- PhoenixAvatar2, on 08/30/2008, -6/+89People need to read the article again. The concern here is free, unfiltered Wi-Fi on a plane. That means that obviously you're allowed to have your laptop on during the flight. Doesn't matter whether there's Wi-Fi or not, if you want to watch porn on your flight you could just as easily save it on your laptop's hard drive.
The only solution would be to prohibit laptop usage. But that won't do it, you can just as easily watch it on your iPod. So ban those too. But wait, it could be on your cell phone. Gotta ban those too. It's all or nothing if you really have an issue with this.
Face it, Focus on the Family is a crock of crap. There's no good way to filter stuff like this. But know a good way to stop it? Just let the flight attendants do their job. - AmyVernon, on 08/29/2008, -4/+76OK, now this is just silly.
- illogik, on 08/29/2008, -2/+72It's the Mile High Chub
- Haecceity, on 08/30/2008, -4/+51And what's to stop that hairy freak from watching that on a DVD on your flight? Or a bittorrent download? Or looking at jpgs? It's already possible. Should we ban laptops? DVD players?
- amoirae, on 08/30/2008, -1/+48There are ***** trouser snakes on this ***** plane!
- knslms, on 08/30/2008, -1/+42Good to know we are all at peace, there are no more kids starving, no more homeless, and all thats left now is to stop porn on airlines
- angusm, on 08/29/2008, -1/+39"And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves," [Matthew 21:12]
If he pulled that kind of stunt today, he'd get tasered. ("All units: reports of individual creating disturbance in synagogue. Subject is a Jewish male, age approximately 30 years, bearded. Dressed in a robe and sandals.")
So yes, Jesus definitely protested things, even violently. The gospels don't provide any information about his position on porn in airliners, though. - inactive, on 08/29/2008, -4/+39Nobody is going to be doing that, just like they don't do it in their laptops or phones. Porn can be stored in one's computer.
Asking for filtered internet to avoid porn is, therefore, absolutely retarded. - mrsachmo, on 08/29/2008, -2/+31Sky porn, gonzo style. I like it.
- Kaijudoking, on 08/30/2008, -0/+27Hell yeah! Let's make it a party! :D
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -2/+29'but what about the children?' That phrase has done about as much harm to our society and freedoms as 'If you're not with us, you're against us'. Thanks.
- bigp3rm, on 08/30/2008, -3/+30I am a Christian. I sin in ways that I should not. But to force my beliefs onto others is wrong. I shouldn't do what I do but these groups sin just the same. I wish they would get over themselves.
- rearlgrant, on 08/30/2008, -2/+27What's to stop you from saying "please watch that elsewhen/where?"
- juniperlater, on 08/29/2008, -18/+39That is silly, but imagine yourself sitting next to some hairy freak panting over midget-transvestite threeways on a fourteen hour transatlantic flight. I know that is the worst-case scenario, but if that happens once, that is too many times.
- cheezintern, on 08/30/2008, -5/+24Maybe "Focus On The Family" should move to Iran, they'd be in good company,,
- monkeysama, on 08/30/2008, -0/+18They don't ban Hustlers on the plane. Or DVDs. Why put in special filters for WiFi instead of using the same mechanics in place for all the other porn vectors available on a plane now?
- Litespeed, on 08/30/2008, -1/+17There wouldn't be a family to focus on if they weren't *****.
- Topher06, on 08/29/2008, -20/+36On this account, I kind of have to agree with the right wing religious zealots. I really don't want some dude browsing porn next to me and then he buzzes the flight attendant and asks for a blanket.
- rearlgrant, on 08/30/2008, -0/+16rAmen
- lukemorris, on 08/29/2008, -12/+27Yeah I'm only for blocking it b/c it's always some old nasty dude checking out porn on airplanes. I've seen about 4 or 5 with playboys on planes before.
- Vytorious, on 08/30/2008, -0/+14What ever happened to personal responsibility and common sense? Was there a time where that even existed? You find something offensive, avoid it. Don't force your views on others. If I wanted to watch "Saving Ryan's Privates" on a plane, I would. But I would personally leave it at home.
- ryan83189, on 08/30/2008, -0/+14But there is more porn on the internet than my laptop, way more, despite the contents of the directory /Desktop/untitled_folder/.not_here/.really_not_here/the_pr0n
- latova, on 08/30/2008, -1/+15Maybe they should just prohibit porn. Nah, that's crazy talk.
- thorstrongstone, on 08/30/2008, -0/+14Sir, DO NOT knock midget-transvestite three-ways until you have tried one.
- rearlgrant, on 08/30/2008, -1/+14Dugg for the Terry Gilliam graphic!
God: What are you doing now?
King Arthur: Averting our eyes, oh Lord.
God: Well, don't. It's just like those miserable psalms, always so depressing. Now knock it off!
God: Every time I try to talk to someone it's "sorry this" and "forgive me that" and "I'm not worthy"... - elfprince13, on 08/30/2008, -0/+12remember what he did with adulterers? he protected them from humiliation by hyprocritical religious zealots. of course porn isn't really adultery either. its lust. which isn't something Jesus supported, but at least categorize your sins correctly.
- ralphthemagi, on 08/30/2008, -3/+15Worst possible thing your child could see, right? But it's cool if someone pops in a DVD of Kill Bill, right?
Last thing kids need to see is what naked people look like. OH NO! NAKED PEOPLE! SEX! LOOK OUT!!!
It's just porn. Get over it. Naked people playing with each other. If you kid gets a peek at a tit, the world will not end. You know that little bastard has had his hands all over your wife? You better punch him in the face. - Anpheus, on 08/30/2008, -1/+13Call over a flight attendant.
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -12/+23It is a chilling fact that most of the world's leaders believe in nonsensical fairytales about the nature of reality. They believe in Gods that do not exist, and religions that could not possibly be true. We are driven to war after war, violence on top of violence to appease madmen who believe in gory mythologies. These men are called Christians, Muslims and Jews.
- dood, on 08/30/2008, -0/+11If there were enough Christians like you, we might see a lot less anti-Christian sentiment. But I think there's a fundamental problem. You don't want to force your beliefs on someone else (which is admirable) but that means you probably won't force that belief on other Christians. So those other Christians will continue on being asshats, damaging the whole cause.
- monkeysama, on 08/30/2008, -1/+12Good points both, also completely irrelevant to WiFi access.
- franksands, on 08/30/2008, -0/+11Well, there are two views on the subject: traditionallists say that it can only be considered a true midget-transvestites threeway if all members of said threeway are of the midget-transvestite disposition. In the other hand, some people feel that if you have at least one migdet and one transvestite, you can already call it a midget-transvestite threeway. I myself, prefer the hybrid coniferous redwood pansexual acts, in which gives you more space and are more ecologically proactive.
- JerichoSam, on 08/29/2008, -16/+27I don't have a problem with this. I wouldn't want to be sitting next to a passenger who's viewing porn, and I wouldn't want my child to glance over and get an eyeful of it, either.
- monkeysama, on 08/30/2008, -0/+10I'd really hope people who start beating it on a plane in front of kids are punished, even if it didn't have WiFi.
- paiute8, on 08/29/2008, -9/+19Well as a Christian I only have one question for other Christians Just when did Jesus protest any thing? I need to know if I'm suppose to be that way!!!!!!
- tomarocco, on 08/30/2008, -2/+12Your child is already getting plenty of eyefuls when you aren't around. Ain't no way around it in this world today.
- imightbewrong, on 08/30/2008, -0/+10well considering Jesus declared himself the son of God and was crucified as a blasphemer, i think its fair to say he was willing to protest the status quo
- 0Xonox0, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9Oh, internet on airlines... When I read the title I thought they were protesting phallic images that they saw in clouds.
- inactive, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9The article talks about a symptom not a problem. like most things its one group trying to tell the others how to live their lives. this is why so many in america demand the federal government ignore the 10th amendment, they are not satisfied with the laws only where they live, they want to see them applied all over even in areas that dont want them, because they know best or something.
- compgeek, on 08/30/2008, -1/+10alright this is getting just a little nuts. I'm pretty sure that even if someone really liked porn they would still be able to exercise some selft control knowing there are children around. this religious group seems to think that no one not even the most perverted individual has any self control. I'll bet granted some people will do this however most will see that it will simply make a long flight uncomfortable for them as all the other passengers would probably make a point to complain about the porn viewing. I say if you want to watch porn fine but for god sake do it at home in your own bedroom where no one can see you jerk off but God.
- anarchyinthekr, on 08/30/2008, -1/+10they're reading the articles of course
- ralphthemagi, on 08/30/2008, -1/+10Because when it come to sex, the only solution is to try and completely ignore it. Didn't you get the memo? It's right there next to the abstinence education pamphlet.
- monkeysama, on 08/30/2008, -0/+9And if it lasts for more than 4 hours, bring some nurses into the mix.
- BrokenCircle, on 08/30/2008, -3/+11Does this mean I am going to have to pay an extra $15 dollars to sit in the back of the plane where God can't see me watching porn?
- tomarocco, on 08/30/2008, -1/+9I really enjoy porn. Sick, disgusting porn. But I NEVER view it in public or at work or on any third-party's computer. My Mother taught me manners.
- PopcornDave, on 08/30/2008, -0/+8Ignore the above post. I thought initially they were finding porn in clouds although I wouldn't put that past them at some point.
- Palaceguard, on 08/30/2008, -3/+11No. The problem is religion groups force their religious beliefs on other people. This crap has to stop
- mushoo, on 08/30/2008, -2/+10Come on, are you people really defending Focus on the Family.
These are the same retards who were asking people to pray for Obama's stadium speech.
http://www.9news.com/news/elections/dnc/article.as ... - Mononuclear, on 08/30/2008, -1/+9did you read the article? Most people don't watch porn in public and if they do there are already ways to handle it. Internet access has nothing to do with it.
