- nick2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+41that is if I had friends :-(
- DrunkenDevil, on 10/11/2007, -0/+32Last FM is the only one I'm not afraid of...
- armourer, on 10/11/2007, -3/+29But.....why?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Be afraid. Be very afraid.
- pmuse, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15No facebook or twitter?
- plutpwnium, on 10/11/2007, -2/+15I might just be missing it, but could you please explain how tracking my ever step on or off my web browser is going to be useful to me, as the average Digg user?
- willi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+12you won't have any friends if you visit every article on digg.
- Chingmiester, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11So we can remember what porn sites we've been too, because everyone that goes on digg that also views porn PROBABLY erases their temporary internet files after each... session...
- Sino, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11so that you'll always have an alibi
- Rhino2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10awww, that's sad.
- trixnfx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7I don't think I would want people to know what porn websites I go to. Too creepy.
- HexeL, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Spying on oneself? Big Brother's got nothing on the NWO.
- mookieXL, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8Last.fm is only one that gives you something back (personalized radio). Others exist for sole purpose of selling your data to advertisers.
EDIT: youtube's active share is also nice - nick2, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9If my friends really knew me and wanted to see what sites I go to....I'd just tell them to go to digg and go to every article posted...
Dont need any fancy software or 2.0 crap - ICSU, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Especially, why would my friends want to see all that?
Call me old fashioned but I still prefer an actual discussion about things. ...and Pluto is a planet - pluto124, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Anyone who install this crap should not complain about the patriot act! I hope the investor community is not falling for this stuff.
I've got to go, need to eat my breakfast now. Picking up my spoon... - Sunsetter, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5This article seems like it is trying to make these products sound like good things. . .
wtf? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6im a tad confused - the preliminary blurb for this article takes the sane stance of being opposed to this Big Brothereque software. Software which suggests our evident transition from a democratic state to that of a dictatorship. However, once into the heart of the article, the viewpoint turns around and supports it; "Wakoopa is an excellent service which tracks what software you have been running..." and "This (Google History) feature is mainly for your benefit only."
What rats are running this manipulative site? Are we being subtly brainwashed to accept that these programs are for our alleged 'BENEFIT'?? I pray that people are able to be objective about these sites and articles and question they're purpose. - JMowery, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5It more than likely could, I wrote the article, and we were having a nice discussion about how many people would get in much trouble if using this on a work computer and the boss knew your accounts. Pretty good stuff.
The article wasn't to be taken as seriously as previous comments have suggested, it's just a fun way of sharing your personal life with others, like Last.fm and Wakoopa.
If you wanted to use them for monitoring purposes, that is your choice, but the simple fact is, the user can very easily disable each of those applications with a simple mouse click in many cases, so if they are smart enough to remember each and every time while at work, then, it's purpose is defeated....
Would be nice to know if you have hired someone in another country, state, or even just working remotely to know how much work those employees are really putting in though. - danboarder, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4It might just make a star out of you.... Celebrity culture at it's finest. Youtube is making stars out of many previously unknown... now just browsing the web can make you cool enough to have your own following. It's the democratization of public identity - something that used to be reserved for politicians, actors, and other famous folk...
- eezzzz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4But, isn't Xbox Live the best thing ever..?
- akaBruno, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4This globe is turning into a Small Town where everybody knows everybody's business. Whether we like it or not.
- Jholder112233, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The only one I use is Last.fm
- 11Heather, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Wonder if this could be put to work for monitoring remote staff in foreign countries?
- fergatronanator, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Oh this is great...Now I can find out that the world uses the same software that others have thought you are special to be using...wow...just great
- Sedjet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3I thought at least Twitter or Jaiku would have been on there.
- keyboardduder, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5All of the except the last one. Can someone say DOS attacks please?
- msgyrd, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2It's official:
Web 2.0 companies can't spell. - xeno439, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I noticed that too. A little dubious to say the least.
- talledega500, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2awful stuff
try the opposite.

- xeno439, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Just another trend toward a big brother society. One that Orwell could not have imagined, but nonetheless still a real threat.
http://www.bigbrotherless.com - rkuchiki, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Yet none of them want to pay me :(
- mal1964, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3If you suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, we know who you are and what you want. Stay on the line so we can trace your call.
- TrainingName, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3JMowery - dugg for writing article and stating it for attention.
- Mike89, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Pics or it didn't happen.
- IamF, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Facebook is the best personal information gathering system on the net.
- dbr_onix, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1"But.....why?"
Aside from Last.fm which is good for getting appropriate musical recommendations, I can't see why anyone would use these - I mean most of these descriptions could be used to describe spyware with very few changes (Change friends to "evil spyware creators"). "AttentionTrust installs as a browser plug-in and tracks the sites you visit" for example... - Aeron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I'd be ok with this if it was used as some kind of research and they paid me to allow it.
- krynsky, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1There is another concept out there called Lifestreaming. Which is a chronological aggregated view of your online activities from the services you already use and publish info to which could include Last.fm (music), Del.icio.us (bookmarks), Flickr (photos), etc....basically whatever service that offers an API or RSS feed. This is essentially the service iStalkr and a few other sites out there provide. It's actually pretty cool to provide a single page (or aggregated RSS feed) where your friends can view what you've been up to lately. You can read more about the concept and get info on the tools to create one at http://lifestreamblog.com
- arjung, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1last.fm is the only one i've heard of!
other than google and youtube which is public so it doesnt really count. - ArraySun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0"Legal stalking."
- CosmoLoss, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Welcome to digg, where your EVERY move is not only tracked, but it is also evidently spent solely at your computer. :)
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0As long as it helps me not get viagra search when searching for other things, I'm all for it.
- Jonny0stars, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Cool so all my friends can find out i go on fist & skull f**king scat bukkake ?
- ThndrShk2k, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1"chingmiester"
Or has firefox not save any of that rubbish at all. - JMowery, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2The average user? Hell no, you'd be insane to install all these on the "average user's" computer.
Those applications aren't really developed with your average user in mind. - JMowery, on 10/11/2007, -6/+3Not for the faint of heart :)
- DiggyBank, on 10/11/2007, -10/+1No Google. No Digg.
