- demne, on 05/30/2008, -3/+177I call for a jihad on MediaDefender.
- drakefantastic, on 05/30/2008, -4/+141Ok MediaDefender, just for that, I am going to pirate 3 movies tonight. I was going to pay for them, but you pushed my hand. Defend that. (If someone has a better idea on how to retaliate against Big Content, I would like to hear it. This story is outrageous.)
- R0CKY, on 05/30/2008, -2/+71Remarkable story, these guys really take the biscuit. Hope R3 makes a packet out of this. :op
- MaverickXG6, on 05/30/2008, -1/+68Hope MediaDefender is finally held accountable for their illegit actions and tactics. Unethical business conduct, regardless of what it entails, needs to be stopped...sadly too often it goes unpunished and/or ineffectively punished in the world.
- GeekyGerge, on 05/30/2008, -7/+55Holy *****, This was front page 11 hours earlier:
http://digg.com/tech_news/Revision3_Sends_FBI_afte ... - filmbandit, on 05/30/2008, -2/+47"A SYN flood aimed at Revision3's BitTorrent tracker clogged the company's tubes and brought down all of its web services. "
Ted Stevens was right. - frenchkick, on 05/30/2008, -13/+50do you people even look at the front page?
buried as a dupe - umbrellainabin, on 05/30/2008, -1/+36adds mediadefender to my ***** THE list.......

***** MEDIADEFENDER - Cache22, on 05/30/2008, -1/+27Hopefully this results in criminal charges against Dimitri Villard and Ben Grodsky (and anyone else with direct knowledge of what they were doing). It may make others think twice before taking money from the big media companies and using it to break the law.
- azbmr, on 05/30/2008, -1/+25It is a remarkable story. Which explains why it's been on the front page thrice now that I've seen. The strange thing is that the first one I saw linked directly to the source story at R3, and the rest of these have been pointing at various rehashes of the same data.
I like updates, not the same info from another source. - rodrigo74, on 05/30/2008, -5/+26Nah, you weren't
- taketheleap, on 05/30/2008, -0/+19fine, *I* will say it:
***** the RIAA.

***** em long, ***** em hard... with spikes. - cerejota, on 05/30/2008, -4/+22ANONS, ACTIVATE!
- bobbknight, on 05/30/2008, -2/+18Huuummmm Revision 3 should have been using PeerGardian!!!
- graemee, on 05/30/2008, -4/+19I know it's a big story, but 3 frontpage stories is a bit much.
- cerejota, on 05/30/2008, -0/+14SYN Attacks are not like bursting the tires of trucks, it is like filling up the tubes with tampons.
-Ted Stevens - pigfister, on 05/30/2008, -1/+15has anyone seen this story in the mainstream news or is it being hushed down again by the forces that control us?
i though that DDoS attacks were terrorist behaviour now, or is it one rule for everyone else and one for the US. - Floris, on 05/30/2008, -0/+12Every article on the frontpage giving attention to this deserves a digg up .. dupe or not. This is an original source - article by ars and not a repost on ars. I disagree that this is a dupe. +1
- MAGZine, on 05/30/2008, -8/+19Array of 2000 servers?
That's a lot of pr0n - cerejota, on 05/30/2008, -2/+11not dupe, this ars' take on it...
- joshearl, on 05/30/2008, -0/+9That was an extremely hollywood way of depicting what's happening.
- mrcoderga, on 05/30/2008, -0/+9MediaDefender is a menace to society
MediaDefender has done enough damage to other citizens
MediaDefender must go to jail
Do not pass Go
Do not collect $200 - inactive, on 05/30/2008, -3/+11Allah Allah!!
- duckyinc, on 05/30/2008, -1/+9You go first :P
- renegadeafk, on 05/30/2008, -1/+8I'm sure not everyone on digg saw it when it was on the front page earlier.
- isaactwito, on 05/30/2008, -0/+7Dugg because sometimes news stories evolve. I know you may forget about things the day after they happen, but some people like follow-up or differing views on things. I personally want to see news on this all the way through the trial (I have some hopes). I hope it's pushed to the front page every day, R3 seems to be one of the only honest internet companies, so I hope they can make a stand and show their strength.
- woody168, on 05/30/2008, -0/+6You forgot F*** COMCAST
- Dunnix, on 05/30/2008, -0/+6Protect the interest of some artist? The last thing Media Defender is thinking about is the bloody artist. Revision3 did nothing to provoke an attack.. When sites get hacked (Comcast) its usually because they are doing something people thing is just plain wrong.
- inactive, on 05/30/2008, -1/+7Learn it, love it, use it: http://digg.com/all/popular/24hours
- Qpalzm, on 05/30/2008, -0/+6Well for starters - we can begin updating the wiki article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaDefender
The facts and the newsources are coming out now. Simply presenting the events factually is enough to damn this company. - 1o1q1, on 05/30/2008, -2/+7Now if MediaSentry can be shown the door too
- pcghost, on 05/30/2008, -1/+6Repeat after me. "Ted Stevens is NEVER right".
Why he isn't jailed for corruption baffles me. - RealmDown, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5True, but then, he wasn't trying to be funny.
- ElectroBot, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5No. It's "Piratebay, Rev3! Piratebay, Rev3!"
- haysayer, on 05/30/2008, -0/+5MediaDefender's MS Exchange server keeps rejecting my friendly inquiries (no, seriously, they're friendly) as spam... If anyone else wants to give it a shot, try: info@mediadefender.com and info_team@mediadefenderinc.com. When will the denial of service cease?!
- roflbrothel, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4GG media defender. Quite an accomplishment. Really. You should give yourselves a pat on the back.
Have fun in prison. - jinxplayer, on 05/30/2008, -12/+16THIS IS SPARTA!!!
- RealmDown, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4Actually, it was decent analogy. I'd kinda like it to go Hollywood though, because then Media "our e-mail security sucks" Defender would be at the receiving end of massive artillery and cool headquarters' destroying explosions as well as the EXTRA cool sniper shot between the eyes of the CEO tough guy wannabe.
- spammishking, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4I think you missed the point. Real hacking is not about getting free stuff. It's about the freedom of information. If you have an entity thats sole purpose is to hide/destroy our capabilities to acquire information. especially if it's a site that hands out information freely, then you will have a backlash. That's why I'm against MediaDefender and for your normal everyday hacker.
- roflbrothel, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4AAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
- centerblack, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4illegit?
- davidsmero, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4don't forget girls (i hope).
- joemofo214, on 05/30/2008, -0/+4its kind of a dupe. its ars take on the story. but im leaning on dupe more than 2 stories on one subject
- theHM, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3And this one was on the front page seven hours before that one, and gained more than twice as many diggs: http://digg.com/security/Inside_the_Attack_that_Cr ...
Yeah, content gets recycled, if you don't want to see it, bury it and move on. Very few people will care if it already made front page if they didn't see it first time round. - smotpoker1, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3well get the ***** out then if you are so bored. It comes down to we like you no like so you are irrelevant.
- RX8SaxMan, on 05/30/2008, -2/+5"Hope R3 makes a packet out of this"
I think MediaDefender gave them plenty of those already...the SYN kind ;) - CookieCutter, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3hopefully Revision 3 has some sort of Business Continuity insurance, whereas they will be compensated for the downtime financially. My hopes reside in the insurance company forming litigation against "Media Defender".
My faint knowledge of the tcp/ip layers would lead me to believe that http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SYN_cookies could have helped r3 out a bit. $.02 - Yage2006, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Yes you are confused.
And stupid too :) - Pixelante, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3They won't see a prison. Different laws for people and kings, and for friends of kings.
- R0CKY, on 05/30/2008, -0/+3Yeh, that _was_ the joke, the subtlety was lost on you (and your 3 diggers) apparently, lol.
