- hgcphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+96I just love watching the screensavers. I hope they can bring it back.
The time we got G4/TechTV on cable was when TechTV was in the thick of being acquired by G4 and when Leo left the show. Those blokes really know how to ruin a good thing. - dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+58"(And yes, g4 sucks butt.)"
Understatement of the year award there. Not only does it suck the butt, it doesn't have the decency to provide a reach around or buy dinner first. G4 makes the WWE, Fear Factor, Fox, and John Madden look like Masterpiece Theater. - jacobee519, on 10/12/2007, -0/+57Long live TechTV!
:-D
(And yes, g4 sucks butt.) - davetcg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+47
For a while, The Screensavers was an hour and a half long every night. I'd rush through dinner, grab my laptop, and sit on the couch and play along with Pat and Leo. Even though the show was 90 minutes long, I was still wanting more at the end of it.
This story just made my day. - Ehrgeiz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+35Yes!! Getting techtv back would be great, I hate g4 for the crap they pulled when they bought and killed the channel.
- EtherGnat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+39Is there any chance we could stop having this discussion in EVERY story that's been dugg?
- Narayan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+32I bet someone is going to feel really stupid for dumping TechTV if this gets as popular as I expect it to.
Viva La TechTV. - areric, on 10/12/2007, -2/+31@Sphonix
The reason people do that is because Duggmirror automatically checks the referring and redirects you to the appropriate site based on where you came from. All you need to do is link to duggmirror from any digg.com comments page and youll get the appropriate site. - eean, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25Martin already does shows on revision3.com
- jlunski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23Too bad they couldn't "undo" G4, that channel went to hell in a hand-basket real quick after the "merger". I used to tune into ZDTV (which later became TechTV) and actually LEARN something, now G4 has become a wasteland of Star Trek reruns and crappy shows on how to reach level X in game Y by entering the right cheat code... Sad... And don't even get me started on AotS, lame show with a lame host (Kevin whatever sucks @SS) does not help the cause.
- smujeremy, on 10/12/2007, -3/+23Martin Sargent is awesome, I loved Unscrewed.
I miss TechTV, I used to come home from class and watch the screen savers and call for help every day at lunch.
Last time I saw XGames on G4, Morgan Webb was no longer on there, but Adam still was with some blond. - jk3us, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Speaking of people we miss... I miss Kate Botello.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+24>> ...grab my laptop, and sit on the couch and play along with Pat and Leo.
That just sounds wrong. - dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21revision3, as well as ExtremeTech, if you want to get technical about it. Martin is also working on some pilot for USA on ebaumsworld, along with the wrestler Chris Jericho. But, the lynchpin of what TechTV was, was all in Leo. He has the pull and influence to get everyone together, and that will only make for good entertainment.
- SuperBloomie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19or maybe it's just right....
- flag564, on 10/12/2007, -5/+24I could never dishonor TNG by watching it on G4.
- dWhisper, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18Aye, they do. Course, what really made for the best entertainment was some of the other things. Now I need to hope and pray for Martin Sargent to get tapped to help out with this, maybe tie in to a little site called digg for Kevin (hmmm... daily geek news show).
Course, the biggest coup could be achieved by luring away Adam and Morgon, so, you know, they could once again have... what's that word... credibilitiy? - Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16Speaking of him, I miss Laura Swisher
;) - andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+17Sessler is not funny. he is probably a nice guy and I wouldn't mind having a beer with him, but he's too nerdy for mainstream networks.
- Stumblinforward, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14I loved TSS and CFH, i rarely even changed channels, so much so i was starting to think the TechTV logo was being burned into my screen.
Cant wait to see what these guys do. - NinjaBoy, on 10/12/2007, -10/+22The man show is lame. It was funny for its first season. But after that it got really repetitive.
- cresswga, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12I thought Martin had said that his ebaum show wasn't picked up.
Which, whilst it is a shame for Martin who is great, it should at least keep some money out of Baums grubby little mits. - richard5mith, on 10/12/2007, -5/+17What does this site have to do with TechTV, short of Leo being involved? Looks more like YouTube + pictures and audio. Or in other words, another content sharing site trying to jump on the bandwagon.

I used to watch tech tv everyday when i was [insert age here]. I used to watch the screen savers right after I [insert activity here]. Tech tv was [insert possitive adjective here].
I hate G4, they are [insert negative adjective here].
Every night i pray to [insert religious leader here] that tech tv returns. Bring back tech tv! - spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+12Kevin Perreira is awesome but they give him ***** material to work with. Compared to the old TSS crew I hated Kevin P at first until he was asked to name 3 Doom cheat codes from memory and he did it in 5 seconds.
- Sphonix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Eeeek. I clicked "digg it" and it jumped from 250ish to around 350 :)
I didn't know I had so much power.
At this rate, this article going to end up with A LOT of diggs. - Novagenesis, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14oldschool techtv fan who cancelled cable when G4 came to town... So yeah, I'm excited about this site. I miss TSS. I miss when the geeks on the show were actually dressed and groomed like geeks! Yeah, I miss that Mac guy Leo Laporte, too, I..um..suppose. :)
- spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Adam Sessler is one of the best TV hosts I've ever seen. He's at his best when he's adlibbing. He is always the most interesting host when they do live content at E3 or what have you, though other personalities like Geoff Keighly and Kevin Perreira are pretty witty as well.
Blame X-Play's writers if you don't like The Sess. He's survived 3 network changes for a reason. - etank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8I can't wait to see how this turns out. I found TSS when TechTV was being bought out and I hate what Comcast did to such an awesome channel. Bring back TSS.
- musicbear, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11This doesn't really look like TechTv reborn. It looks like Chris and Leo's attempt at youtube. I'd like to see where it goes, but is it only tech? Or is it also just more people getting hit in the nads?
- cquinnd, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Calling Leo a "Mac guy" shows you're not nearly as oldschool as you claim.
- FortuneSon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9i really miss tech tv. i enjoyed all the insanity and brilliance that was tech tv. *tear drips down* i miss you man, i miss you.
- knodi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10OMG loved ZD/Tech TV.
- hankosky, on 10/12/2007, -17/+25http://duggmirror.com
- coit, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I agree, it doesn't look like a specific rebirth of TechTV, other than a mention of previoius on air talent. Perhaps he made mention of that on one of his blogs, or Chris did?
It looks like a YouDIGGTube to me! - vt19991, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7The idiots at G4 certainly killed off what was becoming a very cool and helpful channel. I can understand that video games go well with a lot of nerds but G4 is just an overdose of it without any of the cool and helpful and fun shows like The Screen Savers, Call For Help etc. I listen to Leo Laporte and the gang on 'This week in Tech' podcast, but it will sure be great to watch them on video again.
The bozos at the big corporations do not have a clue when it comes to tech programming. - flashboy131, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8my first reaction when I saw G4 instead of TechTV was.
"what the f#ck is this."
I hope they get picked up. - andyatkinson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10I think Kevin P. is a good host, he has the right personality for the job. Unfortunately the writing for the show places almost no emphasis on useful tech tips, demos of new products, noteworthy websites and web services. Kevin P. could talk about this stuff just as well, but the show is not written for the same target audience anymore (and I guess never was hence the rename).
- TheBlackLeopard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Don't forget that Call For Help is still running in Canada and Australia. You can buy episodes on Google Video for 99cents. Leo always refers to it as like "old school Screensavers".
You can get your Leo fix there. Although his co-host Amber Macarthur speaks like a robot. - erichoya, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Erica Hill.....now she could deliver tech news.... It's good to see her on CNN nowadays.
- crosenblum, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9I miss techtv as well...
I want my techtv!
I want the ScreenSavers with pat and leo, leo and pat.
I want my Call for Help
I want my Fresh Gear...
Just have to find way to be profitable, cheap and hugely growth...
We geeks are the meisters of the new communication stream, don't screw with our entertainment...
:) - Joe_rigby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6See, if someone would pick up the tab for them - some network decided to have a tech show line up, and they brought back TSS with Leo and Patrick, it'd be .. like a goldmine. Think of the advertising revenue!
Someone do that. Ok? - gfailure, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6What, the face of geek television starting a new project? I can't really see how that would get a lot of diggs.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6"You can get your Leo fix there."
...Or you could try http://twit.tv, which is entirely free. - christopher, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Looking at the site (or the mirror of it) it seems that this is going to be along the lines of some of the user content sites that are very popular now (digg, youtube, flickr, etc.)
How are they going to differentiate themselves? well, it seems to be by
1. putting all media in one place:
"Easy.
Upload any type of media
Organized.
Everything in one place
Ranked.
Voting promotes the best postings"
2. and having backing (and hopefully content) from chris and leo:
"Videos, photos, audio, text"
I hope it does well but i, personally, will be primarily interested in the content the staff themselves put out. This means you Leo! ;) - spyrochaete, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6It says right on the page that all the submitted content will be profesisonally created, and that they are NOT interested in making a Youtube clone. RTFWWW
- GravitySpec, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I remember when they first made the announcement that G4 was taking over TechTV. It was like MTV meets Gaming that always left a bad taste in my mouth with the overabundance of fake "energy" they put into the shows. I wonder if they will have Cat Schwartz and Patrick Norton as well. I can't wait to see what they do with this. Long live Leo and the gang!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Or the bigger version:
http://www.offkilter.com/images/catlrg.jpg - sjrberg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Oh the sweet irony...almost the same day Comcast announces it's given up on G4, having already killed any good programming left from TechTV, TechTV alumini launch UndoTV.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I miss Cat and more of her nude hidden Exif images from her blog:
