- Blabster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+31People work there? (sarcasm)
No honestly, no wonder google is such a leading company. Treat employees like kings/queens and become a king/queen company :P - twtmc, on 10/12/2007, -3/+30Did anybody else notice that on their "Idea Board" there was a giant mirror right beside a DEATH STAR!!! GOOGLE WILL BLOW UP EARTH AND WE WILL BE FORCED TO LIVE IN GOOGLES CACHE!
- cplusplus, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17Time says its "laidback" at Google. But I bet its a pressure cooker where you must produce tons of new amazing stuff, work at night, holidays and weekends. My idea of a laidback employer is one who lets me leave the office from time to time.
- Crucifix, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16My thoughts exactly. The only reason I can assume they have all that cool stuff is so employees don't burn out from the long strenuous hours. My 7.5hr work day goes by just fine without a gourmet meal or professional blow job (err... massage). I suppose it's a good place for single workaholics, but I have a life to live.
- kdkusano, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17Seeing as how every pro-cat comment has been buried, looks like digg users are big dog fans
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+15Looks like a nice place to work.

I enjoyed these the first time they came around on Digg... but I'm happy
stuff gets re-posted as I do miss a lot on Digg.
I think Digg needs an alert feature like Google has. - OriginalLucid1, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13Dude, not everyone has been glued to Digg from the get go. If it made the front page, it is because a bunch of people haven't seen it, or people who have seen it before wanna see it again. If you don't, digg it down and go on.
- Captiva, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10Is digg only for new stuff on the web? Are historical articles not to be "dugg"? Please let me know what I can & cannot do here.
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10jealous? just maybe?
- pwallroth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8On the 4th picture one of the note's says "Giant mirror reflects sunlight to earth's dark side, keeps people up at night so they can use google more."
- Naga10, on 10/12/2007, -0/+690 hours a week!
- nobogeys217, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7that looks like it is one of the coolest places to work ever.
after seeing that, there is gonna be a lot of lazy slackers apply for a job at google. - Llanowar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Don't believe it! It's all just a trap! *gets paranoid*
- Captiva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Right. Let's see the payroll & benefits department, or accounting. I wonder if there is a "GAAP Idea Board" in the CFO's office.
- kdkusano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5what does that even mean?
- MxxCon, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5indeed. people seem to have too short of a memory...
a story with photos from google's office...don't you people think it would've been on digg the same day it was published?...and IT WAS ON DIGG the same day it was published! - hackmiester, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The point of all teh cool stuff is to make it like a home away from home.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+11This is at least 2 years OLD.
"come to the magic googleplex, we're supersmart people who just have fun all the day long. this is the kind of workplace you have always dreamed. You can swim, play volley, and do whatever you want."
ps: the guy swimming in the pool has been fired 5 minutes later.
http://sitereservation.com/xooglers/ - simpleid, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Right, think about this a little but more rationally. A dog you can keep in a small caged environment, if any of you have cats like me you KNOW that can't happen. Certainly my cat nor any I've seen would feel comfortable in a large foriegn environment being forced in to small spaces. It's just in a cats nature to be able to easily deal with the whole move/space/noises/people. Dogs on the other hand are obviously more social creatures and can tolerate being moved and put in small areas.
It has nothing to do with Cats vs. Dogs, Google obviously cares more about your pets than you do. Considering by the sound of your arguing you'd probably bring a cat if you could. That would be hell for most cats. - DjOverEZ, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I appears Google looks like all those .com startup companies did in the mid-90's: All fun and games with the appearance of no work getting done. The reason Google survived and the others didn't likely revolves around the fact that Google actually got work done whereas many others just rode around on scooters all day.
- Burmask, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Other companies should take note.
- wildcatcs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Actually, my wife has a friend who's son works at google. He isn't all the impressed with working there. Everything is fun and all and the over time isn't bad either. But the google culture with all the break rooms and hang outs take time away from doing work which means working in off hours to get the job done. For example, everyone in the group goes and sees a movie in the middle of the day. You don't want to be left out so you go with them and have fun. Problem for him, he has a family and sets a higher value on family time.
So guess what. That kind of environment can be fun but it has it's costs too. Also, she's been in there for an open house and described it as IKEA meets TutorTime. - rawM3TAL, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3IT'S A ***** CULT.
- lcohiomatty86, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3to you guys knocking on the lifeguard reading.. does it matter that he is? this isnt a swimming pool full of kids that needs to have constant attention on it.. this is 1 guy swimming in a stay in place pool... as long as you hear the steady pace of the arms hitting the water.. things are probably ok... if ya hear muffeled screaming and random sporadic splashes.. than i think someones needs help...
- roxics, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I want to see a real photo essay of google that shows both the good and the bad. People have to work there otherwise nothing would get done. They must keep those people trapped in the basement. The first floor with all its swag and cafes is for marketing. :)
- laniik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3i work at google, and it is actually pretty laid back. they value innovation and simple implementation more than crazy programming hours. and the people are all pretty cool as far as computer scientists go. we all get drunk on the caltrain back to the city on friday and theres usually a pretty good google party scene on the weekends.
- indicas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and that's why you don't work at Google..
- cjdaniel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://xkcd.com/c192.html
- Adrianc333, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Yep.
I certainly wouldn't mind working there. :D - elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Bunch = "A cluster"
Hedonistic = "Of or pertaining to a person whose life is devoted to the pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification"
Freemasons = "A member of a widely distributed secret order having for its object mutual assistance and the promotion of brotherly love among its members."
So, from that, we can extrapolate that they are
"A cluster of people who are completely devoted to the pursuit of pleasure and self-gratification who are all members of a secret order having for its object the mutual assistance and the promotion of brotherly love among its members. "
Which.. doesn't make sense.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a freaking duplicate! And these people know that they're double posting something, yet they continue to do so...
- m3mn0n, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, talk about a sweet job.
- andrewry, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It may be old, but lots of people, including me, have seen it before. There is no need for about 10 people each saying it's old when lots of people realize that. Digg would be a much better place without idiots like you.
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Show me a picture of this 'knifing' action, and then I'll explain to you why you're stupid.
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://itsatrap.ytmnd.com/
- Captiva, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Does anyone old work there?
old = over 31 with something else then themselves to care for (or their dog) ;) - DigitalDud, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2So it's like all the other big high tech companies.
- jbaez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i would looove to work there hahaa
- catullus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1ha @naga, Pirates of Silicon Valley right?
- rayishu, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would rather work here than Willi Wonkas Chocolate Factory....
- ScottMaximus1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://itsatrap.ytmnd.com/
- hadak, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Much better than where i work, but we still have it pretty good. Check out this article, and keep in mind that we're getting a MAME machine for xmas :D

Until they find out your dog works harder and smarter than you.
- mbball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I wonder what the bathrooms look like...
- elnerdo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Spacebar,
1. To carry a backboard, you hold it horizontally, so, really once you pick it up, it doesn't matter if it was upside down or not. Plus, you lay it flat to slide it under a person, so again, it doesn't matter which way it's stored.
2. The headblocks are probably in that big case next to the backboard. - kd1s, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Oh man - I want to work there. I could actually get a dog if I did. That's my biggest problem, as I understand how needy dogs can be. I'd feel so bad leaving one at home during the day.
- entity3sf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0calmebob = weird, off medication, in need of increased couseling, delusional, couldn't get accepted into Masons, Republican.
