- MuffinFlavored, on 06/19/2008, -0/+260Why is there a picture of a motherboard?
- cdawzrd, on 06/18/2008, -3/+209Personal data storage will never be "obsolete". There will always be things I'd rather not store out in the cloud, so to speak.
- SoopaflySAM, on 06/19/2008, -2/+119I thought the internet was going to end by 2012
- xadamxwaltonx, on 06/19/2008, -7/+89It's over 9000!
- diggproof, on 06/19/2008, -1/+72...and ComCast will throttle it so it's only 1,000 times faster to thwart "bandwidth hogs"
- voodoochild461, on 06/19/2008, -2/+70the porn industry will explode. buy stock now.
- fluidfoundation, on 06/18/2008, -14/+78There is a limit on the usefulness of delivering porn to me faster. How about letting me savor the moment, geniuses??
- wesleyzero, on 06/19/2008, -2/+53Finally, Internet service that comes as quickly as I do.
- kd420, on 06/19/2008, -0/+47Its to demonstrate how the picture can have nothing to do with the story, just like the description can have nothing to do with the article.
- benologist, on 06/19/2008, -2/+450:24?
- Surferess, on 06/18/2008, -4/+46Very interesting. My husband works for EMC. I say bring on the super-interwebs!
- coheedcollapse, on 06/19/2008, -0/+37The only thing that sucks is that we'll probably never have it in the US if the current internet companies have their way.
- DAC1138, on 06/19/2008, -4/+36"Imagine a world where..."
CHEEEEESSSEEEYYYY!!!! That opening sentence has been used too many times and loses it's zip. - HueytheFreeman, on 06/19/2008, -0/+31So then use rar. It compresses better anyways.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -2/+30what moment?
- codered1322, on 06/19/2008, -0/+26I live for ten second clips.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+23Women don't type 'interwebs'. What is this. I demand an explanation.
- jjmanton, on 06/19/2008, -0/+24the tubes used to create an internet like this would have to be huge...
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -1/+23...and at only $780 a month from Comcast, it's a real bargain!
- atarijedi, on 06/19/2008, -0/+19If you read the article, you would find out.
- sr3yas, on 06/19/2008, -0/+18LOL..... explode
- thatsoccerkid, on 06/19/2008, -0/+18all in one page. dugg
- poolqueue, on 06/19/2008, -1/+17so... no hard drives, how will this effect data security?
even if people kept their hard drives, you cant download data faster than it can be written to the hard drive. - synaesthesia, on 06/19/2008, -3/+19Actually there are no women on the internet.
- HueytheFreeman, on 06/19/2008, -0/+16*affect
- 4321234, on 06/19/2008, -0/+16The fap, fap, fap would turn into a high pitched whine at those speeds.
- t3rmv3locity, on 06/19/2008, -2/+18Dosen't it seem like at the end this turns into a VMWare ad?
- scabbers, on 06/19/2008, -4/+19Cos they developed a super fast internet to cope with all the data or something. I didn't read the article either.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+14Yet comcast att et.al. want to
limit our service to a paltry
few gigs - 4321234, on 06/19/2008, -1/+16...and get 6 more weeks of winter.
- sealink, on 06/19/2008, -1/+15Dugg down for using the phrase "information highway".
- passedoutghost, on 06/19/2008, -0/+14You must be fast!
- edwartica, on 06/19/2008, -0/+14Well - if they ever get to work on perfecting the holodeck.....
- KingCritter, on 06/19/2008, -0/+13Loop it.
- UtopiaInTheSky, on 06/19/2008, -3/+16Yes, yes it is.
- gdog05, on 06/19/2008, -0/+14Yeah, but will they be big enough for a dumptruck?
- WolverineBlue, on 06/19/2008, -1/+14MBILF*
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -6/+19Actually she's a women and your comment was horribly stupid.
- TheOther1, on 06/19/2008, -0/+13Don't worry, he has a very short half life.
- scy1192, on 06/19/2008, -0/+12FTA: "In cloud computing, enterprises and consumers don't store their data on a personal server. Instead, a network of interconnected servers will host their data, to be accessed over the internet."
Bittorrent, is that you!? - hapax, on 06/19/2008, -0/+12At first I thought CERN found a way to accelerate electrons to do this.
CERN Download Accelerator FTW. - scoper, on 06/19/2008, -0/+10Imagine a world where people don't use "your momma" jokes. If only.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -1/+11Some IT guy already hooked up his mom with like 40gbps...and with it she...reads the paper.
- Dsn989, on 06/19/2008, -2/+12Dugg up for encryption... and radioactive signature.
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+10That WOULD be a bargain.
- 4321234, on 06/19/2008, -2/+11They are both a big series of tubes.
- DavidGX, on 06/19/2008, -2/+11And with our new 20gig bandwidth caps for the month.. it'll be useless. Thanks telecoms!
- Aero347, on 06/19/2008, -0/+8Not necessarily, my ISP is still laying fiber and just gave me an increase of bandwidth from 10Mbs to 15Mbs for the same $50. I think they like to stay ahead of the curve and market a new faster and smarter service to you. (Unlike say, the RIAA who would rather go the way of the dinosaurs.)
- ronmojohny, on 06/19/2008, -1/+9The major ISP's have said that they plan on "taking down" the current internet by 2012. It will be replaced by "internet 2" Much faster speeds.
But the real problem is that they want to control the internet. This will be done by the US government claiming "cyber terrorism" And they will have a set group of "approved" sites we can go to. Anywhere else, warning screens will appear, and you will be charged extra to visit the sites that are "not approved"
They have admitted to this, why do you think net neutrality has gone no where? Please go listen to alex jones radio
and you will hear what our government is planning on doing to "protect us" - invinciblechunk, on 06/19/2008, -0/+8Just because the infrastructure will be able to support speeds like that (which, given the state of Internet access in the US, is doubtful), doesn't mean ISPs will actually let you use it.
