- timwizard, on 10/12/2007, -4/+34Its a little disappointing since it was over hyped.
"Diggnation: Kick back with a beer and get hosts Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht’s humorous, and street-wise take on timely news stories from the top of digg’s homepage.
Mysteries of Science Explained: Revision3’s resident crackpot scientist provides the answers to life's great mysteries.
Control-Alt-Chicken: A new form of cooking show for geeks, one in which the chefs don’t know how to cook!
PixelPerfect: Be amazed and learn as master digital artist Bert Monroy takes a stylus and a digital pad and treats it as Monet and Picasso do oil and canvas.
Infected by Martin Sargent: Aguided tour of humorous, fascinating, and weird content on the Web–all in a unique hilarious, erudite style.
Geekdrome: Two geeks debate movies, comics, and video games with verbal sparring along the lines of a Kevin Smith movie.
Systm: Systm's how-to episodes educate viewers on how to build, use, and take advantage of technologies and inventions that enhance their lives.
InDigital - Your Life in Gear: Hosts Jessica Corbin, Hahn Choi, and Wil Wheaton look at the latest gadgets and high tech products that define life in the modern world.
thebroken: Legendary underground technology show with a hacker mentality that caters to the elite (or wannabe 1337) computer user using a mixture of seriousness and irreverent comedy."
Where is Outsourced, the Internet sitcom that Alex mentioned way back in January or so? Infected is not nearly what Unscrewed was, and I have a feeling Mysteries of Science revealed will be along the same lines. The story looks authentic; its from zd net and they have the indigital stuff correct.
The digital Picasso might be cool, but I'm skeptic. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23This isn't going to replace TV. It's going to replace TechTv.
- timwizard, on 10/12/2007, -3/+22If they actually come out this time.
The shows have been running forever. Systm has 4 episodes, the broken 3. It averages to like an episode every half year for system and over a year for the broken.
Even 1 new episode for each comes out now, can they keep it up? They have just 2 new shows, one of which overlaps too much with existing shows. The other doesn't sound as exciting.
I'm not buying into this until I see it. - Kev585, on 10/12/2007, -4/+20New Systm, new thebroken. I'm down
- penguinix, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17It's like a bunch of lower quality versions of the old TechTV shows.
- helusay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13Is it me, or does that new logo look like a 3 year old made it with a green crayon. They should have had a logo contest or something. Sorry if anyone is offended, I just expected something better.
- subzeroash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+13This sounds like Leo's UndoTV, the project to bring back TechTV on the web.
InDigital - Fresh Gear
Infected - Unscrewed
Still no TSS though... (DL.TV is close though) - concept, on 10/12/2007, -2/+14Ok, I agree with you on a few things.... as long as the content gets updated on a regular basis, this will work out better than before.
Although, It does seem sorta like the are rebranding the old techtv shoes.... (just my opinion.) - JFetch, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Yay, InDigital is back. I'll be glad to see Jessica Corbin again, but I'm going to miss Diane Mizota. The one where they tested Google Maps vs her street knowledge was funny as crap.
- Aooogah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Finally, Burt Monroy gets his own show! I can't wait to see it!
- J6stik, on 10/12/2007, -3/+12Infected with Martin Sargent for the ***** win!!!
- geminitojanus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Is it going to be like the digital version of a Bob Moss, The Joy Of Painting show??
..if so, COUNT ME IN! - fuxjoey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10With that lineup, how are they going to actually kill the TV?
Still, big up to them. - anarchtica, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Does anyone else think that maybe the cartoon project Alex has been working on will make it's debut on Revision3 shortly? I think it was the last episode of Diggnation that Alex hinted something about that project.
- broly1718, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Is infected still going to be audio podcast? or are they going to have a video show. I know they have a video version of infected already, but thats just pictures.
- cavemonkey50, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Everyone at rev3 is out partying. No one is there to fix it. We'll have to wait until tomorrow after the hangover.
- manvsmonster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I'm surprised that after reading over the two new shows, I remember Kevin (and maybe Alex speaking on behalf of his days of only being a fan of TechTV) talking about these two guys a long, long, long, long, long time ago. Maybe it was on Diggnation.
They mentioned the guy who did awesome stuff with Photoshop, and their favorite old show that went away where another guy used to explain science in an interesting way. And then they both said aloud in an interested and lighthearted way that they should ask those guys about doing shows with them or hopping on board. They didn't dwell but sounded like they'd give it a shot.
It's interesting... It's underwhelming, too... --But welcomed anyway.
I'm mostly amazed they talked about this so *****' long ago, and they just now are realizing/delivering that little piece of an idea! I don't think they're working hard much for producing these shows. They seem to be just working slow.
Each person has one primary show they're interested in assigning their self to. Kevin w/ Diggnation. Alex is enthused w/ Control Alt Chicken and empowering his girlfriend to participate (which probably goes along with him saying she's an aspiring actress/model, so he's investing in the relationship). And the only other regularly updated show is of course the one that they aren't directly doing any work for and just distribute (Geekdrome).
They slack on Systm, The Broken, Infected (? - never pay attention to, but seems sporadic), and InDigital. They're just side projects and are getting done like side projects do--with little effort in the hands of people rationalizing to save face for promises made that lay unfulfilled while complacently getting by with what doesn't tax effort and serves the appetite well.
EDIT: I also don't get who is supposed to be turning my head yet. Vague tech guys from the past, or is there more surprises yet to be revealed? Otherwise: meh; pretty lame hyping. - Testify.Alex, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7This was supposed to launch yesterday. When will the site actually be accessible?
- TheWriteGuy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I don't speak for Rev3 at all, but I would assume that your best shot would be to say to them that you can produce your own show and can do so on some kind of regular schedule. Then you need to show an actual completed episode. If they like it and believe it will fit with their Rev3 audience demographic, then maybe they'll list your torrent and promote your show, like they do for Geekdrome.
- AcidBath, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Rev3 needs to get Hak5 on the wagon. If any tech/hacking show is going somewhere it is them.
- RedGiant, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Awesome! Jessica Corbin from the good ol' TechTV days is back for inDigital!
- battlefield1985, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8umm, This is exactly what I've been hitting F5 for the passed 30 minutes for. Thanks. Dugg
- misterpony, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I was hoping that Leo and Patrick were going to be involved somewhere. And LaLa and even Dvorak. This just looks like a competitor to the TWiT lineup, with slightly different shows.
Between those two groups, it seems like overkill and too much similarity. They really need to pull together and get all of Leo's supporters, Dvorak's connections, and Kevin's fans together again in order to really generate a mass audience online.
And I wish they would have found a way to expand beyond the shows they already do (besides the graphics)...maybe adding TikiBar or a one of the many sports bloggers out there to start a show. All of that would have seemed like a major announcement to me...and a place I could go to get all the content I want (except Survivorman and Firefly reruns). - Cyborg771, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I want there to be some sort of streaming station where the latest episodes of the complete rev3 lineup play in a loop, similar to a tv station. Or at least some kind of "all in one" rss feed that we can use. Right now I have way too many. And who thinks that Alex should do a D&D show to fill us in on his latest hobby.
- xtr3m, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Is revision3.com supposed to accessible right now? It's not for me.
- n8dawg87, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6For some reason I don't think this is it...I think there's something else still to come, especially considering this was posted at 1:23pm today...
- Pharaoh777, on 10/12/2007, -2/+6So if I have an idea for a TV show... where should I direct my call?
- maiku00, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4im looking forward to pixelperfect personally, as a graphic designer
- Abatrour, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3You also have to realize that most of the people that work on the shows probably have other jobs as well. If this takes off (which I'm really hoping) it could be a good source of income in which case some of them may be able to quit their day jobs and focus on the shows full time.
- amoirae, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Kevin and Alex are streetwise?
They didn't know what BDSM was when they were discussing the story about the Craig's List scam.
Don't get me wrong. I love diggnation and the two of them. Streetwise they are not. - Kev585, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Yes, it sadly is still a I'll believe it when I see it. Based on past release schedules I've got my fingers crossed. They need to get a "season" schedule going with regular releases and the diversity Outsourced would have brought to this line up is unfortunately unrealized.
- ccanni1028, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3This is what they have been doing on Diggnation for a long time with GoDaddy. It's not very intrusive at all.
- pigsbladder, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3err... it's morning and nothing has changed
- Wogna, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I personally don't see how any of these new shows are going to make any average joe "break their tv". Does any average joe have any interest in the subjects that these shows will be touching on? The show that can reach the broadest audience is Infected - look at it, all the shows have a specific tech setting, so you have to like tech, and that genre of tech to enjoy it and with Diggnation, you have to be a digg user to really understand the news stories. Infected is the only one that follows that "Show about nothing" mentality that makes it mainstream. Surprisingly, it's also audio, which means that most dial-up users can enjoy it too. However, it is a little too raunchy to actually reach most mainstream households. Really the only thing that Rev3 is doing right now is a site redesign and adding a couple shows in a similar vein as the others.
I think that if want want our netcast/podcast/vidcast/whatevercasts to actually reach the audience that is mainstream, we need to do less tech content and more "general entertainment" content. I'm trying to start up a network like Rev3, but it will contain more general entertainment, stuff that will appeal to everyone, than just the tiny demographic that is tech users.
Not to be harsh, but this is looking to be an online TechTV, and TechTV was mainstream - but still didn't have enough viewers. We've got to reach out and broaden our show landscape to have a suitable podcast network. - XMinusX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I am syked.
I thought personaly Tiki Bar TV was going to join Rev 3
But diggnation is my number one then Cntrl Alt Chicken then somtimes geekdrom - aquax, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Was that during the period of facetiousness where they also mentioned that they were going to release it in 1080p, amongst other jokes? If so, I think you missed the sarcasm.
- HomelessJoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Personally I think TechTV was being viewed by more people that the ratings gave them credit for. At least online the number of actual viewers can be more clearly quantified to advertisers. Yeah, everyone misses TechTV and thus we see so many successful podcasts by former TechTV personalities. G4....I curse you and your warmed over garbage.
- guregu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You mean this?
http://www.notmtv.tv/
It seems like this site has already been up and running for awhile and not part of Revision3. But, I could be wrong.
By the way, isn't the guy standing in the front of this pic http://www.notmtv.tv/?c=crew&PHPSESSID=a32f23a0b179a40a7c5f1652a6df7795 one of the hosts from the now defunct "From the Shadows"? - guregu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The last episode of TWIT, David Prager mentioned something about a show released daily.
I didn't see anything like that in the article. Or did I just hear Prager wrong? - RyanLigon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I thought I heard it the same as well. Till the site updates and we know for sure, I'm thinking it's a matter of each day there will be *some* new episode available. Probably just each show is aired on it's own day.
- BerenTW, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2and Wil Wheaton. I assume that is news, i didn't know he was on it if it is OFN. Will totally start watching it again now.
- TSSaloic, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Actually Undo TV is Parillo's Project.
- guregu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Ahhh. Yeah, I probably missed the sarcasm. I was half-listening while coding and my ears perked up when I thought I heard something about a show released daily.
- valkyries, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3i heard something about "Forget About MTV" i think i heard that on the last indigital
- scoobydiesel, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Seems good to me for now, you know they will add new shows later too, but like others said they will need to keep us updated with new episodes..they cant just focus on one show, they need to spread the love all around the shows :-D set a day for a show to come out(like diggnation on Sat) and stay with it, if you must have it every month or whatever, but as long as they stay on track and give us the goods i think we should all be happy
- ThirdPrize, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Alex may have nice hair but he plays D&D.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If mysteries of science is as funny as it was on unscrewed the world will be complete
- CrazyForSW, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Yay! I'm excited about theBroken. I pray they'll having Ramzi and some more Social Engineering stuff.
- Ozman712, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You have to give Kevin credit. Yeah only Diggnation is on a regular schedule and the new shows are very similar to some old TechTV stuff, but who doesn't miss TechTV? Give props to Kevin becuase the whole IPTV thing is a new concept and I really think it is the future of television. With a little more funding and some time to get to understand how their market recieves this new media, I think Kevin and Adelson are really going to make their mark on not only Web 2.0, but media in general.
- skullbullet, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That was NotMTV, which I've heard is supposed to be some type of MTV for independent bands or something.
