Why cant we get a decent pda style cell phone, with a camera, bluetooth, wifi, expandable memory and good battery life? But also fast enough to run skype, i hear your can overclock the cingular 8125 and do it, but that is lame. I was looked at a treo 650 but looks like alot of work to mod just for wifi.

they dont have a motivator for good data service. think about wimax. - rattus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1because our carriers disable it to make sure they're not missing out on any profits.
example: I imported the nokia e61 (802.11n, microSD [I use a 2G card], symbian 60v3, wcdma and quad band gsm). Cingular has released the e62 which is basically the same phone with disabled wifi and a miniusb2 port instead of the nokia proprietary interface.
perhaps some day soon american providers will get away from the constant boning of the customer and attempting to lock them into their lame product offerings. The entire world gets mobile tech two years ahead of the US market for less money, with better service, and more competition. - ZeonZumDeikun, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1One word: iPhone.

I'm on a treo right now, but the iPhone (i'm sure) will do everything I really need the treo for. The only thing that I'm gonna miss is SSH via phone, and toccer for AIM.

2 GB miniSD, Bluetooth, IR, Wifi, Phone, Camera and battery life isn't bad neither. - acslat3r, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think they are just trying to stem the loss of ebay's stock price which stems from many mistakes outside of skype but includes over-paying for this commodity service. I also don't see how it was a smart move buying a non-majority in craigslist.org and buying into prostores.com which was probably the biggest waste of money yet.
