- brandonchicago, on 01/10/2009, -2/+19If energy companies keep dragging their feet to get renewable energy to us, it's about time to take matters into our own hands. Personal clean energy chargers are a great place to start. This might be the next big economic boom.
- brycehebert, on 05/03/2009, -0/+9Now, just combine it with this other portable charger that was revealed at CES, and you've got the ultimate battery-free, clean portable charger.

I think I like this kinetic one better than the solar/wind. - jerryjamesstone, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10I have seen specs for an iPhone that has solar built in, it will probably never happen but one can dream!
- BillyB, on 01/11/2009, -0/+7I want one of these. Actually, I want ten, wired together to power my laptop.
- vawksel, on 01/11/2009, -1/+5I dunno if I want a charger I have to use a jack-off motion to use. Although I'm probably pretty good at it.
- wklink, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3if attached to the outside my car that fan could charge my laptop
- ivanoats, on 01/11/2009, -0/+3nice hybrid solution
- exgiexpcv, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2Awesome! Anyone know what the production / lifespan footprint is?
- joshuaer, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2So you want us to bury your blog spam in the chat section of this article i am confused. /s
- absurdist, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Another day, another troll...
- greenvortex, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2If "The Depression 2" drags out, I can definitely see items in this "free energy" genre becoming more popular.
- Mustangarrett, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2I don't understand that last part... why wouldn't you just use a typical 12v car charger when your driving to charge your phone. Not only would it be considerably faster/more reliable... your cars gigantic alternator is turning no matter what. Using this solar/wind device gains nothing yet only adds to wear and tear. I do realize its possible that you don't own a car charger...
- chamberlanderic, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Just went on the engadget site for the video, and I want like to say: for a technology website you guys suck at holding a camera! what is that a cellphone cam ? it's CES damn it Hire a professional .
- weeFred, on 01/12/2009, -0/+2Wouldn't that just create additional drag on your car though?
- bodegit, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2I want something like this, but I try to think about how I would practically use one of these things. You will have to have it outside for a prolonged period of time, and also be with it so that it doesn't get stolen. Might as well just put a hand crank on it so I can charge the damn thing myself.
- PhilMoskowitz, on 01/11/2009, -0/+2What an obvious piece of junk. If you want small solar and wind charging systems go to a Marine equipment retailer.
- bodegit, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1are NOT. you put the EMPHASIS on the wrong WORD.
- farfromhere, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2It's called "wind"
- noPCtoday, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2slick design, but isn't that wind turbine too small?
- syntaxgs, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2thats not really a battery >.>
- brettruffenach, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2Will these ever go on sale? This would be a perfect to sit at my desk (which is in front of a window) to power my iPhone, iPod, Portable Hard Drive, etc. Better yet, it could sit on my dashboard and charge my phone while drive.
Unlimited free energy! Let's take advantage of it! - freakjim, on 01/11/2009, -2/+3Will It Blend?
- Battlecry, on 01/11/2009, -0/+1Yay deleted! Good job, mods.
- solid12345, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1Well what good is this piece of crap, it requires me to go outside into the sun!
- Meursault, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1True.
- Meursault, on 01/11/2009, -1/+2My god, you ARE not going to hook up with model-quality hotties via True. ----->
They sure rename themselves Delusion.
Also, solar powered things are cool. Yes. - Barackalypse, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2No specs + no price + not actually available for sale = alternate energy product fail!
- Photokon, on 01/12/2009, -1/+2I'll believe it when I see it, this thing is ridiculous. A hand crank would produce way more power then this ever could. I bet it takes 5 days to get a full charge to power the 5 cellphones it claims.
- CedEx, on 01/13/2009, -0/+1You could be camping... and need it to power your radio or walkie talkie.
- Mustangarrett, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1That website is of an extremely poor design.
- brendanryder, on 01/12/2009, -0/+1hmmmm
you could totally buy like 100 of these bad boys and strap them on a car and it would be self powering! - phoi, on 01/12/2009, -0/+0Blow your phone for more talk time? Kinky.
- 2xhelix, on 01/13/2009, -0/+0Did you guys even read the details? it's powered by a battery. The solar can only generate what, like 1W? the thing is just another eco-scam.
- farfromhere, on 01/11/2009, -1/+1Exactly.
- xbadaboom, on 01/11/2009, -1/+1nice gadget! I want one ) http://managedcode.info/
- syntaxgs, on 01/11/2009, -2/+2errrr what kinda battery owers the fan? O.o
- vychereon, on 01/12/2009, -1/+0old news.
