- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -11/+57But your penis is still only 2 inches :(
Jokes, jokes. - Zippo, on 10/12/2007, -2/+36Man, I need to move to Japan and hook up with Dream Train Internet... fastest ISP on the planet.
- praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -7/+35You say it with such bravado! Bravo!
- coldphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -17/+40Disagree. The speedtest at speakeasy.net is always so much more accurate.
This speedtest = 1.5 mbps
Speakeasy = 6 mbps
And the server for this speedtest is actually closer to home than the speakeasy one. - 0o0o0o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+24We are happy to have as much data as we do on the worlds bandwidth throughput, though I wish we could have executed on a more elaborate UI for browsing all of that data. It is better for us to make smaller and more frequent iterations than spend months on a balls out flash UI for browsing the global data.
Not to say that a balls out flash UI isn't coming for the global stats...
Glad you enjoy the site. - bullox, on 10/12/2007, -6/+28Jungles have slow tubes I guess.
- accn112, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21loving the new global speed comparisons
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -11/+30looks the same to me!
- SuperSnake2012, on 10/12/2007, -4/+22Agreed, I've been using Speedtest.net for a while, they have been the most accurate speed tester for me (Optimum Online, New York City).
- gfw123, on 10/12/2007, -10/+28You are all lame:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/89934906.png - dvsbastard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13Totally revamped?! Amazing new features?! There seems to be only a few changes across the site design / functionality.
You are contender for the "Most Exaggerated Title of the Year Award"...
That said Speedtest.net is still one of the best bandwidth speed testers out there! - AnotherName, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11yea, this speakeasy test is dramatically different for me than the speedtest.
which one is accurate? - Tmacman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9This is way cool. But now I know why my torrent speeds are like they are.
Maine to NYC:

gotta love gigabit ethernet.
and the funny thing was I was doing a huge download while I did the test. - Bonez, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8Since we are all bragging:...
http://www.speedtest.net/result/89899421.png
... Seriously i don't think this is that valid for (really) high speed acces it more or less depends on how far you are from the nearest "test" server when you have 100mbit - 1Gbit access (all those nodes in between can slow you down pretty quick) - leemac, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1026818 kb/s

God college is goood ~~ - citizen, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9Japan really skews the numbers for Asia:
http://www.speedtest.net/global.php?continent=4
Check out the second chart. - citizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7You are probably downloading at 155 kiloBYTES per second, while most ISPs and Speedtest.net default to kilobits per second. Divide 1285 by 8 to get kilobytes - looks just about right.
- gcnaddict, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I got better results from NY than from DC, and I'm much closer to (read: right next to) DC. The servers they recently added suck.
Of course, NY had a Speakeasy server. What happened to the DC Speakeasy server? Servocity sucks.
(I always use Giganews to test my bandwidth. They sit on a good line, though their tests don't do upload. http://www.giganews.com/performance.html ) - citizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6It really depends on your routing. The new DC server is better for me than the Speakeasy one. I'd not worry about your closest physical one not being the best for you. Instead just find the best one and set it as your preferred server. Many options is a good thing.
- seaner, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8The averages are very cool. It is average download/upload per continent:
North America - 4183 kb/s/808 kb/s
Australia - 3158 kb/s/466 kb/s
Europe - 3098 kb/s/679 kb/s
Asia - 2381 kb/s/962 kb/s
South America - 709 kb/s/234 kb/s - nayr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5same... They said they would upgrade my connection when they bought adelphia in my area (williamstown ma, north-west corner), but all I've gotten so far is three days of outage (different days).
- cecil_t, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5I bet you're greasing your tube right now...
- Porkchoppa, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6What kind of bandwidth does Dream Train Internet in Japan get?
- ubermayo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Ouch...
http://www.speedtest.net/result/72777370.png - pedmond, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Interesting! Romania is in a pretty good position. In fact, it's better than the States... Now that's a first!
- TheGuruStud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7What, no "Buried for 'Amazing' being in the title"?
Well, bury away I Say! - danielslomka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4haha almost the same as mine. i'm also in boston. college networks are the best
- citizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4The test itself does not look extremely different - but it is definitely updated. Notice that you can finally click drag the map itself now - that always bugged me. The big new features at the site are on other pages - My Past Results and Global Stats.
- coldphoenix, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7I find it interesting how Asia has HALF the downstream of North America, yet more upstream.
- nayr, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4the tubes need to be greased again....
- 1jaxstate1, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nice speedtest site. I'll use this site insead of speakeasy's. I'm clocking around 3M down and 320 up. Exactly what I'm paying for.
- maxplanar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@o0o0o0o
In that case, I am wrong, and congrats to you. Your site is very nicely put together, you have my thanks. - Darph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3After digging this article, Jessica Alba and Elisha Culberth showed up at my house for a 3some.
- alwaysmc2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I have silly 'ol cable and I'm in the to 92%. :)
ah, good 'ol penis envy. (that's all it is.) - Serveck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3yea, Time warner REALLY needs to get with the program and upgrade our upload to at LEAST 768K/s up i mean come on... 5MBPS down, but only 365 up? whats going on?
- itsme92, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3I get 17500kps down with Comcast! And people say I'm slow!
(don't tell them I only get 350kps up) - cvrefugee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2My college is better!
http://www.speedtest.net/result/89952223.png - willi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Faster than 98% of global connections.
- sebnukem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Revamped how? Or when? I've seen the same cool interface for quite some time now.
- speaker219, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2For Local speed tests, go here , look for your country, then a server close to you:
http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest?more=1#USA - dicerandom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does the San Jose facility suck for anyone else? I'm less than 30 miles from SJ but I can only pull 3mbit from them, I get 5 from Seattle and NYC.
- hutch113, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah, I don't think it did it correctly for me as my download speed was 652 kbps and my upload speed was almost double that at 1183 kbps.
- TheNik, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I was getting almost 4Mbps two days ago now I'm getting 800Kbps... Thanks Digg. ;D
Tennessee is really awkward when it comes to broadband. Nashville isn't on the chart for highest speeds, but the small-ass down of Hixson is the top (at 8Mbps). Doesn't make since, I tell ye! - geekitechture, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"it's nice of you to show your IP address."
It won't lead you to me so don't get excited. Just put it back in your pants. That IP is at least 30 miles away from my house (even I'm not sure in which direction), it's the IP for a subcontractor of the actual ISP I use, and the account for it isn't under my name or even a name remotely similar to mine. And I talk about living in FL all the time on Digg so no surprises there, if you've been stalking me.
There's probably one person on the entire ***** Web who knows who that IP belongs to and believe me, he doesn't care.
Have fun stalking me -- you won't get very far.
BTW, if I had seen the IP there, I would've brushed it out, but I haven't visited Speedtest in a while and forgot that one small detail.
Big ***** deal. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Louisville, KY to Cincinnati, OH

It helps that my ISP is University of Louisville - pealmasa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Really Amazing
- 0o0o0o, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not true. We overhauled everything. While the principle animation of the test is the same; the dash layout changed quite a bit and the test was optimized a lot as well. In addition to that we have opened up all of our speed testing data for browsing, which wasn't there before. Your personal results now live in their own page with a summary and comparison graphs as well as a new ranking system. The global stats page is also new which lets you browse bandwidth data from all over the world.
I'm way appreciative that you like the site, but this digg is not inaccurate, it was quite a big change that was launched yesterday.
For the record though I have to slightly roll my eyes every time the word "amazing" is used in a digg headline. Even if it is a site I worked on! And I'm also completely in awe (and flattered) that it got dugg so highly again (the first time we got almost 10,000 diggs!!). -
