- canewediggit, on 08/04/2008, -0/+25sell mortimer, sell!
better unload that turd-soaked paper before somebody gets a hold of your balance sheet. - ironeus, on 08/04/2008, -1/+19It does seem a bit presumptuous that there is much real value in such a move; regardless of what Microsoft payed for a stake in the company.
- inactive, on 08/04/2008, -2/+19That's a nice little bonus there!
- supermansuper, on 08/05/2008, -0/+14Microsoft artificially increased the value of Facebook so that other companies cant get to buy Facebook that easily. Microsoft has no interest in buying Facebook, but it is in their interest that Google, Yahoo, etc. dont buy it.
- hokie47, on 08/05/2008, -0/+12I don't see how facebook is worth 4 billion. Really is their data that valuable, and their advertising worth that much?
- AndrewKC6, on 08/05/2008, -0/+12.com V.2 on the horizon...
- neotrantor, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9who would have thought basing a billion dollar company around t-shirt advertisements might eventually fail!
- abran1984, on 08/05/2008, -7/+15In five years we'll ask each other, "Remember that one web site called Face something?"
- louiebaur, on 08/04/2008, -2/+10Hmm something is rotten in denmark or maybe its no a problem
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Deja vu much? Anyone with a clue would sell every share before that fad crashes. Just my opinion, after all it's not like Facebook has made a cent in profit.
- bffoley, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7Yea exactly, which is why I'm sure these people are glad to be able to dump some of their stock while its still at the top.
People treat Zuckerberg like he's some sort of genius but in reality he just made a slightly better version of something that had been around for awhile. People are already bitching about Facebook doing XYZ and how it sucks now and blah blah and those disgruntled people will just start migrating to the Next Big Thing. - brettg102, on 08/05/2008, -2/+8...I hope facebook tanks hard. So many ditsy blonde teens will be DEVASTATED.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Remember that one web site called Friend-something?
- inactive, on 08/04/2008, -0/+4Just read a Facebook "where's the profits?" story today. Sell now!!!
- AmyVernon, on 08/04/2008, -0/+4seriously. but why does it make me nervous? i know they'd have to be stupid to do that in advance of some big bad news that would make the stock tank, but ...
- pcpimpster, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Cashing in on an assumed value. I dont know wether to applaud or be worried.
- tomarocco, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3FaceVan
- JordanTW90, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I'd short the living ***** out of that stock price. Facebook isn't worth anything until its users turn 30 and have money. Right now its a bunch of college students who cant be properly monetized.
- brettg102, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3My guess is the employees have some sort of profit/value sharing tied directly to the value of the company. They get "stock" in it.
- Chaos12, on 08/06/2008, -0/+2Yes?
- n3demonic, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2My-what?
- MikeSobe, on 08/05/2008, -2/+4They have stock options on a private company? How does that work?
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Yes. Just like any company, but Joe Schmuck on the street can't buy shares. It's not publicly traded. You get shares typically by having rich friends or working for said company.
- mandarin, on 08/05/2008, -0/+2Yes I have seen a lot of fancy cars in that area ..
- n4tune8, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1I applaud. This is the right time to do it too. You don't sell when it's going down, it only helps bringing the stock down further. Bad when that's where you work...
- Loornadune, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Wait a minute...
- AndrewKC6, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1be indifferent unless you have stocks then I would follow suit :P
- theblt, on 08/05/2008, -2/+3Are you on the internet? Have you thought about the privacy you put at risk?
http://www.google.com/ - arizonagroove, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Report: As useless and stupid as Breaking:
- SniperGX1, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1There are ads on facebook?
- B00Radley, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1It would be hard to notice an increase in 20-somethings driving nice cars in palo alto. It's pretty much all the 20-somethings already.
- MikeSobe, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1Ok then, next question: Since Facebook's value is mostly theoretical where is it getting the capital to fill these options?
And as a company still very much growing, why offer this option to its employees now? - lesleye, on 08/04/2008, -3/+4Nice.
- MasterDwarf, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1facebook is just a interweb buzz word for this guy. I don't know too many people that use it, so the figures just leave me utterly baffled.
- MtheoryX, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1AdultFriendFinder?
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -0/+1If in doubt, draw a moustache:
http://www.new.facebook.com/apps/application.php?i ... - MtheoryX, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1If not for ditsy blondes with daddy issues, our porn and stripper industries would tank.
- MtheoryX, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1The data? Yes.
The advertising? Maybe not. - MtheoryX, on 08/06/2008, -0/+1"And as a company still very much growing, why offer this option to its employees now?"
That's typically the very first "perk" that a new, growing company can offer to attract the best talent. - ljin, on 08/07/2008, -0/+0internal valuation of 4 billion? so why are they telling us facebook is worth 50 billion?
- ramtanion, on 08/05/2008, -0/+0This is worth $4 billion for the data? If that's the case, what do you think infousa.com is worth?
- twmulloy, on 08/05/2008, -1/+1faecesbook.com
- thetruthisthere, on 08/05/2008, -4/+1have you thought about the privacy you put at risk?
http://www.albumoftheday.com/facebook/ - mynameistux, on 08/05/2008, -9/+3wait, MS owns part of facebook.
/delete facebook account. - MikeySV, on 08/05/2008, -8/+1WoW! Nice bonus indeed!... now, where do i fill in the job application??? LoL - Well spotted mate!
