SO YOU'RE TELLING ME THERE'S A CHANCE!!!! - TeasasTips, on 11/10/2008, -2/+164those are terrible odds...1 in 12,500,000--and I thought my affiliate programs had crazy odds.
- d3l80y, on 11/10/2008, -4/+162Vi@gra anyone ;-)
- jquipp, on 11/10/2008, -6/+157Unreal! It just a simple numbers game.
- webresources, on 11/10/2008, -3/+119What a loss of resources on both the spammer & our side..
- SawButter, on 11/10/2008, -1/+100By answering to spammers you just confirm them that your email does exist and will receive more spam later.
- angusm, on 11/10/2008, -1/+98The problem with spam is that the spammers are almost untraceable. However, it sounds as if a relatively small number of idiots are buying just enough to keep the spammers in business. The solution is therefore the following:
1. Send out billions of spam messages advertising pills, penis enlargements, penny stocks, Nigerian 419 schemes, etc.
2. Note who responds.
3. Go round to their houses with baseball bats and beat some sense into them.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you don't get any more responses.
5. Relax, and enjoy a well-earned break; the spam problem is now solved. - robEstyles, on 11/10/2008, -1/+96Anyone who actually purchases any of this crap and think its legit is an idiot. Now excuse me I apparently won the lottery in Kenya and have to send the prime minister my bank account number to his yahoo email address.
- elizabethb221, on 11/10/2008, -1/+90P3n15 3nh@nc3m3nt!
- Fhwqhgads, on 11/10/2008, -1/+781 in 12.5 million people should be permanently banned from the Internet for being so stupid.
- bushout, on 11/10/2008, -3/+79This is also my approach with women.... I'm on 12,499,999... LUCKY DAY COMING SOON!
- starskii, on 11/10/2008, -40/+109I submitted this a couple of hours ago, and am not sure why you have duped it and resubmitted the same story?
Ironic that the post is about spam. - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -7/+72My girlfriend's dad is a spammer for his business. She had to make the emails for him last summer. She refused to work there and instead took a job in a pet store where she got mauled my rats every day, and it was preferred.
- bushout, on 11/10/2008, -1/+65I can imagine anything is better than finding a hundred ways to spell VIAGARA
- speel, on 11/10/2008, -3/+66"Yet even with this apparently abysmal response rate of less than 0.00001 per cent, the researchers still estimate that the controllers of a network the size of Storm are still bringing in about $7,000 (£4,430) a day or $3.5m (£2.21m) over a year.
Uhh .. how? - neutronphaser, on 11/10/2008, -0/+53VIAGRA being one
- jfor4, on 11/10/2008, -1/+49what are the odds of a girl like me, and a guy like you getting together?
- mclewell, on 11/10/2008, -2/+49Isn't it illegal to hijack a computer that is not yours?
- 3Den, on 11/10/2008, -1/+48Because with a network the size of Storm, they can send out billions of emails daily.
- lintmonkey, on 11/10/2008, -3/+42So in six days, they should have hit just about everybody and should be done now.
- punkcat, on 11/10/2008, -1/+39sending out 1 email costs the same as 1 billion.
gates offered the unpopular solution to charge for email in order to end spam. - yuanzhoulu, on 11/10/2008, -3/+41you'd be surprised that people actually do respond to this crap.
the secretary of my office complex just sent her password by e-mail because some (spam) e-mail said they were doing routine maintainence or something like that and her account would be deleted if she didn't provide that information.
i have another friend who is so polite and has so much patience with everyone that she also responds politely to spam e-mails. nice, bright person, a saint in social situations but not knowledgeable when technology comes into the picture...
yeah... - cgibbo, on 11/10/2008, -2/+38I desperately want to make love to a school boy.
- spaceshipsix, on 11/10/2008, -3/+39That sounds close to my response rate for hitting on girls. (I'm projecting my statistics because I haven't had the chance to use 12.5 million pickup lines yet).
- joshhan, on 11/10/2008, -0/+365 dollar, 5 dollar, 5 dollar foot longs......
- naner, on 11/10/2008, -0/+35"So you're sayin' there's a chance!"
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -10/+44And the only response that gets is probably done by me and it goes something like this:
Die you *****! - inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+34If you buy my work-out-of-home package and increase the size of your penis naturally, I'll show you how.
- WhatiFind, on 11/10/2008, -3/+35That's crazy, how many bits are there being send for one person to respond? Hosting companies must be doing great these days...
- SamDuvall, on 11/10/2008, -0/+31Isn't it illegal to hijack a train that is not yours?
- redwallhp, on 11/10/2008, -1/+32That happens to me all the time. I've had MrBabyMan submit the exact same link half an hour after me, and guess whose made it to the front page...
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+31Of all my crazy get rich quick schemes this scheme is sure to get me rich... and quick!
- SSPink, on 11/10/2008, -0/+30Which can lead to erectile dysfunction, which will just lead right back to the spammers.
- EtherGnat, on 11/10/2008, -2/+31If those numbers are right then charging even 1/1000 of a cent would be enough to put spammers out of business. Even a power e-mailer who sent 100 e-mails a day would only be out $0.365 per year. A spammer would be out $125 per response though.
- redwallhp, on 11/10/2008, -0/+28Too bad 70% of spam comes from botnets now. So *you* would get billed for the 11,359 emails your computers is sending for the spammer.
- Quaterni0n, on 11/10/2008, -0/+271 in 12,500,00 people needs a good, strong kick in the groin.
- Llanowar, on 11/10/2008, -1/+28This one doesn't have caps on every word in the title. So it's better.
- bushout, on 11/10/2008, -1/+27Sorry, your vision goes blurry after the 4th hour.
- SDM187, on 11/10/2008, -0/+25This morning i received random spam email from myself. Which was quite odd, since i thought i'd previously already blocked myself for similar *****.

copy/paste from gmail - HankHill00, on 11/10/2008, -1/+26Are you joking, sijimithy? What a ridiculous comment... that's exactly what the article explains... Alright I've concluded that you're joking.
- jetcombo15, on 11/10/2008, -0/+24Wait, wait wait wait, don't tell me...was it MrBabyMan who made it to the front page? I bet it was MrBabyMan.
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -1/+25You stupid ***** - well done for confirming your email exists.
- McNally, on 11/10/2008, -0/+24> She refused to work there and instead took a job in a
> pet store where she got mauled my rats every day,
Ahhh.. Good old Room 101 Pet Supply. They're still in business? - BoneheadFarker, on 11/10/2008, -7/+31You know...I hate spam as much as the next person. But that $3.5 million a year sounds rather tempting...
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -2/+25The solution is simple: Google and Yahoo and all the web-based e-mail systems should automatically generate some randomly-worded response to the spammers whenever you click "mark as spam". If spammers have to shift through millions of e-mail to find each "real" response, they won't be able and they will stop.
- thcobbs, on 11/10/2008, -1/+23*spam inserts joke here*
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -1/+23wow what a horrible spam joke
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+22They bother to spam because it costs them little to no money to send out mass emails.
