No, it really doesn't. Digg is not anywhere near the traffic level that Slashdot gets and any decent web host can survive the traffic that Digg provides. Notice how almost every single story on Slashdot is Slashdotted within a few minutes of the story being posted and that it barely ever happens here on Digg..... Frankly, if you’re web host can’t handle the traffic that Digg provides you need to find a new one. I’ve seen people with personal home servers post a Digg story and they can handle the traffic just fine.
I find it funny too that one of the biggest complaints at Slashdot is about Slashdotting peoples websites and how it could be easily avoided by setting up simple mirrors or only linking to something such as Coral Cache and yet some of the idiots here on Digg are actively striving to have something similar to the Slashdot effect…. - BugMeNot2, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0"NOTE: This server is connected via a heavily saturated 128kbit connection, so be patient with it..."
