- Justavian, on 10/06/2008, -0/+39Wow, i hope these guys read the article "Pterodactyls were too heavy to fly," posted on Digg a few days ago.
- B3000, on 10/06/2008, -0/+34I was really hoping for an evil cloning experiment. Damn.
- soundman07, on 10/07/2008, -0/+20We spared no expense.
- MasterOfSmurfs, on 10/07/2008, -0/+19Dammit was I the only one who thought it was Jurassic Park for real?
- thrive868, on 10/06/2008, -0/+9Badass
- ScottMcIntyre, on 10/06/2008, -8/+17I'm sure Sarah Palin would love to be the first to unleash the 'shock and awe' of a few pterodactyls on the 'bad guys'. Even if it is part of a military program ;-)
QFA:"The researchers behind the project view the pterodactyl as one of the most successful flying creatures to ever soar above the Earth—so, naturally, a robotic version might prove useful in gathering information and maybe even conducting military strikes somewhere down the line." - newmanator77, on 10/07/2008, -4/+11McCain is behind the whole thing--he was there with the dinosaurs and knows their power.
- Ghostalker, on 10/07/2008, -1/+7Look like the Onion is becoming real life nowadays.
- TheBuz, on 10/07/2008, -0/+6Holy *****. I totally support the war now.
- XxpokemasterxX, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5I was just thinking that.
http://digg.com/general_sciences/Pterodactyls_were ... - kaijunexus, on 10/07/2008, -0/+5Anyone here remember "Dino-Riders"?
...anybody? - TwiiLight, on 10/07/2008, -1/+6IN DURING CYBORG DINOSAUR WARFARE
- staticfire, on 10/07/2008, -2/+6buried for sarah palin reference
- chuckDontSurf, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4***** yeah. They better expand this program into soldiers riding on the backs of T-Rexes. You know, kinda like Jesus.
- macattak420, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4so is it gonna be like jurassic park in any way?
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4Wow, this story is a LOT LESS interesting that I though it would be...
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+4TERROSAUR TERRORIZE!
- dafragsta, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3OK, if you are going to move backwards, I think they should do it with some style. I'm talking Dinobots here people!
Swoop always sounded like he needed to take a *****. - gentooian, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Yay, I always love to decrease our enemies by 10% (the true meaning of decimate).
- TheBuz, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3It's right up your ally. I guarantee it.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3You didn't say the magic word.
- Nouman6, on 10/07/2008, -2/+5didn't they watch Jarasic Park? that was some serious *****.
- strictnein, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Surprisingly enough, the US has multiple government agencies and they can all do things at the same time! It's just that what the military does is slightly more interesting than government agency X distributing funds to group Y to help with Z.
- Technoloki, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3Hmmm ... flying pterodactyls ... they'll be totally inconspicuous!
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+3So it turns out Power Rangers isn't fiction at all...
- IllBeBack, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2They gonna be gittin' all Jurassic up in they asses, biatch!
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Dinoriders - FTW.
- jdizzle88, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Velociraptor........ LOL
- MaximusD, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Call me crazy, but I think -- in my lifetime or maybe my children's -- we will be able to genetically engineer dinosaurs. Then we could just use real pterodactyls -- cyborg pterodactyls with sonic weapons strapped to their heads. We'll have better means of destroying people than sonic weapons, mind you, but probably none cooler or more suitable for pterodactyl use.
- tbredofsin, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2So anticlimactic. Here I am picturing Jurassic Park, and it's just another robot UAV in development.
- chrisxkelley, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2http://www.xkcd.com/135/
velociraptors are the answer. - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2We clocked the T-Rex at 60 miles per hour.
- nordrassor, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2"Our Enemies"
- Sham1969, on 10/07/2008, -0/+2Again, decimating would be killing one out of every ten. So the other nine are mad as hell, and now not at all afraid of your silly robot dinosaur.
So really, this is the perfect weapon system. Lets buy a thousand of them. - eliotmat, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1two words: not happening
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1"send in the UAV"
- Majorkerina, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Despite the nitpicky aspect of this, I'm glad someone pointed it out.
- wassim2k, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Onion?
- DownIsTheNewUp, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2Jesus rode a pteradactyl whenever he went on vacation.
- Atomic1fire, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1why does this sound like a kids cartoon designed to sell toys?
ROBODACTYLS
that actually seems like a good franchise idea - TSK05, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I believe a lawyer who attended a school from fifth grade with a tuition of 16.5 a year is in touch with "middle class." I heard he's also very much in touch with class warfare.
- DrumDog2112, on 10/07/2008, -1/+2(cue Team America theme song)
DI-NO-SAURS... ***** yeah! - noahgelman, on 10/07/2008, -3/+4Sorry, you missed the dinosaurs by about 6000 years
- ikonizer, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1The caption in the picture from the story is PRICELESS.
I want that as a poster in my room. - inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1yeah, you never know, there are a lot of idiots out there, I just wanted to be sure you weren't one of them.
- Nightenglow, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1vaguely
- rocman9, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Personal Zords for all Americans in my lifetime? YES WE CAN!
- TheBuz, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1I wish I could digg beast war references more than once.
- inactive, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Enough with go-karts, let's get Pterodrones.
- bluekangaroo, on 10/07/2008, -0/+1Tyrannosaurus Rex flying F-14s!!!!
