- Pseudorious, on 04/26/2009, -0/+130Anyone who gets health or any other advice from twitter deserves to live in a fog of misinformation.
That said, if people do wrongly believe that you can catch swine flu from pork, then perhaps cheaper bacon will become a reality. - filldeviant, on 04/26/2009, -10/+73I'll say it before somebody else does:
***** TWITTER. - S1ngular1ty1, on 04/26/2009, -0/+58So basically, Twitter is like high school.
- ReeferChiefer42, on 04/26/2009, -15/+64God I hate Twitter and its users so much.
- drmobutu, on 04/26/2009, -0/+45Eating bacon will protect you from swine flu...I heard it on Twitter...
- ZhiZaki, on 04/26/2009, -6/+49There are grown ass people who think you can get pregnant from oral sex, sleeping next to one another and "a look". Does it surprise anyone that those same people go to Twitter first when they have health issues?
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -0/+35I created a Twitter account only to Tweet this:
THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT SWINE FLU: DYE YOUR HAIR GREEN.
This will make idiots a lot easier to spot, you're welcome. - maxer64, on 04/26/2009, -0/+24I'm ready for the pig zombie apocalypse. I've been playing Left 4 Dead instead of studying for finals. In the long run, that will be a good decision.
- acegi, on 04/26/2009, -2/+26we herd you like twitter so we put a swine flu in your twitter so you can die while you tweet
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -0/+19Twitter, Facebook, and Wikipedia- now I'm the like the pope of the internet, totally infallible!
- diggbury, on 04/26/2009, -3/+20I WONDER WHAT OPRAH'S GOT TO SAY ABOUT THIS
- zbeast, on 04/26/2009, -1/+17Squeeeeel, Squeeeeel... OH my god I have it ... my hands they are turning into hooves Ikjaga jjgdas
- quirkopatra, on 04/26/2009, -2/+17Am I the only one that thinks blaming Twitter is a little lame?
You can get misinformation anyplace.
For all you die-hard liberals out there: "Like Fox News!"
Anyplace that people are freely allowed to express themselves, discernment is advised.
I'm just annoyed that they had a press conference and didn't advise people not to travel to Mexico right now. It would seem to be common sense not to travel to Mexico right now, until this situation is better understood or resolved. - LucasVB, on 04/26/2009, -1/+16#ihatetwitter
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -3/+16whats a grown ass person?
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -1/+13Looking over the Digg front page, I see... THREE articles about "Swine Flu". Yeah, obviously it's TWITTER to blame for the media over-reaction to this year's "OMG KILLER FLU" nonsense.
- GeekNurse, on 04/27/2009, -0/+12You CAN get pregnant from oral sex. Don't swallow, just spit it into your snatch.
- jsdratm, on 04/26/2009, -4/+14No kidding, who cares if you are taking a ***** or whatever that you just have to share with the world. I don't really wanna know what you are doing at all times of the day.
- Bologner, on 04/26/2009, -3/+13ZOMG SAR- I MEAN SWINE FLU IS GOING TO KILL US ALL! EVERYBODY PANIC!
- eliot2000, on 04/26/2009, -0/+10The typos are a nice touch.
- thegreypilgrim, on 04/26/2009, -0/+10Mainstream media are equally to blame sometimes. NZ news site stuff.co.nz carried a headline this morning "Swine flu is here" on news of *suspected* cases. Later story headline changed to "Swine flu fears hit NZ". Big difference between 'likely' and 'definitely', but there you go - sensational headlines will always win over accurate ones.
- repruhsent, on 04/26/2009, -0/+10Cheap bacon? ***** sweet.
- JollyDumple, on 04/26/2009, -1/+10People just like to blame twitter because it's getting more popular. Although getting misinformation from Fox News is a little different from hearing a stupid rumor from some random guy on the internet.
- Almightymole, on 04/26/2009, -0/+9No thanks, I could get Swine flu!
- jsdratm, on 04/26/2009, -0/+9GRABBIN PEELS! PILLS HERE!
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -1/+9whats shaqs opinion?
- digitalArtform, on 04/26/2009, -0/+8If I had wanted to read your comment, *****, I would have, um. something witty.
The point is people treat Twitter comments like they are ephemeral when they are actually quite persistent. - quirkopatra, on 04/26/2009, -0/+8Eat healthily and exercise?
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -1/+8I for one welcome our new pig man overlords.
- inactive, on 04/26/2009, -2/+9For the other 70% of people that don't have a Laptop permanently attached to their crotch and dont twitter ... thiers no panic
- Zarokima, on 04/26/2009, -0/+7http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2008/4/23/
- milkmage, on 04/27/2009, -0/+7dugg for grown ass
- jeremymccurdy, on 04/26/2009, -0/+7I never thought I'd ever sign up for a twitter account, but spreading disinformation is a worthy cause, and a good way to blow twenty minutes.
- supakoopa, on 04/27/2009, -1/+8Thats because the swine flu microbacteria is repelled by number 3 green dye.
Post that and CNN will have a story on it. - waydee, on 04/27/2009, -1/+8Easy solution - just don't visit twitter.com, I can't say I've ever felt like I'm missing out on anything. Celebrity tweety twatty buzzword nonsense and misinformation? i'll stick to good ol' television for that thanks.
- christinme, on 04/26/2009, -0/+7Jolly is right. The difference is that we expect truth and honesty and facts from news companies. We expect them to research their stuff before posting it. Twitter users are necessarily expected to research before posting.
PS. FOX NEWS IS DUMB AND I HOPE THEY GO DOWN. - nurbsenvi, on 04/26/2009, -1/+7I have never twated but I think it's gonna suck.
- UnterDenLinden, on 04/26/2009, -0/+6Don't get fat...
Don't have family members who got sick... - deboosher, on 04/26/2009, -4/+10http://bacolicio.us/http://digg.com/tech_news/Swin ...
now you have swine flu! - Sethbacca, on 04/27/2009, -0/+6Bacon!!! Why have you forsaken me!!!
- Chooxo, on 04/26/2009, -1/+7I fear a future where every major news story is accompanied by a "here's the Twitter angle" story.
- magoghm, on 04/27/2009, -0/+6Excellent idea. Let's make this viral! (no pun intended :)
- satori3000, on 04/27/2009, -0/+6assuming someone is following you.
- inactive, on 04/27/2009, -0/+5It makes me so sad that you are right.
- tim507, on 04/27/2009, -1/+6why the hell is everyone freaking out? don't worry, everything will be swine.
- nullcodes, on 04/26/2009, -3/+8To be fair, if I saw pigs flying, I would twitter it too.
Wait did you say flew, or flu? - graywolfz10, on 04/27/2009, -0/+5But your telling us not to believe what we hear on the internet yet your on the internet. Should I not believe you?
- DivisibleByZero, on 04/26/2009, -0/+5I thought we already learned this lesson from the "Amazon s delisting gay books!" fiasco.
- jlo0312, on 04/26/2009, -1/+6The mainstream media is worse that Twitter, Digg, Stumbleupon, etc. Twitter users receive nothing for posting on the site. However, the media has to sell newscasts to get better ratings, have provocative headlines to sell papers, etc. Twitter is second-hand informaton, so people only pass on what they read. There needs to be prudence in posting EVERYTHING...America is becoming a land of Citizen Journalists, and there needs to be a code of ethics established. I am positive that in the coming months/years, someone will hype something on Twitter that will end up hurting or killing another person. And the courts will follow the posts back to that person and serve justice. Think of the Sexting suicide...
I am not saying that it's right, or wrong. But if you're capable of using the internet, you should be able to disseminate what you read. Take some responsibility. -
