Screen shot of Digg Swarm after the Saddam Execution
davekoss.com — Watching the diggs go up and up on Digg.com was insane. I switched to Swarm and this is what it looked like.
- 4275 diggs
- digg it
- DonWilson, on 10/12/2007, -0/+28Watching Digg Stack was very cool, seeing about a hundred little lines fall one after another.
- GoatBnn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2lol, I was thinking the same thing...after 5 minutes it was at least 10 or 20 times taller than the next tallest digg....

- MacGyver2210, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10Yes, good idea, let's maybe get another 8 or 9 mirrors up for a single ***** JPG image of a digg page...

http://www.thamike.com/fn_images/satan_saddam.jpg - mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -8/+1The irony is that now I have a screen shot of this story next to the Saddam story in Swarm.
- goob, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1Just goes to show everybody and their uncle wants to see the execution video

http://shokk.com/blog/pages/saddams_neck
- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8I know, and the circles going everywhere was crazy looking!
- omarqaz7, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10I know, the story must have broken records for fastest to the front page.
- Bartman818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5@omargaz7 it took 8 minutes to get promoted
- mc7winkie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5That is not a record. There have been stories promoted in less than 4 minutes
- sanman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+17I couldn't get the fire button or mouse controls to work, so the circle things quickly overran me.
They should at least include a Pause feature for these situations.
Anybody know any cheats for this yet?
- mdnash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6its still going pretty crazy. but that pic is jsut incredible. should go in the digg hall of fame
- ldavid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I've never really watched the swarm...but I think this is worth it!
- BigKitty, on 10/12/2007, -26/+3Of course...the reason that there was such a hurry to execute Saddam Hussein was that he knew too much.
EVERYONE WAS AFRAID OF WHAT HE MIGHT SAY.
Whatever he knew will probably come out in some other way, and undoubtedly it won't be long before someone posts it on Digg.- Petronski, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Thorazine. Look into it.
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -10/+8Sadly, BigKitty is right. It's just the way he/she said it that makes it seem insane. The all-caps didn't help.
For instance, I'm surprised Saddam never mentioned the support he received for his warcrimes from Reagan back during the Iran-Iraq war.
Or maybe he did mention it and was censored. The Nuremburg trials were fully recorded, with Saddam we got a puppet show.
Enjoy Saddam's death, you bloodthirsty fools. You have no idea what you have done. You will soon.

http://www.gsn.com/minigames/minigame.php?id=12- ideadude, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow. That is one of the most tasteless games ever. It looks like they also have a "throw the book at OJ" game. Nice.
I always get worried when this level of hate becomes accepted in our society. Even if it is directed at an obviously evil man. I just like to believe that we're all better than that.

- coollettuce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2And it's a race to the finish between Saddam Hussein and Britney Spears.
http://openmindeddesign.com/ss.png- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Britney Spears" Good One! We were just talking about that.
- coollettuce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i know thats why i posted it
- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1"Britney Spears" Good One! We were just talking about that.
- BrianBillow, on 04/08/2008, -0/+1I took a screenshot of Digg Swarm when the story broke that James Kim was found dead, it was pretty impressive to see the amount of people who swarmed that one.
- RickyBennett, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2ding dong Saddam Hussein is dead ....... lol
- coollettuce, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3he's melting he's melting
- newfoundnoise82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2damn i get bored at work sometimes and turn on digg swarm in the background or on another computer but i have never ever seen something like this. wow is all i can say.
- RickyBennett, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1its been 4 hr sins Saddam Hussein hanging and the world is still glad to be read of him ..... lol
- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Can you say spelling and grammar?
- RickyBennett, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1***** i copyed and pasted that i cant spell worth ***** but hay i try
- batmaster, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1There was an article that just made front page about 5-10 mins ago with pictures of the hanging.
I believe that the ***** who run this site removed it, because it *was* a valid story/page.
If anyone has the link, please post it here, and let's call them out on this. - mil8, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what happend to the spoiler alert on this? ;)
- Sethwm2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0They should make an RSS screen saver for the swarm.
- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On the same blog as the post it shows how to make it your desktop.
- codelion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2ppl keep checking swarm it still looks nice...with the saddam story
- strictly, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Death orgy public celebration of a lynching?
totally gross
sickening - Junkey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Saddam's swarm bubble did what he couldn't do, TAKE OVER THE WORLD!!!!!!!
- drilldown, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Executed before daylight local time. Typical.
Stateside it's done at night, as well. If you can't execute a person at high noon, there may be a reason for it.
I don't care for such things. - Malarie, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2heh, Good job. I am using Redhat Fc6 with Firefox 2.0.1 and guess what? I need an newer flash version in order to browse the swarm. I love linux, but i hate when i cant download something like flash when the developpment is months behind for linux.
- GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I thought the beta had been out for months..
- BigDelite, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I would check to make sure you are not blocking with NO-Script. it often gives the flash upgrade warning.
- bioskope, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1its like the mother ship in 'independence day' deploying those city sized space ships
- gr8edchz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think it would be cool if the swarm was interactive along a time line. they could add a feature to the swarm of a time slider so you could explore the swarm back and forth watching the swarm change on your screen as explore what people were swarming towards over time.
- czechsmex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Not a great day for Saddam, but on the bright side, at least now he doesn't have to read through all these retarded comments.
- zkakisochra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Why is the actual story dead? I was not aware saddam was dead for several minutes after logging onto digg.com, the website I use to find indepentently generated content. I think digg.com is an excellent indicator of my own demographic (forgive me ffor generalizing, but I am referring to all of you 18-30 year old nerdy males) I find it appalling something so relevant to everyone living in the United states can be forgotten by everyone so quickly. None of what is on the front page really matters in the long run, while the issues that really are important are practicly ignored. I doubt the ,for example, war attrocities, among many other failures of our government would occur if People simply chose to inform themselves about contemporary politics and current events.
- bradkovach, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think that if YTMND gets this, and possibly YouTube, it might pick up. A List Apart is probably not opposed, either.
- bradkovach, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't know what happened. I swear I commented on the NSFW FF Extension article. My Firefox history says I went from NSFW, logged in, and was brought here to comment. Digg me down.
BTW has anybody else been having weird glitches like this from the new Digg? I have to log back in every 5 minutes.
- bradkovach, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2I don't know what happened. I swear I commented on the NSFW FF Extension article. My Firefox history says I went from NSFW, logged in, and was brought here to comment. Digg me down.
- oioidestroy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Anyone have a Digg Swarm screen from when the swarm screenshot was posted?
- mentor972, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1What does that mean?
- modpancake, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1oio stole my thunder.
- goodspeed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Wow! Nicely mimics how nature works. Converge to a single target. After the kill, it's all gone. The Swarm moves to the next one.
