt to the RIAA, because they see almost nothing from album sales.
@strabes
allofmp3 doesn't give any money at all to the artists.
Both of you, just download, and go to as many concerts as you can. They get money from concerts. - invader, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i'm going to participate in this google bomb, but i'm not going to spam digg by posting the link ;-)
- diggdallas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+5I've never heard of a "Google bomb", but I've always enjoyed showing friends how when you Google "worst president ever" Bush's official White House website was the first result. However, I just now tried it and its #3.
- arkmtech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow. Just... wow.
The comment was meant in a humorous light - I never actually expected a bomb to go off in the blog-o-sphere because of this. *rimshot* In any case, if there is revolution to be had, more power to the people. - coolspray, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Try 'liar'.
- ryland2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Brilliant, i just emailed them the suggestion
- SpoBo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1mwahaha I'm so doing this. too bad my blog isn't popular but oh well :D For the fun of it.
- jtdgrz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Then use a link saying DON'T SUPPORT TERRORISM, and link to the RIAA. It won't affect your ranks, and your users should find it amusing.
- sleze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Done :)

Terrorism. - UnoriginalMind, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2You know why common sense is dugg down? BECAUSE EVERYONE ALREADY HAS IT.
- green1152, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Pretty much anyone can do this, right? If you have a myspace, that's a searchable web page. I'm doing it.
- eiknarf05, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1http://geeik.blogspot.com/2007/01/terrorism.html
done. *fist* - 13thfloor, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1@ UnoriginalMind: I beg to differ. Common sense is no longer very common. If by definition it still exists, then it must certainly be at a much lower overall level of quality.
