- PhunkyBob, on 10/21/2008, -0/+40Thank god I'm unemployed already.
- CCB0x45, on 10/21/2008, -2/+12Apples numbers were pretty outstanding today, as were googles, both stocks shot up after hours after their earnings report. So obviously its not all tech in general like you said.
Yahoo is seriously idiotic in the choices they have made, reject an offer from MS for $32 a share, and now they are at $12 and laying off 10%, what were they thinking? - santiago1, on 10/21/2008, -2/+11 You call that the Tech Industry? I'm thinking more along the lines of Intel, AMD, Applied Materials, TEL, Wafertech, etc. Companies that actually are partly responsible for the creation of most of what you see around you these days.
Those that are listed are more like the Internet Industry. Things that came about mostly because of the capitalistic capabilities of the open Internet. - AmyVernon, on 10/21/2008, -0/+8Wow these layoffs look like the newspaper industry.
- macslut, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7"See a pattern here? "
Yes, when your company kicks ass, it doesn't have to lay people off. - DeepFreezed, on 10/21/2008, -0/+7usually tech industry invest during the down turn so they have better products when economy picks up. Companies that cannot understand that should really get out of the tech business.
- Samsong, on 10/21/2008, -1/+6I haven't layed anyone off...
Do I kick ass? XD - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5The sum total of all those layoffs is probably less than the ass-***** going on at a company like GM.
- webgeek2point0, on 10/22/2008, -0/+5What is this list? They're listing companies that layoff a total of 6 and 7 employees. Oh noes!! This happens no matter how good or bad the economy is and in any industry. This is just sensationalism and fear mongering. Buried.
- publiclurker, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4I'd verify your claim, but with that name I'd hate to guess what sort of photos they have.
- perogi21, on 10/22/2008, -1/+5Unfortunately, it really doesn't. Most people are still imbeciles.
- curiousg1414, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4i bet they all divided by 0
- londubh, on 10/21/2008, -0/+4Too bad *****.com went away. It's now a photo site.
- StephenCIreland, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3ironically the newspaper industry is employing more people :D
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -2/+5Nope...that is why you are not getting any ass.
- diggdatt, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3I think it was smart for yahoo to turn down M$
- lestyoubejudged, on 10/21/2008, -1/+4Ha ha, my tech firm blocked access to this page.
- cubicledrone, on 10/22/2008, -1/+4Well, if you build ***** for 40 years, you can't bitch about the smell.
- publiclurker, on 10/21/2008, -1/+4So the liberals are hiring all the illegals? Please reserve your racist rants for your klan friends.
- josejimenez, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2The list has a bunch of Web 2.0 sites, most of whom, have no business model, generate little to no income and survive by obtaining rounds of venture capital funding.
- cubicledrone, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Go out of business? Sounds like a management problem, not an employee problem.
- CoolHandLuke, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2How is that racist?
- TeabagginKRose, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I work near the Silicon Valley at Avid/M-Audio/Digidesign/Sibelius and ironically today is the first layoffs we've ever had and it was a sad day.
- Jaablaze, on 10/23/2008, -0/+2not wanting ILLEGAL aliens in this country is not racist.
- erich13, on 01/29/2009, -0/+1How many are from companies who are just switching from US-based employees to non-US-based employees?
- SickofSects, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1This does not look like it has anything to do with the economy.. I am sure every week of the year, you can draw up a list of 10 itty-bitty tech companies laying off people.. companies fail all the time, even in the best of times.
- mbonnin, on 10/21/2008, -2/+3And the alternative is?
Don't cut jobs -> Go out of business -> Even more jobs losses -> Even worse economy - inactive, on 10/21/2008, -2/+3Just because a company has a web presence doesn't make it a "tech" company. ie. Zillow is about as much a tech company as I am a lover of McCain.
- DriversPlaza, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1nice one mate.. i got the current one @ http://www.techb.net/
- Jaablaze, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1seriously. just in the last week I've seen reports where people still think obama is muslim.
- killdashnine, on 10/21/2008, -1/+2Cut jobs -> More unemployment -> Less spending -> Worse Economy
All in the name of giving shareholders the best ROI. - lynx44, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Ok, now do Microsoft!
- wilhoitm, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1You better start polishing your resume! Another key sign is when they stop taking out the trash and they have the first line Managers take it out, that is a sure sign you are out of luck!
- cubicledrone, on 10/21/2008, -2/+3Yes. :P Happy?
- cajunfire, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Has everyone hugged an IT employee lately? It might be a tough fourth quarter!
- wilhoitm, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Interesting to see how many of the big companies will lay people off!
- orlyfactor, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Oh god I hope Cuil doesn't lay anyone off!!!!
- ha$$le, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Not where I work. I'm a programmer (SAS mostly but I have my fingers stuck in lots of languages) and when i tell folks what I do for a living, I get swamped with ass kisses and offers for lunch by recruiters in other depts. I work in health care so that may be part of it...
- lestyoubejudged, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Yep
- bainzyboss, on 12/14/2008, -0/+0Offshoring will take up the slack when theses high techs go to the wall...the UK, USA and Europe are far too expensive for the services that they offer....Globalisation is now becoming a reality and its gonna hurt a lot of people...
- raferx, on 10/21/2008, -1/+1For real?
- Seidoger, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1Oh NO! NOT HI5!
If that can make them stop ***** bugging me to join their crap, I'm in.
The good thing is that now you American voters have that right in your face, at time of election, it keeps you away from your traditional maters such as "Which president candidate went to church" or "slept with who" and things like that. - mtaram, on 05/14/2009, -0/+0I am trying to compile all 2009 layoffs in one and will post soon on my blog http://blogwp.mtaram.com
- TheJobless, on 02/21/2009, -0/+0I came across this site when I was searching about Sapient layoffs. This site has always latest news and forums about layoffs:
www.4thejobless.com - inactive, on 10/21/2008, -5/+4They need to fire a lot more people and get cheaper more reliable labor via H1-B Visas.
Screw it, they should open the borders like liberals want to. Illegals only take jobs that Americans don't want to do. So they should let everyone in. - inactive, on 10/21/2008, -2/+1feneto
- smackydoodle, on 10/21/2008, -2/+0tick tock tick tock
- cubicledrone, on 10/21/2008, -11/+6How many mass layoffs has Google had? Oh, that's right. None.
Google kicks everyone's ass.
Coincidence?
Mass layoffs at Apple? Nope.
Apple kicks everyone's ass.
See a pattern here?
